"Go on, don't keep him waiting," Marvin Mitchell said, noticing the urgency in Crystal Foster's eyes. "Work can wait. The rest of the team at the lab isn't just sitting around doing nothing."
Crystal smiled. "But I don't want to take your paycheck for nothing. Things are mostly wrapped up." She pointed playfully out the window and stuck out her tongue. "I'll be off then."
Marvin nodded slightly as Crystal grabbed her bag and hurried over to Martin Riley, who immediately pulled her into a warm embrace.
Relaxed and trusting, she leaned into Martin's arms, clearly comfortable and secure.
Watching them from the window, Marvin felt a tightness in his chest. His gaze met Martin's, who was already watching him with narrowed eyes.
Martin had suspected Marvin's feelings for Crystal, and now he was sure. He frowned, his eyes filled with caution as he held Crystal even tighter, giving Marvin a challenging look.
