The rear car climbed a rail that had no support beneath it, lifting Kendra's boarding team toward a ceiling lined with old signal lamps. She kept one hand locked around the roof rail while the other pointed the new drivers toward the next coupling.
"First hatch, then the brakes," she said through the channel. "If the car lurches, you hold each other before you hold the cargo."
The train answered with a sharp turn that threw the far driver against a vent housing. Sella caught his harness before his feet left the roof, then dragged him back while the rest of the vanguard braced in a staggered line.
Kendra saw the fear in their faces and did not insult them by naming it. None of them had joined a freight rescue expecting the rails to turn vertical inside a sealed dungeon.
"You get one clean withdrawal call," she told them. "Say it early, and we find a way off. Say nothing, and I assume you can keep working."
