But no matter what had happened to those mind powers, Daniel was completely unable to perceive any changes.

Daniel rubbed his chin and, after a brief period of contemplation, decided to temporarily abandon the idea of entering the "Land of Certain Death."
It was far too dangerous. Perhaps he should explore the other Forbidden Lands instead.
