As Kakashi saw the red liquid flowing into Malekith's body, he knew that if he did not stop it, it would end badly for everyone.
The sight filled him with urgency. The Aether, the Reality Stone, was merging with the Dark Elf king right in front of him.
Kakashi understood how dangerous an Infinity Stone could be in the wrong hands. Without wasting another second, he immediately tried to pierce Malekith with a kunai. He lunged forward, aiming for a vital spot.
But the Aether put up a shield around Malekith. The kunai started turning into dust as it came in contact with the barrier. Small particles floated away like dry sand in the wind.
Before Kakashi's hand could be affected, he backed away but he did not give up.
He quickly weaved hand signs.
"Fire Style: Karyū Endan."
He blew a very hot stream of flames almost white from his mouth, the strongest fire style jutsu he could use at Malekith. The surrounding walls and tiles started melting by just the sheer heat.
The intense fire lit up the entire floor with bright orange and white light. The air itself became hard to breathe from the temperature.
But as the flames got in contact with the Aether, to no logic that Kakashi could comprehend, the flames started turning to dust. The powerful fire simply crumbled away into nothing before it could reach Malekith. Kakashi watched in surprise as his strongest fire jutsu failed completely.
Finally all the red liquid had flown into Malekith. The last drops disappeared into his body and the shield around him grew even stronger.
Malekith rose as several dark red tendrils of energy formed around him. Whatever they touched turned to dust. Pieces of the floor, broken furniture, and even parts of the wall crumbled away into fine powder wherever the tendrils passed.
"I am surprised that you managed to beat Kurse but he has served his purpose. I finally have Aether. Now I can make the reality as I want," Malekith said almost nonchalantly. His voice carried calm confidence, as if the battle was already won in his mind.
The tendrils were then aimed at Kakashi and came at him rapidly. Kakashi used his Sharingan to analyse their movements in slow motion to dodge them.
His eye spun quickly, predicting the paths of the dangerous red energy whips. He moved with perfect timing, twisting his body to avoid each strike. Kakashi's Sharingan turned to Mangekyou as he looked Malekith directly in the eye. Malekith did not hesitate to meet his eyes.
'Tsukuyomi,' Kakashi used Tsukuyomi but as soon as the genjutsu took hold it was broken. The powerful illusion shattered instantly like glass under pressure.
'The Infinity Stone is interfering with his natural chakra flow and thus he cannot be affected by genjutsu,' Kakashi thought.
More tendrils formed from Malekith's body and it became almost impossible for Kakashi to dodge them in a cramped floor.
The red energy filled the space around them, leaving very little room to move safely. He decided to use Kamui to just phase through them. His body became intangible as he rushed towards Malekith with lightning chirping in his hands. The Chidori crackled loudly, ready to strike.
But before Kakashi could reach him, he stopped as he mumbled, "What the..." The tendrils seemed to have hit him as his body slowly started turning to dust despite his body still being in the Kamui dimension.
Small particles began breaking away from his legs and moving upwards. Malekith said, "I have the power to break reality itself at my hands. You can't escape the power of Aether mortal." His voice echoed with satisfaction as he watched Kakashi struggle.
The other Avengers converged on his position. They had finished their own fights and rushed to the upper floors after hearing the commotion.
They all looked in horror as Kakashi's body was turning to dust from the bottom and slowly climbing up to the top.
Natasha and Clint ran towards him followed by Creel shouting "Kakashi!" and "Boss!" Their voices were filled with panic and pain.
Natasha reached him first. Her eyes widened with fear as she saw parts of his body disappearing into dust. "Kakashi, no! Hold on! We are here. Fight whatever it is!" she shouted.
Tears filled her eyes as she tried to reach out but stopped herself, afraid to make it worse. She had seen many terrible things in her life, but watching someone she cared about fade away like this broke something inside her.
"You cannot leave us like this. Not after everything we have been through. Please, Kakashi. Stay with us." Her voice cracked with emotion. She had grown to respect and trust him deeply, and the thought of losing him hurt more than she expected.
Clint stood beside her, his face pale. "Kakashi, come on! You are the strongest guy I know. Do not do this to us." Tears rolled down his cheeks as he gripped his bow tightly. "We still need you. The team needs you. Those kids downstairs need you ." Clint's voice was full of desperation. He remembered all the missions they had shared and how Kakashi had always been there. Seeing him fade away felt unreal and deeply painful.
Creel pushed forward with tears streaming down his large face. "Boss! No! You saved me. You gave me a purpose. Do not go! I still need to learn from you." His voice was thick with emotion as he dropped to one knee near the fading figure. Tears fell from his eyes onto the floor. "
Natasha reached out carefully, her hand trembling. "Kakashi, listen to me. You have survived worse. Remember the other universe? We made it through together. Come back to us."
Clint placed a hand on her shoulder for support while fighting his own tears. Creel kept repeating "Boss" quietly, his voice breaking with each word. The rest of the team watched in stunned silence, their hearts heavy with the same fear of losing their leader.
As half of Kakashi's body turned to dust, a storage scroll of his fell and smoke popped up from it. And then a small red stone started floating.
Kakashi whose only head remained recognised it. It was one of the artifacts that he had received after helping Kamar Taj and Ancient One in various missions.
'The Izanagi Stone.' The Izanagi stone reacted to the reality energy that was being poured into Kakashi and turning him to dust.
It also started turning into dust but it was red dust that started flying to Kakashi's Sharingan which still remained before entirety of Kakashi turned into dust.
