"Nan, what are you doing here?"
Xu Dapeng saw Zhao Tienan carrying his luggage and immediately asked in surprise.
"No choice, I'm down and out. They fired me. I got kicked out of the clinic, got no place to stay, hoping to crash at your place for a while."
"I see your house is pretty big. If it's convenient, rent me a room. Whatever the rent is, I'll pay it."
Zhao Tienan didn't waste words and got straight to the point.
"What?"
"Nan, did I hear you right? Who would dare to fire you?"
"In Fengshan Village, you're the only doctor. The villagers depend on you for their lives. If you get fired, what are we supposed to do?"
Xu Dapeng suddenly widened his eyes and asked angrily.
"I don't know. It's what the higher-ups decided. What can I do?"
"You just let me know if you'll take me in. I'm not asking to stay for free!"
Zhao Tienan shrugged and said with a bitter smile.
"I do have an empty room at home. You can stay as long as you want. Talking about money is out of line."
