Boom!
The chimera barely missed Shanny.
I managed to teleport the former maid just far enough to avoid the mutt's deadly assaults.
Since she was just teleported few steps away from where she collapsed, the chimera immediately set out to attack her again.
I turned to the shepherd.
"Jonah, save her!"
The spearman immediately charged into the hordes of enemies in front of him.
All the minions quickly surrounded Jonah and injured him with moderate wounds, but he pressed on anyway toward his comrade in danger.

He thrusted his spear so forcefully it broke through four Deathbringer at once, determined to overcome his obstacles.

He swung his spear so erratically and yet so precise that he swiftly carved a clear path ahead.

He wielded his spear so skillfully that he managed to reach Shanny in time and pulled her away from the chimera's follow-up assault.
Boom!

"Pull back, Shanny! I'll distract the chimera!"
The shepherd told his injured comrade.
Shanny did not question him.
She immediately rushed back to us through the path Jonah had cleared before the minions fully regenerated again.
"I'm sorry that I was caught off guard. It was hard to stay focused while I was under the Berserk's trance. I will need some time before I can use that skill again."
Shanny said to me as she replaced Jonah in the defensive line.
I nodded.
"That's fine. Recuperate for now and help Devisha and Darius repel the minions."
Thump!
Another sharp pain rushed through me.
Fortunately, I was able to suppress it and maintained my casting for the Sixth Circle spell.
Casting that teleportation spell for Shanny earlier used quite a lot of my mana.
I would need to draw more from my vessel to compensate for that stunt earlier. Or there would not be enough mana to cast the powerful spell that could kill the chimera.

A wall of thundering mist emerged on the harbor beyond the rise.
As a sub-elemental mage, Matrias had affinity for at least three other prime elements. In his case, it was fire, water, and wind.
He chose water as his second elemental magic and had been training hard to cast a fusion spell with it.
Turned out he finally managed to do just that.
What a time to be proud of my pupil.
I must match their effort.

Even though my body was already hurting from trying to force just a trickle of mana from my vessel, I had to force it to produce a huge stream.
I did not mind the pain. But it took forever to generate just enough even for a Third Circle spell. Let alone for a Sixth Circle.
Screech!
The chimera roared another disturbing scream. It summoned more unkillable minions throughout the rise.
Shanny, Darius, and Devisha barely managed to fend off those that tried to approach me.
But the problem was with Jonah.
Other than taunting the powerful chimera, the shepherd also had to reserve some of his focus to fight off some minions that went after him.
Only it was not just some minions.
Twelve to twenty creatures at once would leap at the shepherd.
Jonah would skillfully wield his enchanted spear and swiftly strike them all down in two or three movements.
He then would turn his attention back to the chimera, charge at it, and distract the mutt while I was casting my spell.
The shepherd managed to maintain the overwhelming combat routine by himself.
But the chimera kept summoning more and more minions, causing more enemies charging at him.
Jonah's skills were excellent and his strength was exceptional.
Even so, against enemies that kept healing themselves, his defense would certainly get breached eventually.
Kroah!
A fallen Dark Spawn regenerated itself under Jonah.
It thrusted its claws into his calves and tore them apart.
"Arrghh!"

The shepherd kicked the Dark Spawn away but fell to his knees afterward.
As Jonah became incapacitated, the chimera turned its bull head at the injured shepherd and prepared to obliterate him with its intense dark flames.
My Sixth Circle spell on the chimera had to wait.
I needed to teleport Jonah out of its assault trajectory first.
THUMP!
I suddenly lost control of my spell casting. The magic runes dissipated from my grasp.
My vision rapidly became blurry that everything soon turned into complete haze.
"Gaghh!"
Great pain struck me all over. I coughed up a large pool of blood and collapsed into it.
