Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 The End of an Era and the Beginning of a New Era

Sometime would since the Cozy Glow incident without any major event until today when both Celestia and Luna announce that their retiring as rulers of Equestria and naming Twilight as their successor with help from her friends but she would then become stressed out leading to her friend to remind their accomplishments and how that there hasn't been a single adversary they couldn't beat however unbeknownst to everyone someone has gathered Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow in order defeat Twilight and her friends and the being who brought Twilight's most dangerous adversaries together would be Grogar the Father of Monster who's plan is for Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow to join forces with him in order to take over Equestria but Sombra doesn't want to work with the others stating that he can the Crystal Empire on his own and destroy anyone who gets in his way then Grogar would say is that so then what about the one who took your eyes. Upon hearing Grogar's comment King Sombra would realize that there was more to Grogar's plan leading to Grogar to state that other than Twilight Sparkle and her friends there is another person who is a bigger threat then Twilight Sparkle and her friends leading to Queen Chrysalis, King Sombra, Lord Tirek and Cozy Glow to say in unison Lorien to which Grogar would say that is correct adding and do you know why he is such a threat to which King Sombra would state when he fights he fights without fear then Chrysalis would state when he strikes he is swift and precise then Tirek would state that he has so much power that when I tried to drain it from him it nearly killed finally Cozy would state also we don't know anything about Lorien to which Grogar would state you are all correct Lorien dangerous because he doesn't hesitate when he fights while making calculated decisions and the we don't know how much power he has nor do we nor anyone know anything about him which is why I suggest we strike at Lorien's heart. Grogar's statement everyone would say we're listening to which Grogar would suggest that Sombra attack the Crystal Empire in order to have Twilight Sparkle and her friends use the Elements of Harmony to defeat Sombra but you would only pretend to be defeat then would follow them back to the source of their power and destroy it then you will trap them or use your magic to control them and do the same to anyone you come across while on your way to Canterlot where you will use your magic on Lorien in to find out out what his weaknesses are then return here when you have completed your mission. Upon hearing Grogar's plan Sombra would say very well I will go with your plan if that means I get to have my revenge on Lorien leading to Grogar to use his magic to send Sombra to the Crystal Empire while he has Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow learn to work together. Once Sombra was sent to the Crystal Empire Twilight and her friends would arrive to the Crystal Empire and had brought the Elements of Harmony like Grogar predicted leading to Sombra to fake his defeat so he could follow them back to the Tree of Harmony where he would destroy it but Sombra instead of taking control of them he would leave the mane six trapped in his black crystals while he takes control of the people of Ponyville so he could lay Siege to Canterlot and would do just that however when Sombra along with mind controlled people of Ponyville arrive they would face resistance from Lorien's troops who were much hard to mind control then after getting passed Lorien's troops Sombra would come face to face with Lorien himself leading to the two of them to clash during which Sombra would use his magic not to take control him but to find his weakness but would only see one person leading to Lorien to force Sombra out of his mind which would right as the mane six arrive to aid Lorien but then Sombra would begin to laugh leading to Lorien and the mane six to demanded to know why Sombra is laughing to which Sombra answer by stating that I achieved what I came here to do now it's time for me leave but I will return and I will not be alone, after making that statement Sombra would create crystal which he would use to escape. After Sombra had escaped everyone would wonder what did he mean by won't be alone when he returns then it would be Lorien who realized what Sombra meant leading to him to order some of his troops to check on Tirek's and Cozy Glow's cell with said troops reporting back stating that both Tirek and Cozy Glow are gone which would shock everyone leading to Lorien to realize that one who received Sombra must be the same one who free Tirek and Cozy Glow from Tartarus and is mostly like gathering our remaining enemies in order to defeat us once and for all but then adds when that day comes we will be ready for them. Back at Grogar's lair we find Cozy Glow trying to get Tirek and Chrysalis to start working together but the two of even though they have a common enemies refuse to work together then Grogar would enter with Sombra appearing as well leading to Grogar to demand to know what Sombra had learned to which Sombra would show everyone what he had learned when he used his magic on Lorien even though it wasn't much but he believed it was worth showing. With help from Grogar's crystal ball Sombra would show them that in Lorien's mind the parts he was able to see he learn about a person named Nova Spirit and that Lorien cares about her even more than his own sisters and most importantly Nova Spirit is Lorien's aid which means wherever Lorien goes she is goes. Sombra would also explain that when he use his magic on Lorien's troops they resisted. After hearing what Sombra had learned Grogar would begin working a plan on how to defeat Twilight Sparkle and her Friends as well as Lorien starting with find his bewitching bell then would have Sombra, Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow retrieve it which they would but they would lie about it only after they managed to work together after deciding that see the defeated and broken looks on Twilight Sparkle her friends and Lorien's faces was worth working together. Over the next few months Sombra, Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow would work on their own plan to defeat the mane six and Lorien by using Grogar's bewitching bell but they had first learn how to use the bell which would lead to the the four to look for any information on how to use the bell which would lead to them to head for Canterlot specifically the restricted area of the Canterlot archive for any information on how to use the bell but would find that the security has be upgraded with Lorien adding extra precautions upon arriving to Canterlot find difficulty finding a way in but then they would get an idea which was to sow some chaos which would work for a little bit before Lorien's troops would realize that there are intruders in Canterlot then after find a few ponies drained of their magic. With the Royal Guard and Lorien's troops now altered that Sombra's, Tirek's, Chrysalis's and Cozy Glow's presence with both the Royal Guards and Lorien's troops currently searching for the four intruders while said intruders try to enter the archive while avoiding the guards but would manage to reach the archives after some minutes where they would find a book that held the answers on how to use the Bewitching Bell but also would get an idea to make sure their plan to defeat the mane six and Lorien succeed by turn Earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi against each other, meanwhile back at Canterlot Lorien's troops would report to Prince Lorien on they discovered that Sombra, Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow had stolen a book from the Canterlot archive which Lorien would realize why the four intruders had stolen said specific book with Lorien was hoping that he was wrong which would lead to Lorien to make some extra precautions if he is right. A few months would pass since Sombra, Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow had broken into the Canterlot archive during that time Chrysalis, Sombra and Cozy Glow would sow distrust between Earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi while succeeding with the civilian population that wasn't the case with Lorien's troops all the while Tirek would discover the spell to unlock the power of Grogar's Bewitching Bell which would be use release the store magic in the bell into their bodies leading to the four of them getting a power boost which would lead to the four to turn on Grogar and drain his magic but would discover that Grogar was actually Discord who would flee learn that he powers of chaos was taken from him after his disguise was dispelled. Hours later at Canterlot everyone would prepare for Twilight's coronation however Lorien's troops along with Lorien himself would notice that something was wrong then suddenly Discord would appear and to everyone surprise he had walk on foot then he would confess that he was the one who had received Sombra while also freed Tirek and Cozy Glow from the cell in Tartarus and gather the three of them and Chrysalis together in order for Twilight to defeat them giving her the confidence she need to rule Equestria. Upon what Discord had planned Lorien would be the one to scold him for what he had done and for not taking into account that the four he had gathered would make their own plan which included turning on to which Discord would reply by saying that was an serious oversight on my part then Lorien would turn his attention to Twilight and ask what is the plan to which Twilight after hearing what Discord did which would be a blow to her confidence she would first send letters to her brother and Cadance as well Star Swirl and the Pillars inform them of the coming also altering Starlight who is now in charge of the School of Friendship that Chrysalis will be coming for her. After Twilight explained the plan Lorien would also order his troops to prepare for the coming attack then he would turn his attention to Discord then says so you though it was a good idea to have Sombra, Tirek, Chrysalis and Cozy Glow retrieve Grogar's Bewitching Bell instead of doing yourself knowing that bell holds of all the late Grogar's powers. Upon hear the last part of Lorien's last statement everyone was would ask him but would be interrupted by Lorien who would answer by saying the real Grogar had been dead for millennium and it was his father that killed him. Later the Mane Six, Celestia, Luna, Discord and Lorien along with his troop would ready themselves for the coming attack then suddenly Cozy Glow would enter the throne room after overpowering the Royal Guard which would lead to the two sisters to fire a magic blast at her to which Lorien warns his sisters but it was too late Cozy Glow would use the Bewitching to drain their magic leading to Lorien to order his troops that where in the throne room to open fire on Cozy Glow with weapons she and everyone else haven't seen before which was causing to struggle against Lorien's troops putting her on the defensive and would be unable to drain the magic from the strange weapons leading to Lorien to states that it's no surprise the bell is unable to drain the magic from the strange weapons which Lorien calls Energy Lances which use crystals as a power source making it impossible for the bell to drain the magic from the Lances since they are not living beings. After a moment Lorien's troops along with the Mane Six will be able to subdue her for a moment but then suddenly Tirek, Sombra and Chrysalis would arrive as reinforcement for Cozy Glow along with some of Lorien's troops who would apologize for falling under the control of Sombra who was only able take control of their bodies but not their minds to which Lorien would say it's alright you didn't expect Sombra's mind control magic had become stronger. Cozy Glow, Tirek, Sombra and Chrysalis would be referred to as the Legion of Doom would be begin to gloat over their apparent victory while Twilight puts up a barrier to her friends the two sisters and Discord while Lorien does the same with his troops then Twilight would state that the Legion of Doom won't win not as long as Equestria is united in friendship this would cause the four to begin to laugh at her statement then would state that the Legion have been busy sowing distrust between the people of Equestria leading to the four to obliterate a sizable portion of the castle. After destroying a part of the castle the Legion of Doom would then state that one someone is consumed with fear they focus on their own safety they have no time for Friendship just as they were about to kill after breaking her barrier but before they Rarity would hurling a boulder at them free Twilight long then the Legion would fire a combined magic blast at the group leading to said group to create a rock barrier long enough where her friends ask Twilight to escape which Twilight refuses to abandon them to which they state that she will come with a plan to defeat the Legion leading to Twilight tearfully teleports away while the others are completely overwhelmed by Sombra, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy's power. As for Lorien he would order his troops to retreat and order each of the them that belong to their respective Pony race to while he works on his own plan. A moment later the Legion of Doom had imprisons Twilight's friends, the two sister, the Pillars and Discord in the catacombs under Canterlot while using the magic-canceling shards of Chrysalis' old throne to keep them subdued. The members Legion of Doom began to disagree to on what to do next, Cozy wanted to destroy their prisoners but Chrysalis believes they should break Equestria's hero's first while having fun breaking Tirek believes they should search for Twilight Sparkle stating as long she is out there she is a threat but Chrysalis brushes it off mocking that he is worrying over one little pony then states that her friends aren't going anywhere but then Sombra interject stating that they should be searching for Lorien stating that as long as he's out there he poses the biggest threat to our plans to which the others agree but state they don't know where he is at the moment nor how much troops he has then Sombra would states that before Twilight and Lorien had fled he overheard that Lorien order his troops to protect the Earth ponies, unicorns, and Pegasi leading to believe that Lorien has thinned out his forces however they don't know the size of Lorien's forces. While the Legion was debating on their actings Discord would apologize state he had the best intentions and had no idea his plan could astray and promises to make it up to them. After their debate turn into an argument about using the bell to transfer the two sisters magic into them but Tirek states that until they learn to control Discord's chaos magic they are to leave all magic in the bell then Discord would say he could tell them how to use his chaos magic on the condition that the Legion spare his friends which Twilight's friends ask him to do did then Cozy would ask nicely to know how to use hsi but Chrysalis would demand that he tells them but Tirek states that they can trust Discord since Tirek betrayed him then Sombra suggest that he uses his magic to pry the information out of Discord to which Discord remarks that even if you could enter his mind you wouldn't be able to find the information you want you probably shatter your mind then would say I also won't tell that muscle-bound cretin Tirek since he lied to me last tiem we teamed up. Upon hearing what Discord called him Tirek would give Discord a warning to choose his words carefully or he will destroy him before Discord could even blink then Discord would get under Tireks skin by say that he is a pathetic centar he steals magic to compensate believe he would never please his father King Vorak which was just was need for Tirek to fire a magic blast at Discord who would reflect the blast with a crystal rock which would destroy the magic shade nullifying Starlight's magic leading to her to free herself and the other prisoners long enough for Twilight's friend to escape so they could find Twilight. After escaping the catacombs they would encounter a male unicorn who looks to be in a panic state which would lead to the group to ask where is to which the unicorn answers that the unicorns have been gathering at School for Gifted Unicorns then they would ask about the Earth Ponies and Pegasi to which the unicorn answers it's everypony for themselves then would run towards School for Gifted Unicorns making the group realize that what the Legion said was true how thy have turn the ponies of Equestria. A moment later the group would arrive in Ponyville hoping to find Twilight there but wouldn't however they would find Earth Ponies who were part of Lorien's troops leading to the group to ask them about why is all Lorien's troops divided by their respective pony race to which one of the troops a stallion named flint would say you think we wanted to separate from the others then would states Prince Lorien gave us orders to protect the people of Equestria based on our pony race then another one of Lorien's troops a mare named Spinel would say Prince Lorien also order us to show everypony the recording we made while the Legion of Doom were bragging about how they have been sowing distrust between the people of Equestria which would calm them a bit as well as the fact that Lorien's troops are protecting them. After seeing that Twilight wasn't in Ponyville after a moment of think Spike realized that Twilight is currently in the Crystal Empire where they would find Twilight who was trying to come up with a plan to free her friends, the Princess, the Pillars and Discord while trying to figure out a way to defeat the Legion of Doom but was unable which dealt a serious blow to her confidence with her friends arrival would only damage her confidence even more to the point where she begins to fall into despair which would lead to her friends to comfort her and state while she may not believe that she hasn't made a difference she has made a difference to them further stating that their lives are better because they met her. That statement was exactly what was need to raise Twilight's spirit then Cadance and Shinning Armour would enter the room asking how they could help them to which Twilight would explain that they both need to stay and protect Flurry Heart in case they fail she is Equestria's only hope. Back at Canterlot the Legion of Doom had once again imprisoned Starlight Glimmer, Discord and the princesses then the Legion would notice the cold weather with Tirek and Sombra noticing that the Windigos are the ones causing the cold weather. Seeing the Windigos the Legion would debate whether or not to eradicate the Windigos with Crystal believe that if they wait until Equestria's a frozen wasteland then eradicate the Windigos making the people of Equestria so grateful they would do what the Legion wants but Tirek states the Windigos are ancient magic with it being unwise to leave them unchecked and should eradicate them now with Sombra agree with Tirek believing they would have no idea of how many people would survive then Cozy would state that they should first deal with Twilight Sparkle and her friends first then pointing out that they had just appear in field outside Canterlot leading to the final showdown between the Mane Six and the Legion of Doom. With both the Mane Six and the Legion would be the fight that will determine the fate of Equestria. As the battle begins Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash would fight the Legion long enough for Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy and Spike to retrieve the Bewitching Bell but Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy realize what they were trying to do while Sombra realized the same thing but wouldn't enter the fight for some reason then the Legion threaten to kill Spikes off leading to the Mane Six to surrender then the Legion would fire a combine blast with the intending for it to be the killing blow but then the Mane Six find themselves shielded by a magic barrier but don't know who created it but they would see an army of not just ponies but dragons, griffons, changelings, Hippogriffs, yaks, and multiple other creatures a top the hill who have arrived to help the Mane Six with the majority of the army charging at the Legion of Doom while the unicorns levitate the Mane Six and Spike to safety. After being levitated to safety Twilight being shocked after seeing the ponies united and fighting together with other races asking how are they all here to which Young Six would explain when the Windigos appeared Twilight's student began to share what they learned at the School of Friendship reminding them that being likes the Windigos are win only when we are divided but together we can defeat any threat then Lorien's troops would also share with everyone their experience serving under Prince Lorien as well as mention that Prince Lorien had done more for all Equestria more they will ever know. Hearing Twilight's have made more of a difference then she fought then suddenly Twilight and the others would see that despite being out numbered the Legion of Doom would manage to use their respective magics to over power the untied army then Lorien would appear then orders his troops take the wounded and pull back to the top of the hill to which they would saying yes sir. Now that his troops were pulling back to the top of the hill with the wounded Lorien was ready to fight the Legion but became curious why they were smirking leading to Lorien to ask why do you have the look of someone who is about to obtain victory to which Sombra would be the one to answer by saying we have been waiting for your arrival now we will use you to crush everyone. Upon answer Lorien's question Sombra would use his enhanced powers t take control of Lorien's mind while having face his worst fear however something unexpected would happen Lorien's eyes were green for a moment but then would turn black then Nova Spirit realize what was happen and would tell everyone to ready themselves because Sombra had just awoken the darkness inside Lorien. Upon warning Lorien would be engulfed in a pillar of darkness the after a moment something would emerge from the pillar and it would wouldn't be Lorien but a creature made of shadows that stood on two legs while having four arms a dragon like tail with spear like tip at the end it's wings would like that of a dragons but almost looked metallic and it's head would look like a pony but would have two horns the front with two bull like horns on the side. The creature that appeared from the pillar would then roar which nearly sent everyone including the Legion flying then something would happen to the creature it would begin to shrink to Lorien's size with said person appearing but would turn the shadow into black armour which would cover his wings making them as share as blades while rest of the shadow would turn into armour like the Royal Guards wear but with one difference it being the helmet which would cover Lorien's face while have a face mask that cover only his mouth with the mask look like a monster with fangs then Lorien opened his eyes revealing that they were now black with a green slitted pupil. After seeing the transformation everyone including the Legion of Doom then suddenly Lorien would disappear with Chrysalis now screaming in pain leading to everyone to look and see that Lorien had not only appeared behind her but also had just torn of her wings then would follow by breaking off her horn which Lorien would use to cut Sombra's horn and one of his eyes followed by slashing Chrysalis, Sombra's and Tirek's legs as well as Tirek's arms then would use his magic to pin Chrysalis, Sombra, Tirek and Cozy Glow to the ground by their throat then would state I should have killed you four when I had the chance a mistake I will not be making again then use both Chrysalis and Sombra's broken horn Lorien's use the shadow magic to turn both horns into four axes then began to ready to strike leading to Nova Spirit realize that Lorien is plan to kill the members of the Legion of Doom causing everyone to become horrified including the Legion who for first time in their lives are not just experiencing fear but terror especially Cozy since she is a child. As Lorien was ready to deal the kill blow to the Legion Nova Spirit would use her magic restrain the axes stopping Lorien from kill the Legion leading to Lorien to demand to know why she stop him from doing what is necessary to which Nova would say in a voice that had a little bit of a begging tone with Nova asking Lorien not do kill them leading to Lorien to look into her eyes seeing something no one else would see but then Twilight would say enough state because of the Legion of Doom she nearly lost my way but thanks to everyone here they had true power of ENOUGH! Because of you four , I almost lost my way! But everycreature here has reminded me of the true power of friendship! There will always be darkness in the world, but there will also always be those who find the light! The Pillars knew this! That's why they created the Elements of Harmony! The Elements showed me and my friends how strong our friendship could be! Together we worked to bring harmony to Equestria! But there will always be more to do! Which is why we teach others about the Magic of Friendship! Others who will continue our mission after we are gone! Now I truly understand! The Elements were just symbols! The real magic has always been right here! And the more who understand how powerful friendship is, the stronger we will all be! Together! After making that statement Twilight would harness the power from the Pillars, her friends and her six students which would be strong enough magic blast to banish the Windigos and strip the Legion of Doom stolen power while also banishing Sombra and would also purge foreign magic from Lorien's body returning to normal. After returning Discord's and his sisters magic Lorien would destroy Grogar's Bewitching Bell everyone would turn their attention to Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow decide what would be their punishment but Lorien would make the decision by send the three to a prison that only Lorien and his troops are the only ones who know the location where Chrysalis and Tirek will send the rest of their lives with Cozy will spend the next ten your of her of her life in a prison cell then will spend the rest of her life as caretaker of Chrysalis and Tirek. After giving the three's punishment Lorien would order his troops to take to their cells but before leaving Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow would ask who is Nova Spirit to him and how is she more important then his own sisters to which Lorien would state I have no reason to answer you three and with that Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow were now in their cells. After Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow were locked up Lorien was about to leave but before he could leave Discord would stop him after the question Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow had ask with everyone else wondering the same thing to which Lorien would only answer by saying one day I will tell you everything but not today. A short while later it was now Twilight's coronation which would be a total disaster which Lorien who was overseeing security found amusing but he felt in his heart that his time was running out.
