Garos sat at the top of a mountain hill made entirely of glass — translucent, coursing with blue veins like thousands of restless snakes moving endlessly up and down.
His massive, muscled frame against that backdrop was a sight to behold. He looked like one of the Kings of Old taking his rest in a peaceful abode…if one decided to judge purely on appearances.
The grief of his father's death hadn't disappeared. Not yet.
His chest still burned, as if something had cracked it open and dropped a fist of molten lava inside at the loss of his father.
The anguish was real, and one could see it in the sudden darkness that had settled over his red eyes like a hood.
But by now, the Warborn Patriarch had calmed considerably, entering a new phase of grief: Acceptance.
He sighed, releasing a thick plume of steam, and cast his eyes around him, wondering briefly where in hell Space had brought him.
