Kuri stood near the mouth of the alley and watched Ameth's back until she disappeared down the street.
Kuri let out a long breath and finally turned around to see what Lor was doing.
He was right behind her.
She jumped hard. Her shoulders jerked up and her back hit the cold stone wall of the tavern.
"Did you like what you saw?" Lor asked. His voice was calm. He stood close enough that she could feel the heat coming off him.
Kuri glared at him. Her face was still red from earlier.
"You're a pervert," she said. "I was just looking out for Ameth. Someone has to."
Lor tilted his head a little.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure." Kuri looked away from him, staring at the empty street. "You're a big pervert and a liar. Ameth is my friend and I can't leave her alone with a dangerous guy rat you. That's why I stayed."
