Chapter 10 - Servants First Mission

[]

So let's start with discarding the trash summons and then dealing with the goodies.

The Laser Crusader will be sent to RnD, Kali was sure they'll love the new tank to play with.

The more exotic stuff shall stay in her private quarters and vaults for use later.

But the British Museum, hmm, Kali was sure the Fatui would love to see all the things the Brits "Borrowed" from all the other cultures on Earth.

As for the heroic spirit summon set, best to get that over and done with now, as no doubt she will forget to do it later.

"Oh, my."

Before anything else could be said, a bright light flashed and a burning sensation spread across Kalis ' body as crimson Command Seals magically formed on her skin around her torso, arms and back.

Once the light subsided, a colourful group of various female beings stood before her.

They looked at each other with surprise as it's not every day you're summoned with other Servants in the same summoning area.

But once they saw the bridge and what lay outside the viewport, the planet once known as HQ was now renamed Sol Nova.

Suffice to say, it was amusing to get these ancient(?) figures up to speed on the day and age that they found themselves summoned into.

Kali had to guide them to a conference room and set up a projector with some help from IT and other technical staff on board to bring up all the relevant information they needed to immerse themselves in.

Kali stressed the importance of the coming reaper invasion and the purpose of the Black Fleet, from once safeguarding humanity to now dealing with alien threats that they couldn't deal with, be it from political reasons or the fact that they would refuse to deal with it, like rogue states, terrorist organizations, the Collectors, and others.

"This brings us to a mission I would like you all to partake in," Kali said to the 14 servants around the room.

"Master, why do you say it like we have a choice in the matter?" Mooncancer said to which Kali responded.

"That's because you do have a choice, I want you all to take this to heart, I am not in the business of forcing people to do things they don't want to do, you like the Fatui I've summoned and all the other humans who have joined on their own volition have the freedom of choice to ether help me with my goals or you can leave, and I'll help you build a new life out there in this galaxy." Kali didn't need to repeat what she said earlier to them.

This galaxy was on borrowed time, the Reapers would return to enact their harvest, and all would be targeted outside of those living beyond the influence of the Mass Relays, so if they lost the conventional fight, they could run away to places that the Reapers would never be able to reach within several lifetimes, more than enough time to build up again and finish the job properly.

"I have no intentions of sitting a fight out, Master." Rider said, her yellow eyes bearing down on Kalis ' own more golden ones.

A glance among the other Servants showed some of them willing to fight even though Kali had given them a choice for a calmer life outside of fighting.

"Alright then, those who don't want to partake in the mission I have in mind, please follow my lovely Fatui guard to a transport which will send you to get your civilian IDs." After gesturing to some Mirror Maidens, Electrohammers, and others, Kali found her newly summoned Servants not moving an inch.

Seeing no movement for a minute or so, Kali had them follow her towards the command deck on the station they were on.

After a small trek, Kali moved to a console on a holo table, fiddling with it while her servants took positions around the table.

"May I please have your attention," Kali said, taking on a somewhat stern commanding tone.

The table lit up, specialised lights projected a colourful sphere which took the form of an alien planet.

"This is Palaven, Homeworld of the Turians, the military arm and premier peacekeeping force of the Citadel Council, and the location of the target I'm sending you at." Clicking the console, the image zoomed in, and on the table, a cityscape formed, but highlighted in red was a strange-looking building, giving the impression of some sort of church or site of worship.

"This building has been identified to have links to Reaper indoctrinated Turians, ideally I would have sent a fleet in to perform targeted orbital bombardment, leveling the whole structure, however, given how insidious introduction can be, I need a team to infiltrate the structure to secure information to find out if there are anymore of those who may or may not have links to individuals or other sites that have also been compromised by Reaper influence."

The group of heroic spirits gazed at the image before them, taking in the infostructure details and other information that was popping up on screen.

"So, once you have that information, you want everyone there killed and this building destroyed," the Beast Servant said.

"Exactly," Kali responded.

"How are you going to get us onto the planet without these aliens noticing?" The Assassin said.

"You'll infiltrate using Prowlers, stealth ships which should get you in and out, provided nothing goes wrong, however, should something go wrong for whatever reason, I'll be committing a full battlegroup to get you all out." Kali then showed a list of vessels that would be sent in order to extract her Servants from the surface of Palaven.

1 Valiant, 3 Epochs, 5 Orion's, 7 Athens, and 6 Marathons with dozens of supporting Frigates and Destroyers of various classes.

The number went over the hundred mark as Palavan, being the Homeworld of the Turians, it would surely be guarded by the most venerable forces as befitting of one's Homeworld, and given the nature and disposition of the Turians, they would be significant forces, and once outer patrol groups and closer to home anchored fleets slip their moorings to join the defence, Kali theorised the battle to escalate to 1 to 4 odds.

"While this force will be sent to secure a way out, I am also going to give you a rather special trinket." Kali fished out the Invasion Invite Ticket from her cleavage, drawing wandering eyes to the act.

"Tear this, and you'll summon a fitting distraction to occupy the attention of the Turians, however, if it displays an interface menu, you are to contact me immediately, understood." The servants nodded to her order.

Kali knew that infiltrating Palaven and destroying that temple after securing the desired information would alert the hierarchy and they would respond with decisive action, hence her giving the Ticket to her Servants to tear and create a distraction the Turians could not ignore.

As to what would be summoned upon tearing the ticket remained to be seen, Kali hopes she could at least choose the foe that would be brought into this existence.

"The mission will be launched in 4 days. Any questions?" Kali asked the assembled Servants as they were gawking at the number of ships she had control over.

Two days later, Kali was giving her Servants the grand tour around Sol Nova.

The capital city, Sol Terra, while small, was a very modern-looking place with all the bells and whistles of exotic technology dotting the place.

The space port had many transports going to and from other places on the planet, and in its centre, the skeleton of a space elevator was taking shape.

Branching out of the port were two main roads and many train tracks running off into the nearby countryside which connected to other small villages and towns, which were residential and farms along with other villages focusing on industry or training facilities and storage zones.

In other areas around or further away from the space port was landscapes and buildings shaped in a way that the fatui were very familiar with.

European-like Mondstadt towns, a Chinese Lieyu Harbour copy, a lovely plateau filled with lakes and French buildings of Fontaine.

With Kali's first summons, help from herself and the native humans of this reality, along with the wonderful items from the [Store], terraforming this world was smooth going, some areas required a bit of effort to sort out, creating a plateau for a pseudo-advanced French architect was no small feat of engineering and landscaping.

On matters of the fleet, not the System made one, but the regular natural space fleet.

In a short amount of time, Sol Nova was the anchorage of a budding collective of experimental hybrid warships and civilian haulers.

The main hull frames were based on Alliance frames but much of the internals were outfitted with the new technologies created by the RnD teams and built by the engineers, all of which was funded on Kalis system made money along with the spare 'charity' funds provided by their numerous growing store and company fronts.

And of course the were still talent scouting, plenty of alliance personnel were still disgruntled by the way their government was acting towards the aliens, seemingly bending over backwards to accommodate for Citadel Law.

It did help the Council continued to pressure the newly inducted race into handing over the Black Fleet and all technology related to them.

So far, Fenja has informed her that the Alliance is doing well in diverting the eye of the Council towards more uncivilised sectors of humanity's domain, rather than in their industrial heartland, where recovered vessels from the First Contact War were being disassembled and designs being worked into the future blueprints of the new modern Navy.

Kali also found out that certain pro-human organizations were on the rise, Terra Firma being one, and surprisingly, Cerberus being another.

Kali played with the idea of dealing with them, but dismissed it entirely, as cruel as it may seem, letting these two radical organizations loose in the galaxy would ultimately redirect attention away from her Black Fleet for a time, and their fighters would be useful once the Reapers arrived, on the bright side, the Illusive Man wouldn't be compromised by Reaper indoctrination, so Jack would be working towards humanity's better rather than opposing it.

Next was to delegate certain tasks amongst her followers and finally, the finalisation of the selection process for her elite fighting force of Arbiters and Astartes.

One of her upgrades from the system allowed her to jumpstart the technology and chemical creation to make Spartans, add in [Store] bought items like GeenSeed and manuals on how to make a Space Marine, which drained her Credit Storage considerably, and add in Fenja Bio Tinkering prowess along with the enlightenment of the RnD teams.

Her personal super soldier ranks were about to be made realised.

Several Fatui had already been selected, showing loyalty and unwavering devotion, a few regulars were considered as well, Kali also figured to add Fenja to the list as the AIS agent, despite playing the double agent role, was indeed loyal to the core to Kalis goals, so it was best to reward the lady.

The look of awe upon her servants' faces as they were boarding the Winter Class Prowler never got old, they marveled at the advanced forms of technology and foreign magics of the Fatui, even when they left through the Servant Bond, Kali could see through their eyes and ears at how the more magi-inclined servants chattered about the characteristics of Slip-Space travel.

But by the time exited the 11th dimension, the group of Heroic Spirits quietened down as their target planet came into view, along with the scores of civilian vessels darting in and out of the system and flying all over the world itself.

Even Kali herself was quiet at the sight of the alien world, yet the behaviour was so similar to that of human impulses, hundreds of millions of beings living out their life, spending money paying taxes.

Drinking, drugging, sleeping, eating.

So human yet so alien.

It made her think of her previous actions in the First Contact War, the carnage of what she wrought churned in her gut, thousands of beings, good soldiers following orders, murdered by her issuing kill orders on certain vessels.

Once her Servants destroy the temple, would she once be forced to issue more kill orders on beings simply defending their home, how many empty houses would she be creating on the market, how many families will be attending mass empty graves, how many children would live without their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, uncles and aunts, how many more innocents will she condemn on the road to defeat the Reapers.

Unpleasant as it was, someone had to do what she was doing, finding those indoctrinated individuals was a priority along with ensuring that no other being would fall under the Reapers influence.

Her only hope in avoiding causing a massive crisis was for her Servants to act fast and efficiently.

For that, she had one of her top infield tech experts and Xeno linguistic riding alongside her Servants in order to crack into the temple's digital files or something of an equivalent to allow her team to get what they needed in a timely manner.

Due to their involvement, they would be wearing specialized suits in order to protect themselves against the solar radiation bombarding the planet due to its weak magnetic field.

And that would make them quite slow, so it was up to her servants to help with their mobility.

"Alright, team, you know your mission: infiltrate the temple complex, gather all necessary information on all indoctrinated Turians, then level the building and get out on the way you came in"

Kali received a round of confirmation.

'Strange, I would have thought I'd get a quirky comment from them' she thought to herself as she watched the Prowler from her servant's eyes descend down onto the planet below.

It was nighttime where they were at, so that meant there would be very little chance of Kalis ' Servants being seen jumping out of the Prowler once it was above the target's location, and with a spell from Caster, they would float down safely onto the roof of the temple.

Kali had ordered Lancer and Archer to stay on the rooftop to provide a lookout for any unexpected arrivals while the rest entered the structure.

They quickly found a way inside through one of the roof access hatches, likely used for rooftop maintenance from time to time, the group then began searching for the temple's computer terminals, the first place they went to was the main office space for the bishop or something equivalent to a leader's quarters.

After some back and forth wondering, the Xeno linguist managed to guide the group towards the main office while avoiding any aliens that were still awake at this time of night on the planet.

'found it,' her Rider announced through the Servant Bond, and through their eyes, Kali saw a rather ornate office space set in a rather cliché way, a big window with curtains drawn open overlooking a city, a fancy wooden desk with a terminal on it within a decorative room.

"Excellent work, now let's get those files and see who has been affected outside of the temple." The tech expert got to work on hacking the terminal while the linguist helped them understand the language on screen.

In two minutes, the techy managed to break into the terminal and began searching for the files they needed.

Of course, that's when Archer delivered the bad news.

'I have spotted multiple incoming ground and air contraptions on a direct course for the temple'

Kali's mind iced over upon hearing those words.

She closed her eyes while sucking in some air, with hundreds of thoughts entering her mind on all the possibilities of why there were incoming Turians.

Proposition 1, the Prowlers' stealth systems were ineffective, which alerted the Turians military, but why allow them to land on the planet when it would be easier to do in space or in the atmosphere?

Proposition 2, the temple had a silent alarm system that alerted a security force sent to protect their secrets and deal with her Servants, but that contradicted what she knew about Reaper Indoctrinated individuals, in a hypothetical reality where they, for some reason, warded off her Servants, the military would investigate to find out why they tried to infiltrate the temple and perhaps stumble upon the dirty secrets within the temple.

Thinking about it any further wouldn't help the current situation; the fact was her team was compromised and needed to get out, but they could not leave without that information.

Exhaling and opening her eyes, Kali realized that she would need to use that Ticket to provide them with the distraction they needed.

"How much time do you need to get that information"

'Not enough,' the Assassin told her in a grim tone.

"I understand…Ciel, tear the ticket" through their eyes, Kali saw the bland ticket within the servant's hand rip and dissipate into motes of blue before forming into a selection wheel.
