In fact, if the Ancient Empire had developed normally, it wouldn't necessarily have evolved into a Mecha Civilization. Not every civilization with large mechanical bodies inevitably evolves into a Mecha Civilization, especially those Mechanical Civilizations of the Martial Arts Faction.
