A deafening, earth-shattering explosion resonated from the deepest forest, causing the entire dimension to violently shudder.
Perran stopped dead in his tracks, his boots skidding over the cracked, lifeless soil. He moved his sharp, scanning gaze all over the rotting forest, trying to locate the source of the sudden seismic shift; then his eyes locked and stared at the massive, unnatural huge rock towering directly before them.
"What is this?" He asked himself, his voice tight as his instincts flared, sensing the chaotic distortion of the surrounding laws.
Ellen moved her eyes around their immediate surroundings, her vision piercing through the gloom as she stared at the dark shadows lurking all over the place. The magic-immune entities were closing in from every angle, their forms shifting like liquid obsidian. She took a deep, steadying breath, and exhaled slowly to compose her thoughts, then lightly tapped Perran's broad chest.
