"So I assume many of you already know why we've been called here…"
The principal's voice echoed across the main hall, firm yet routine, the kind that usually faded into the background for most teachers. Arthur sat among them, back straight but mind already drifting, only half-listening as he absentmindedly tapped his fingers against his knee.
"The annual school field trip will be taking place next month…"
Arthur blinked.
Then his eyes widened slightly.
'Ah… the annual trip.'
A flicker of realization crossed his face, quick, almost unnoticeable, but sharp enough to jolt him out of his haze.
I forgot.
Not just a passing thought, he had truly forgotten.
Arthur, who had been counting down the months for it.
Arthur, who used to anticipate it more than half the students.
Arthur, who had once planned every small detail in his head long before any official announcement.
He had forgotten.
Forgotten that it was next month.
Forgotten that this meeting would obviously be about it.
