Chapter 10 - Chapter 9 : The Price of TreasonThe absolute silence inside the massive martial arena was deafening ( Season 1 )

It was a suffocating, heavy silence that seemed to press down on the chests of the hundreds of spectators, elders, and young disciples gathered around the stone perimeter. Not a single person dared to breathe loudly. Their eyes were glued in sheer, unadulterated shock to the mangled, bloody heap lying motionless on the cracked surface of the Iron-Cage Arena—the broken body of Wu-Tian.

Just minutes prior, Wu-Tian had been hailed as the undisputed genius of the Wu Clan's younger generation. He had stood inside that very cage radiating a terrifying Fifth-Stage Ki-Refine aura, backed by volatile forbidden pills and holding a lethal, dark-market poisoned needle hidden within his sleeve. He was meant to be the absolute executioner of a helpless cripple.

Now, his cultivation core was pulverized, his primary meridians were shattered beyond repair, and his arrogance was reduced to wet crimson stains on the cold stone.

CRACK.

The sound of heavy leather boots stepping over the twisted, broken remains of the iron cage door shattered the stillness.

Li-Wen emerged into the bright afternoon sunlight. His dark robes were completely pristine, untouched by a single speck of dust or a drop of blood. He adjusted his sleeves with a slow, methodical grace that belonged to a high ruler, not a fifteen-year-old youth who had just emerged from a death-match. His eyes, faint gold swirling deep within his dark pupils, swept across the trembling crowd with the absolute, chilling indifference of an ancient deity looking down upon insignificant ants.

"T-This is impossible..." Deacon Han, the bribed Academy judge, stammered uncontrollably from the official pavilion. His face was drained of all color, his lips trembling so violently that he could barely articulate his words. "He... he shattered a Fifth-Stage Ki-Refine cultivator's Dantian with his bare hands... Without a weapon... Without a single scratch..."

High on the central tribunal platform, Second Elder Wu-Guang looked as though his very soul had been torn from his body. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and bulging with a mixture of disbelief, horror, and a rapidly erupting, murderous rage.

"Tian'er!" Wu-Guang's roar split the sky like a strike of thunder.

Abandoning all decorum, Wu-Guang leaped from the high platform, his body blurring through the air before crashing onto the arena floor. The force of his landing shattered the surrounding stone tiles into a cloud of white dust. Ignoring the sharp debris, he scrambled frantically toward his son, scooping Wu-Tian's limp, blood-soaked upper body into his arms.

"My... my Dantian... father..." Wu-Tian wheezed out, coughing up thick, dark clots of blood that stained Wu-Guang's expensive silk robes. His eyes were unfocused and filled with tears of unimaginable agony. "He... he destroyed my spiritual foundation... kill him... father, kill him!"

Wu-Guang pressed his right palm against Wu-Tian's chest, desperately channeling his own dense, Earth-Realm Ki into his son's body to stabilize his vital organs. But the moment his energy crossed into Wu-Tian's torso, Wu-Guang's heart sank into an icy abyss.

There was nothing left.

The spiritual sea inside Wu-Tian's lower abdomen was a ruined, hollow void. His major meridians had been severed and twisted into useless knots by a terrifying, oppressive force. The internal damage was absolute. No low-grade pill, no high-tier doctor, and no rare spirit grass in the entire province could ever repair this level of destruction. Wu-Tian was now a permanent, helpless cripple—a fate infinitely worse than death for a proud martial artist.

"You venomous monster!" Wu-Guang snapped his head toward Li-Wen, his face twisting into a demonic mask of pure hatred. Tears of rage mingled with the blood on his trembling hands. "You used forbidden, evil arts to cripple the future hope of our family! Under the sacred laws of the Wu Clan, murdering or sabotaging a fellow kinsman during an assessment is high treason—punishable by immediate execution!"

BOOM!

A suffocating, blood-red aura exploded from Wu-Guang's frame. As a veteran martial artist at the Peak of the Earth-Realm, his full-power spiritual pressure descended upon the entire arena like a falling mountain. The ground cracked in concentric circles beneath his feet.

In the front rows of the spectator stands, dozens of low-tier outer disciples doubled over, clutching their chests and gasping frantically for air under the crushing weight of the aura. Several younger children burst into tears, terrified by the sheer murder intent flooding the air.

Yet, in the very epicenter of this raging storm of pressure, Li-Wen remained completely motionless. His posture was unnaturally straight, his hands casually folded behind his back. The oppressive Earth-Realm pressure, which should have forced a normal teenager to their knees with broken bones, seemed to slide off his shoulders like light rain off a marble statue.

"Laws?" Li-Wen sneered quietly. His voice was not loud, yet it carried an strange, reverberating resonance that pierced directly through Wu-Guang's roaring aura. "When your son brought a Seven-Night Paralysis Needle into a formal family assessment, where were your sacred laws? When you bribed a foreign judge to alter the rules of a simple spar into a closed iron-cage death-match, where was your righteousness?"

"Shut your mouth!" Wu-Guang bellowed, his eyes practically oozing blood. "A cripple has no right to speak of righteousness! Eradicating a traitor to the clan requires no morality!"

Wu-Guang's right palm ignited with a violent, crimson flame. The heat was so intense that the air around his arm began to warp and shimmer. He took a heavy step forward, his boot pulverizing the stone, and lunged toward Li-Wen like a blood-crazed predator.

An Earth-Realm palm strike delivered in full fury was enough to vaporize iron, let alone a youth's flesh and bone.

"Wu-Guang, touch him and I will slaughter your entire lineage!"

A thunderous, authoritative roar reverberated from the main clan pavilion. Clan Head Wu-Wen blurred across the sky like a flash of lightning, his long grey hair whipping wildly behind him. He landed with a heavy thud directly between Li-Wen and the incoming flaming palm.

Without hesitation, Wu-Wen raised his broad palm, unleashing his own surging, oceanic blue Ki to meet Wu-Guang's crimson flames head-on.

RUMBLE—BOOM!

The collision of two Earth-Realm powerhouses produced a deafening shockwave that ripped up the surrounding floorboards, sending a blast of burning wind and dust flying into the stands. Both elders were forced back three paces by the kinetic recoil, their boots leaving deep grooves in the stone floor.

"Wu-Guang! Have you completely lost your sanity?!" Wu-Wen roared, his chest heaving as he shielded Li-Wen behind his back. His face was flushed with protective fury, his long sword partially unsheathed at his waist. "The death-match was initiated by your son! The terms were sealed before the entire clan council! Li-Wen won fair and square within the rules of the arena! If you dare lay a single finger on my son outside the match, I will fight you until one of us is buried!"

"Fair and square?!" Wu-Guang shrieked, his voice turning shrill with madness as he pointed a shaking, blood-covered finger at Li-Wen. "Look at my son! Look at what this bastard did to him! He didn't just win—he used demonic, dark techniques to destroy his Dantian! He ruined the future of the Wu Clan! Wu-Wen, if you stand in my way today to protect this demon, you are complicit in treason! You are an enemy of the entire elder council!"

At Wu-Guang's signal, five senior elders belonging to his political faction stepped down from the high tribunal. Their faces were stern, their expressions dark as they drew their long blades and heavy spears. They slowly fanned out, forming a deadly semicircle that trapped Wu-Wen and Li-Wen against the ruined iron cage.

The atmosphere in the arena reached an explosive, razor-thin breaking point. The spectating clan members backed away in terror. This was no longer an assessment; it was the prelude to an all-out civil war that could destroy the Wu Clan from within.

Standing calmly behind his father's protective frame, Li-Wen looked at the surrounding elders. There was no fear in his golden eyes—only a deep, amused disdain. To a former God Emperor who had commanded armies of celestial immortals, watching a group of low-level mortal elders wave crude steel weapons was almost comedic.

Li-Wen reached out and gently placed a hand on his father's shoulder.

"Father," Li-Wen said softly. His voice was cool, unhurried, and possessed a strange, soothing clarity that instantly cut through the tense, violent aura filling the space. "There is no need to exhaust yourself or spill your blood for dead men walking."

Wu-Wen turned his head in surprise, startled by the absolute calmness in his son's touch.

Li-Wen stepped casually around his father, walking directly into the center of the hostile circle. He reached into his dark robes and pulled out a small, metallic object, tossing it through the air toward Deacon Han on the judge's stand.

Deacon Han reflexively caught the object. But the moment his fingers closed around it and his eyes registered its shape, his entire body stiffened. His face turned a sickly, deathly grey, and he dropped the object as if it were a white-hot coal.

CLINK.

It was a heavy brass token engraved with the emblem of a coiling black viper—the undisputed official seal of the Shadow Viper Pavilion, the most feared dark-market assassin organization in the province. Rolled tightly inside the hollow base of the token was a small piece of parchment stamped with Deacon Han's personal official seal and signed in Wu-Guang's distinct handwriting, detailing the exact transaction for purchasing a draft of Seven-Night Paralysis Poison.

"W-Where... where did you get this?!" Deacon Han squeaked, his voice cracking into an embarrassed, terrified whimpering sound.

"The Shadow Viper Pavilion sells poison to anyone with gold," Li-Wen said, his voice dropping into a cold, lethal register that echoed off the stone walls. "But they sell secrets to those with power. An official Academy Judge conspiring with a local clan elder to introduce banned, military-grade paralysis poison into an official youth tournament... Tell me, Judge Han, if I forward this token and receipt directly to the Regional Alchemist Guild and the Imperial Academy Overseers today, how many generations of your family do you think will be beheaded for treason?"

Deacon Han collapsed onto his knees, trembling so violently that his forehead repeatedly slammed against the wooden railing of his stand. "Spare me... Young Master Li-Wen, spare me! I was coerced! It was Second Elder Wu-Guang who forced my hand!"

A collective gasp rippled through the tribunal. The five elders who had drawn their weapons to support Wu-Guang froze in their tracks. They looked at the token on the floor, then at the groveling judge, and finally at Wu-Guang's pale, sweating face.

Smuggling banned dark-market poison into a clan assessment was a high crime under Imperial law. Supporting a traitor exposed to such evidence meant total execution for their entire lineages. Without a word, the five elders silently sheathed their weapons, took three steps back, and bowed their heads, completely distancing themselves from the Second Elder.

Wu-Guang stood alone in the center of the ring, his face turning from red to a ghostly, hollow ash. His breath came in ragged, desperate gasps.

Li-Wen took two slow steps toward Wu-Guang. The surrounding crowd held their breath as the fifteen-year-old youth looked down at the Peak Earth-Realm elder as if he were nothing more than a speck of dirt beneath his boot.

"You sought my death today," Li-Wen murmured, his golden pupils flashing with an ancient, terrifying authority that made Wu-Guang's soul shudder. "I will spare your pathetic life for now... so that you may sit in your empty hall, watch your genius son rot as an immobile cripple, and witness everything you spent decades building crumble into dust.

Li-Wen leaned in slightly, his voice dropping into a whisper that only Wu-Guang could hear. "Touch my father again, or plot another shadow in the dark, and I will not merely shatter a Dantian. I will erase your entire bloodline from the face of this world."

Without waiting for a response, Li-Wen turned his back on the paralyzed crowd, his dark robes fluttering gently in the breeze as he walked toward the exit of the arena, leaving behind a shattered faction and a legendary mark upon the history of the Wu Clan.
