[Austin's POV]
I gnashed my teeth knowing that they might be wrong because Harry doesn't even want contact with Damien.
Rather than disagreeing with them, I focused my gaze on the tumbler.
"I know," I said harshly "I know Harry's not a saint. But think about it—if there's even a sliver of truth in that ledger, it could bring Damien down. He's got the pack bleeding, the council cowed, the younger wolves scared. We've been living under his nuisance for years." I petitioned as the thought of that only makes anger brew inside me that I can't contain.
Maya's eyes narrowed."And what if that ledger is a phantom? What if it's a trap, a way to get us all in one place so Damien can wipe us out? He's already got the numbers. He doesn't need a fancy piece of paper to crush us." She agitated like it was a debate with her eyes stern and unfazed.
Jac took a long drag of his cigarette and inhaled slowly.
