Three days after the nightmare, the egg began to move.
Nox was in the middle of morning training with Elisa, dodging a particularly vicious combination of strikes, when he felt it. A pulse of energy from his inventory, sharp and insistent, like something knocking on a door from the inside.
He stumbled, distracted, and Elisa's practice sword found his ribs with painful accuracy.
"Focus," she snapped. "The battlefield doesn't care about your internal distractions."
"Something's happening." He held up a hand, calling a halt. The pulse came again, stronger this time, and he could feel heat building in the spatial pocket where he stored his items. "The egg. It's doing something."
Elisa's annoyance shifted to concern. "The Divine Egg? The one Vexia has been monitoring?"
"That's the one." Another pulse, and this time Nox could feel the egg's energy reaching out toward his corruption like two magnets drawn together. "I think it wants out."
