Chapter 372: My Wife Still Looks So Good Even Hanging Upside Down
Ling Shuangxue was currently experiencing a bit of a cerebral hemorrhage.
A literal one.
Reflected in her beautiful eyes was the image of an inverted palace.
But the palace wasn't upside down—she was.
Thinking of her current predicament, this fairy-like woman who had spent countless years in the Sword Sect without showing much emotion finally had an expression of shame and complex embarrassment appear on her face.
To begin with, her current location was the Sword Emperor's Secret Realm.
But this place she now found herself in wasn't the dark sword hall where the broken black blade had once been stored, nor the steamy pool where a certain young man and woman had their embarrassing first encounter.
This was a newly unlocked area.
Compared to the previous two, this place seemed like it was underground. The walls were earth-colored and slightly damp.
Strange murals covered the walls, glowing with bright light that spilled softly across the space, revealing the layout of this new hall.
The most striking feature was in the very center: a stone altar constructed from a pile of giant rocks.
Upon it stood a peculiar humanoid stone statue.
The statue wasn't large, but it was clad in odd stone armor, and its face was completely obscured.
Surrounding the altar was a formation of black stone swords arranged in a profound pattern. No one knew what they were made of, but they lay quietly across the floor, exuding an ancient, timeless aura.
However, the most visually striking thing in this space was what should have been the ceiling.
There, a still pool of water hung inverted, defying gravity, calmly occupying the space where the ceiling should have been.
The clear water reflected the scene below, and under the soft illumination of the glowing runes, it had a dreamlike beauty.
And it was this magical pool that had caused Ling Shuangxue's current awkward situation.
From one part of the pool, a tendril of water had extended downward like a tentacle.
At the end of this tendril, it had wrapped around a delicate and bare foot—
Ling Shuangxue's foot.
"Should be just under a stick of incense's worth of time left…"
The sword fairy let out a quiet breath.
At the moment, she resembled a mortal caught in a trap, hanging upside down in midair.
The thin stream of water, acting like a rope, had wrapped around her left foot, and showed no signs of letting go.
How had things turned out like this?
While using one hand to hold down the hem of her robe—still obediently obeying gravity—Ling Shuangxue began to retrace her steps.
Hmm… she hadn't really done anything wrong.
Time didn't flow in any predictable way within the Secret Realm.
While she occasionally used the access granted by Luo Wusheng to leave for some fresh air, she still had no way of knowing the exact time that had passed outside.
(But judging from how many times I've been caught and hung like this… a full day must've passed by now, right?)
Her eyes were a little dazed.
When the Sword Emperor Secret Realm's layout changed, she'd been in the pool that helped refine the Innate Sword Body, cultivating quietly.
With her Sword Heart fully formed, shaping her Sword Body had gone extremely smoothly.
At this rate, she might even finish in time to make it to the Immortal Nation Capital, to cheer on her beloved disciple during the Human Immortal List—alongside her Dao Companion.
But then… things went wrong.
Just as she finished a full circulation cycle in the pool and was preparing to rest—without even putting her socks and shoes back on—the scene before her suddenly changed.
The next thing she knew, she was here, in this upside-down room.
Before she even had time to make sense of the situation, something happened that made even her—who usually never lost composure—break form.
Woooong—!
A clear sword hum suddenly echoed, interrupting Ling Shuangxue's thoughts.
Her brows furrowed. Her upside-down body immediately tensed, her eyes filled with vigilance.
What's going on?
Isn't it too early?
Did I… miscalculate the time?
(But if it really has begun again, why hasn't the pool released me yet? How am I supposed to fight like this?)
Thoughts flickered rapidly through Ling Shuangxue's mind as she sensed something was off.
Then, a confused male voice reached her ears.
"...Shuangxue?"
That familiar voice she'd been thinking about made her elegant figure tremble slightly. She turned her gaze toward the source of the sound.
In this inverted world, a handsome youth dressed in snow-white robes stood, his eyes filled with puzzlement as he looked her up and down.
Seeing that unfiltered gaze lingering on her form—and thinking again of her current compromising position—Ling Shuangxue instinctively tried to struggle, attempting to break free from the water binding her left foot.
But then, as if in retaliation, the pool on the ceiling sent out another stream of water with lightning speed.
This time, it caught her right foot.
The immortal sword fairy, who had never once shown such a helpless image before others, felt her body temperature rising rapidly.
Her rosy lips bit down tightly. Her eyes darted awkwardly away.
She pressed her robe down even more firmly to avoid exposing herself.
Still, she didn't tell him not to look at her. Instead, remembering something, she warned him with a worried voice:
"Be careful..."
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The youth who had entered the Sword Emperor's Secret Realm was, of course, Luo Wusheng.
After departing from the capital, he had taken the most secluded paths possible, using all sorts of anti-tracking techniques to ensure no one was following him. Then, after a round of disguise and teleportation, he arrived directly at Daybreak Mountain.
Of course, if a true high-level powerhouse had really wanted to track him, there would've been nothing he could do.
But such powerhouses had many easier methods of uncovering someone's secrets than playing stalker.
Upon reaching the mountain, Luo Wusheng hid himself in a deserted area and groomed his appearance, ready to make a good impression for his long-awaited reunion with his beloved.
But what greeted him inside the Secret Realm... far exceeded his expectations.
What in the world was going on?
If not for seeing his wife hanging upside down, Luo Wusheng would've thought he'd walked into the wrong place.
(As expected of my wife… even upside down, she's still this beautiful...)
Wait no—what the hell happened here?
Did the Sword Emperor's Secret Realm unlock a new map?
Luo Wusheng instinctively reached out to communicate with the black broken sword in his dantian.
But before he could get a response, his instincts flared—his heart skipped a beat.
Just as Ling Shuangxue's voice reached him, he immediately entered high alert and tilted his head to the side.
A razor-sharp sword aura grazed past his ear.
His gaze snapped to the direction the sword aura came from.
There, a roughly humanoid earthen puppet stood holding a black stone longsword, its featureless face turned directly toward him.
Its aura was rapidly increasing—and had already vaguely reached the Nascent Soul level.
Luo Wusheng raised an eyebrow.
"An enemy unit? When did it get here?"
Hmm… it's fine. He could handle it.
A mere early-stage Nascent Soul—he no longer considered that level a threat.
He didn't even need to use a trump card. He could take care of it effortlessly.
Thinking this, he stepped forward.
Then... promptly stepped back.
Because now, he realized how that earthen puppet had appeared.
Looking around, he saw the ground beneath each of the black stone swords outside the altar begin to swell and shift, forming more humanoid figures. Their auras were rapidly rising.
Even with a rough glance at his level, Luo Wusheng immediately estimated their number.
One hundred and eight...
One hundred and eight Nascent Souls?!
