Kiah's eyes sharpened as he mentioned the name of the houses, but she didn't interrupt.
"—I know that because Duskworn used to be part of their territory before the Fall. My mother told me that. Only the minor nobles didn't make the cut."
"So you believe those houses created degenerates and unleashed them on us… while they hid inside the Wall?"
"Precisely."
Kiah frowned. Just what would the nobles get from doing that? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Many of the nobles in Veloria had family members left behind. Would they really unleash terror on their relatives?
It was possible but far-fetched.
As convenient as it was to blame their misfortune on the nobles and the Overseer, Kiah couldn't help but think that they were not behind this. It was just pointless.
Kiah sat up straight, clearing her throat. She glanced at Jacob, still trying to sound indifferent. She diverted the subject a bit.
"You know about the noble houses?"
