Chapter 483 – A Grandfather and a Grandson, and Life's Greatest Lesson [END]
Kaden had witnessed many deaths. Some brutal, worthy of nightmares. Some gentle, almost merciful in nature.
But never anything like this.
This was different from everything. Because Kaden felt like he was watching someone being unmade. A strange feeling, one he could only sense through the right hand of Raven held within his own.
His grandfather's hand had become so small it disappeared completely inside Kaden's, looking not like the hand of an old man but a child.
Not only his hand. His whole body had shrunk further. His skin had begun to rot, a putrid smell rising from it, his lips scarred and leathered.
He lay on the bed like a dead man, yet his chest still moved — imperceptibly, but it moved.
On the fifth day, Kaden noticed as he sat there that his grandfather could barely speak without long pauses. His throat was dry and sore, and no amount of water could soothe it. The old man was utterly spent.
