The ocean never shut up.
Even when it looked calm. Even when the surface lay flat and clean like someone had polished it. The deep still moved. Currents shifting. Pressure building. Creatures hunting where light never reached.
Poseidon knew that better than anyone.
Which was why he didn't trust the stillness.
He stood at the edge of a fracture in Heaven. Not at the center anymore. Not where Zeus was. Not where the others gathered, argued, worked, pretended things could be fixed if they just moved fast enough.
Poseidon stepped away from that.
He needed space. Needed distance. Needed something that wasn't all of that.
The fracture beneath him shimmered. White at the edges. Dark at the center. Not empty. Never empty. Water bled through it. Not falling. Not pouring. Just existing there. A thin sheet at first. Then more. Then enough to gather.
Poseidon exhaled slowly. "There you are."
