At this moment, Weiwan grew more alarmed with each passing exchange.
Weiwan hailed from the Rukongai. Thanks to his considerable strength, he had been selected as a guard of the Seireitei's Eastern Gate, tasked with repelling any intruders or souls attempting to enter the Seireitei.
Having stood watch at this gate for centuries, his power, while not extraordinary, was far from weak. He had assumed that his abilities would be more than enough to easily dispatch these suspicious figures approaching the Seireitei Gate. To his surprise, their strength far exceeded his expectations.
Confusion gnawed at him.
What baffled him most was that, despite sensing no spiritual pressure from them, they could unleash all manner of ancient and powerful attacks. Who in the world were these people?
If earlier Weiwan had attacked Lin Xuan and his group simply because he was the Eastern Gate's guardian and bored out of his mind, seeking a bit of excitement, now he was genuinely on high alert. He realized these individuals were anything but ordinary.
Just as his focus wavered for a moment, Uchiha Itachi seized the opportunity. He lunged forward, appearing directly before Weiwan, and expelled a torrent of flame from his mouth. It surged like a tidal wave, roaring toward him.
Weiwan's expression shifted. He swiftly raised his axe and slammed it into the ground.
" Boom! "
In an instant, a wall of earth erupted from the ground, blocking his path. The flames crashed against it, exploding violently and sending a wave of scorching heat billowing in all directions.
Despite his massive frame, Weiwan's reflexes were anything but slow.
As the wall absorbed the brunt of the flame's impact, he channeled his immense strength into his axe and swung it forward with a brutal chop.
" Boom! "
The axe cleaved through the wall, slicing downward across Uchiha Itachi's shoulder and splitting his body cleanly in two.
A smug grin spread across Weiwan's face.
But before the smile could fully form, it froze.
He watched in disbelief as the severed halves of his opponent dissolved into a swarm of crows, scattering in every direction.
" What?! How is that possible... an illusion?
"
Weiwan's face twisted in shock. He quickly went on guard, his eyes darting around the area.
Finally, he located Uchiha Itachi standing behind him.
" Amaterasu. "
At that moment, Uchiha Madara's crimson eyes spun rapidly as his Mangekyō activated. A jet-black flame erupted onto Weiwan's clothing, beginning to consume him.
" Ah! What the hell is this?!
"
Weiwan's expression contorted in terror as he stared at the black fire eating away at him. He let out a panicked scream.
What horrified him even more was that these black flames could not be extinguished. He tried desperately to put them out, but they continued to erode his very soul, and nothing he did had any effect.
Weiwan could feel his soul growing increasingly ethereal under the relentless assault of the black fire.
At that moment, true panic set in.
He even began to regret ever attacking these people in the first place.
In reality, Weiwan's body was not actually burning. He had fallen victim to Uchiha Itachi's genjutsu during their earlier clash, trapping him in an intense mental battle.
If Uchiha Itachi had wanted him dead, it would have been effortless.
But Itachi chose not to. He felt that killing an opponent already ensnared in an illusion would be a hollow victory.
Moments later, Weiwan finally snapped back to reality.
Though his consciousness had returned, he was drenched in sweat, utterly exhausted, and could barely even stand.
Eventually, he collapsed to the ground, powerless.
Now, Weiwan's face was etched with lingering fear. When he looked at Uchiha Itachi again, there was a newfound respect in his eyes.
He understood clearly: he had lost this battle.
If Uchiha Itachi had not shown mercy, he would not be alive right now.
Weiwan did not dwell on the defeat. Instead, he smiled and said, " Since you've defeated me, you have the right to enter the Seireitei!
"
This was the rule of the Seireitei. For a soul from the Rukongai to pass through the Seireitei Gate, they had to defeat the gatekeeper. Now that Uchiha Itachi had proven stronger than Weiwan and bested him in combat, it meant they were qualified to enter the Seireitei.
With that, Weiwan stepped aside from the gate. He opened the Seireitei Gate, no longer blocking their path, and cleared a way for Uchiha Itachi and the others.
Just as Lin Xuan was about to lead the group through the Eastern Gate, a figure emerged from within the Seireitei. The man fixed his gaze on Weiwan and said with a sly grin, " Who allowed you to let them in?
"
Weiwan quickly turned toward the voice and soon recognized the newcomer.
The man had light purple hair and a perpetual smile on his face, but that smile carried an unmistakable air of danger.
It was none other than the captain of the Third Division, Gin Ichimaru!
Weiwan's expression shifted. He had not expected Gin Ichimaru to appear at this moment, and from his tone, it was clear he was displeased with Weiwan's decision.
