"So," Eden began after they'd settled back on the edge of the building. Her short silver hair caught the wind, brushing against her cheeks as she turned to Kiah. "How did it go?"
Kiah's tone was even, steady.
"I'm sure you've heard about what happened in Fallowmere Hold."
Eden looked away, her gaze tracing the skyline.
"You're right. I have. The news has spread all over the base, but I didn't pay much attention to it. I didn't realize that you were part of that mission. Judging from your bandaged head, though, I'm guessing it wasn't easy."
Kiah let out a small chuckle.
"It wasn't that bad. I just cracked my skull open after headbutting an armored wretch. No big deal."
Eden's lips curved faintly, though her eyes stayed serious.
"Aren't you unfortunate? Even I haven't come across a wretch yet. How did you manage to run into one on your 'first' mission?"
