A Warning smile
Brandon's POV
Paige's eyes shifted the moment the door rang.
That must be Casey.
Her mum's voice floated casually through the room, but it hit me like a punch to the gut. Every muscle in my body, locked. For a split second, I couldn't breathe. I stood there, rooted to the floor, my mind scrambling for an escape plan that didn't exist. My pulse pounded in my ears, loud enough to drown out everything else. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. I was supposed to get in, find something—anything—and get out before she returned. Not stand here like an idiot waiting to get caught.
The sound of the door unlocking echoed through the suite. Then— the door swung open. Casey walked in. She didn't even notice me at first. Her heels clicked sharply against the polished marble floor as she stepped inside, tossing her purse carelessly onto the nearest chair. Her movements were erratic and impatient—like she was carrying too much energy and didn't know what to do with it.
