Hero Association Online Part 10

The blade of the halberd sliced through the air once again.

This time much faster.

Corvus Glaive no longer wore the same look of disdain he'd had at the beginning. His breathing had grown heavier, and his armor was covered in cuts, cracks, and blood.

But he was still fighting.

Still standing.

And, to the surprise of anyone watching, he was even managing to keep up with Owen for several exchanges.

"Clang!"

The two black daggers slammed against the shaft of the halberd, carefully avoiding its blade.

Corvus shoved with all his strength, trying to force Owen backward.

Owen barely moved one wrist.

The alien's strength was effortlessly redirected to the side, throwing his attack off balance at the same time.

Owen's knee was already driving upward toward Corvus's abdomen in an explosion of crimson energy.

At the same time, Owen moved both daggers, burying them into Thanos's son's shoulders and sending him flying.

Owen grabbed the metallic cables attached to the hilts of his daggers, and his kinetic energy raced through them, growing more and more violent with every inch it traveled until it reached Corvus.

Then Owen yanked hard, instantly smashing him into the ground with all his strength.

"BOOOOM!"

A massive explosion echoed across the island, shaking it violently, while the daggers snapped back into Owen's hands with a slight tug on the cables, now covered in the blood of Thanos's son.

Who lay at the bottom of the crater created by the impact.

Corvus lay there coughing up blood, his internal injuries severe enough to have killed anyone else.

Yet even in that state, he stood up again.

His chest began regenerating once more.

Owen calmly walked toward him.

He didn't even seem winded.

"You're really like a cockroach. Doesn't matter if someone rips your head off, you'll keep moving. At some point it starts getting pretty disgusting," Owen said while watching Corvus's body visibly begin healing again.

Corvus raised his halberd once more.

His eyes made it clear that, to him, this battle wasn't over, even if Owen had been giving him an almost completely one-sided beating.

Though the truth was that the longer Corvus fought, the longer he managed to keep up with the Soldier.

The problem was that Owen was also improving with every passing second of the fight.

Corvus didn't answer.

He could clearly feel the difference between the two of them.

A gap that kept growing wider and wider.

And the pride he carried as one of the Mad Titan's children and a member of the Black Order couldn't help but begin to crack.

Eventually, the blade of his halberd wasn't even coming close to Owen anymore.

Even so, Corvus couldn't surrender.

He gripped the halberd with both hands and spun it forcefully, settling back into his combat stance.

"Aaah..." Owen sighed. "You're starting to make me feel like I'm the bad guy here. Fine, let's just finish this already," Owen said calmly.

"Do you really think you have what it takes? To kill an immortal?" Corvus asked with a mocking grin.

"Yeah. Why not? You're not immortal. It's that weapon, isn't it?" Owen said with complete calm as he pointed at the halberd.

Corvus's smile slowly disappeared as he heard Owen's words.

He even looked surprised.

And now... afraid.

But that tiny pause was enough.

Owen smiled faintly.

"Thanks for confirming it," Owen said with a slight smile.

Corvus's gaze hardened.

Even after Owen had discovered his weakness, Corvus showed no fear.

Or rather...

He simply accepted it.

And at no point did the halberd in his hands tremble, not even slightly.

Before Owen could launch his next attack, he suddenly seemed to hear something through his communicator.

"What?" Owen said, his expression turning much more serious.

And with every passing second he listened, his face grew even colder.

"How many?" he asked before receiving the answer that only he seemed able to hear.

"Good. If you can, deal with it. If not, just buy us some time," Owen ordered, his gaze becoming even more dangerous as he looked toward Corvus.

Seeing Owen's expression, Corvus couldn't help curling his lips into a mocking smile.

"They're close, aren't they?" he said excitedly.

But the instant Owen saw that smile, his body, already wrapped in his repulsion energy, vanished in a crimson flash.

At a speed even Corvus couldn't fully follow.

He could only turn his head in an attempt to track him.

But by the time he did, one of Owen's daggers had already pierced through his neck.

At the same time, the golden cables attached to its hilt wrapped around Corvus's body, tightening around him while the wires sliced through his flesh, causing blood to pour from countless cuts.

Owen simply kicked the halberd that had fallen onto the ground.

It flew into his hand.

And without the slightest hesitation, he drove it straight through Corvus's chest.

As soon as the attack was complete, Owen couldn't help but smile.

Not with fear, as Corvus had expected.

"Looks like the signal you sent a moment ago made it through safely. That means I don't need you anymore," Owen said with a predatory smile that made Corvus widen his eyes more than ever before.

"What do you...?"

Corvus never got to finish the question.

Owen's crimson energy surged through Corvus's own halberd, still embedded in his chest.

And his body suddenly exploded into thousands of pieces.

Owen casually rolled his neck as if stretching it.

Then he turned toward the other heroes nearby.

He threw the halberd toward them.

"Take it to the lab. Destroy it before that lump of meat regenerates," Owen said in a serious tone.

"Oh, and get ready for war," he added.

"Wanda, we're done fooling them," Owen calmly said to his wife, who was still fighting Proxima Midnight to the death.

Wanda, of course, shot her husband an annoyed look.
