In the lunch hall, Mel munched on jelly. Her tray? It had only a glass filled with jelly.
Sweet things were good because they reminded her of the sweetness she had lost.
"Mel?"
Lila's voice beside her was restrained. Her own plate had a salad and a steak.
The Witch of Envy insisted on starving herself, too, but Mel stopped her. She couldn't bring her first wife into her venting streak.
"I know…" Mel turned to the opposite seat, as hollow as her defeated voice.
She didn't know Rosana's lack of presence would hurt this much. At this point, it would be her who would be trapped first!
"As expected," the witch of lust snapped at Lila. "I've to dote on you a lot tonight to make it up, Lila!"
"No no no, why does it-" Lila's face flushed. Then, she briefly settled on, then clutched her chin with a serious, pondering look. "Actually… maybe I can take it? I'll be too tired to study tomorrow, but…"
"Hm?" Mel tilted her head. "Something the matter?"
