The words snapped her head up. A young man with messy hair, traveling cloak slung over one shoulder, had frozen mid-step as he stared at her. His mouth hung open, his eyes wide.
Blazar's brows furrowed. "…Excuse me?"
He pointed directly at her, almost shaking. "You—you're Orion. Orion Spade. Vesper's boyfriend!"
Her blood ran cold.
She opened her mouth to deny it, but her throat betrayed her. Only air came out.
The stranger rushed closer, voice dropping but brimming with excitement. "I knew it! I saw you in a photo! You're his boyfriend, aren't you?"
Her chest tightened. She wanted to scream no, shove him away, vanish into nothing. Instead she forced a laugh—light, shaky, nothing like her. "I think you've mistaken me."
But his grin widened, almost triumphant. "Don't even try to hide it. You are Orion. Everyone's been whispering about you since that day you came to the school. I never thought I'd actually see you here."
