Conis and her father watched, their faces pale, their wings pressed flat against their backs. They looked like they were watching a volcano that could erupt at any moment.
Pagaya whispered to Conis, "I told you. It's better to just let it happen."
Conis nodded weakly. "I know."
Nami narrowed her eyes at Takuya, but there was no heat in it. Not really. "One day, I'm going to figure out how you do that."
He smiled. It was infuriating. It was also, she hated to admit, attractive. "I'm counting on it. Now let's focus on payback, so I can have my share of entertainment"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out three small capsules—like the ones from Dragon Ball, compact and smooth. He pressed them into her palm.
Nami looked down at them. "What's this?"
"Since the so-called god has a habit of attacking sinners with lightning strikes, and rubber protects against electricity—basic physics—we're going to sell these to them." He smirked. "One has extra large rubber condoms as hats.
Another has raincoats made of the same material. And the third has umbrellas made of condoms. I'm giving you the green signal. Scam the shit out of them. Make a mockery out of them. Have fun. Create total chaos."
Nami stared at the capsules. Then at him. Then back at the capsules.
Her face went red. "You want me to—to sell—" She lowered her voice to a furious whisper. "Condoms?!"
"Among other things." He paused, "Oh, that's a better idea." Then reached into his pocket and pulled out a fourth capsule. He handed it to her. "This one contains condoms. Extra large condoms. Show them how to wear them on their head."
Nami's jaw dropped. "Have you gone completely mad? I can't sell condoms! And how do you expect me to show them? Wear those condoms and demonstrate them?!"
"Why not?" He tilted his head, completely unfazed. "If that gets our condom sales up and we can scam the shit out of them? I don't see any issues in it. I've seen many men cross-dress, even wear female panties and bras just to sell them—and they did it very professionally.
Did you know there were some people so good at sales that they were able to sell the most intimate of things like they were selling basic beverages?
And mind you, they did it without shame. So why have so much shame when you're never going to meet them again? Plus, you're also going to scam them to the core."
"Because—" She sputtered. "Because they're—they're—you know what they are!"
"Yes, that's why I gave them to you."
Her face was now the color of a ripe tomato. "I've never—I don't—I can't even look at them without—"
"You don't have to tell them what they're made of. In fact, why even tell the victim you're selling them drugs if all you care about is to scam them and get rich?"
"That doesn't make it better! I'll know! I'll be standing there, selling coats made of condoms, and I'll know, and I won't be able to keep a straight face—"
Takuya tilted his head. "Nami."
"WHAT?"
"You've stolen millions from pirates. You've lied, cheated, and manipulated your way through half the Grand Line. You've faced down Warlords and survived, seduced pirates and scammed them while keeping your virginity intact.
And you're telling me you can't sell a few coats because they're made of condoms? If you're scared and embarrassed from this much, what are you going to do when we have a foursome?"
Nami blinked. "Foresome? What do you mean, foursome?"
He smirked. "Me, you, Vivi, and Robin. On my bed. Fucking like rabbits in heat. Not caring about anything in the world or anyone hearing. Does foursome have some other meaning other than sex?"
She opened her mouth. Closed it.
"That's not the same," she said weakly.
"It's exactly the same." His voice dropped, coaxing now. "But here's the thing—think about the fun you're going to have. Picture it. You walk up to a sky person, hold up this coat, and tell them it's the most advanced lightning-proof gear in the sky. It's flexible, it's durable, it's completely waterproof—it'll protect them from the god's lightning."
Nami blinked. "And?"
"And they'll use it. They'll wear it during storms, thinking they've got the best lightning-proof coat in existence. They'll show it off to their friends. They'll brag about it.
'Look at this amazing coat I bought from the Blue Sea dweller!'" He smirked. "And all the while, they'll be walking around in coats made of condoms. Completely clueless. Praising the product while wearing something that's meant for—"
"Okay, okay, I get it!" Nami's face was red, but she was fighting a smile.
"And the umbrellas? Same thing. They'll stand under them, thinking they've got premium sky gear. They'll tell their children about the day they bought an umbrella from the mysterious traveler. And every time they use it, they'll be holding a—"
"Stop!"
"I'm just saying. Think of the chaos. Think of the mockery. Every time it rains on this island, if it does that is, you'll know that someone is walking around under a condom umbrella, completely unaware."
He stepped closer, his voice softening. "Nami. That eight-year-old girl who had to grow up early because of Arlong—I'm giving her a chance to wreak havoc without worrying about anything or anyone. No consequences. No fear. Just chaos. Just fun."
Nami's expression shifted. Her eyes widened slightly. The smile she'd been fighting softened into something else. Something vulnerable.
She looked at him—really looked at him. And for a moment, she didn't see the man who had just handed her condoms and told her to scam an island. She saw someone who had been thinking about her, about the child she'd been forced to become, while she was busy being angry at him.
'He was thinking about me. While I was yelling at him. Trying to get revenge against him. All this time he was thinking about me.'
Her chest tightened. She felt a warmth spread through her, calm and steady. And when she looked at him, she could almost feel Belle-mère standing behind him—one hand on his shoulder, the other supporting her chin, smiling.
'Even when I'm angry. Even when I push him away. He's still thinking about me.'
She let out a breath. The tension in her shoulders melted completely. Her voice was softer now.
"That's... that's actually not evil," she said. "That's... something else."
"It's business," he said. "And everything is fair in business."
She stared at him. Then she let out a long, slow exhale—not of frustration, but of release. Of surrender to the chaos.
"Fine. I'll do it." She narrowed her eyes. "But if anyone asks, I'm not telling them where I got these."
"Wouldn't dream of it. And even if you did, do you think anyone would dare to do anything to you or me?"
"You're giving me permission to scam people," she said slowly, reaffirming it.
"Encouraging it, even."
She grinned. "I love you."
"No you don't."
"I really, really do right now."
"Save it for the surprise I'm going to give you."
She pocketed the capsules, her eyes already gleaming with mischief. "Fine. But if the surprise isn't worth it, I'm charging interest."
He leaned in, his voice dropping low. "Would the interest work if I satisfy you in bed?"
Nami's face went red again. "That's—you—I—"
"Just checking."
She opened her mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.
"I hate you," she muttered.
"Pretty sure you can't even manage that in your dreams," he said, his tone light and mocking.
She turned away, her cheeks burning, but she was smiling.
'I'll make him happy,' she thought quietly. 'I don't know how yet. But I will. He gave me back something I thought I'd lost forever. The least I can do is show him I'm not just taking.'
'Instead of fighting an individual battle, it's better to do it as a team. Vivi and I together. We can figure out what he needs and give it to him. Together.'
She made a mental note to talk to Vivi later. To form an alliance. To win him over—not as rivals, but as partners.
Her fingers brushed the capsules in her pocket.
'For now, I'll start with chaos. And then... we'll see.'
Vivi watched the exchange, her expression caught between amusement and curiosity. "What did he give you?"
Nami glanced at the sky people—Conis and her father, waiting nervously with their guests. Then back at Vivi.
"A license to steal," she said, her smile sharpening.
Vivi raised an eyebrow. "From the sky people?"
"From everyone." Nami's grin widened. "But especially from them."
Mira leaned in. "Can I watch?"
"You can help."
"Yes!"
Nami turned back to Takuya. He was already walking toward Upper Yard, Robin at his side. She watched him go, a strange warmth spreading through her chest.
"Hey," she called.
He glanced back.
"If I'm going to be your wife, the least you could do is give me a proper bye."
He raised an eyebrow. Then he walked back, cupped her face with one hand, and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Bye."
She blinked. "That's it?"
"That's it."
"You're insufferable."
"I know." He turned and walked away, Robin falling into step beside him.
Nami watched him go, her cheeks flushed, a smile tugging at her lips.
Vivi appeared beside her. "You're going to scam an entire island, aren't you?"
Nami's smile turned sharp. "Every single one of them."
"And the forehead kiss?"
Nami touched her forehead. Her flush deepened. "Shut up."
Mira grinned. "This is going to be fun."
Conis approached nervously, her wings twitching. "I—I'm ready to take you to the village. If you'll follow me—"
Nami turned to her, her face shifting into something sweet and disarming. "Of course, Conis. Lead the way."
Conis blinked, thrown by the sudden change in tone. "O-okay."
As they walked, Mira leaned in, her voice barely a whisper. "You're going to bleed them dry, aren't you?"
Nami's smile didn't waver. "Absolutely."
Vivi shook her head, but she was smiling. "You're quite pumped all of a sudden."
"Always am when I'm allowed to do whatever I want."
Mira giggled. "I can't wait to see what you do."
Nami patted the capsules in her pocket. "Neither can they."
Behind them, Robin stepped up beside Takuya, her voice low. "She's going to figure you out eventually."
"Probably."
"And then what?"
His smile was slow, deliberate. "Then I'll have to come up with new ways to keep her guessing."
Robin laughed softly. "You always do this."
"Do what?"
"Keep everyone off balance. It's your favorite pastime."
"Guilty as charged."
She linked her arm through his. "That's why I love you."
Takuya glanced down at her, his expression unreadable. Then his lips curved. "Darling," he said, his voice quiet, almost amused, "you really think I don't know you don't love me for that?"
Robin's steps faltered. Just slightly. Her arm tightened around his.
"What do you mean?"
He didn't answer right away. He kept walking, unhurried.
"You think I don't know what you really love me for? It's not the mystery. It's not the surprises. It's not even the way I keep you guessing."
Robin was silent.
"It's the safety," he continued. "The certainty. The knowledge that no matter what happens, I'll be there. That I won't leave. That I won't betray you. You've spent your whole life running from people who would hurt you. I'm the first person who made you feel like you could stop running and finally have a place you can call home."
Robin's breath caught. She stopped walking.
"And you're right," she said quietly. "That's exactly why I love you."
He stopped too, turning to face her. "I know. That's why I said 'I know.'"
She stared at him. Then she laughed—a soft, surprised sound. "You always do that."
"Do what?"
"See through me before I even finish thinking."
He reached up and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "That's what happens when you're mine. I pay attention."
Robin's expression softened. "And what about Nami? When will you tell her you love her?"
"When it's time."
"When is that?"
He smiled. "When she stops running. When she realizes she doesn't need to."
Robin tilted her head. "You're giving her time."
"She needs it. Not everyone's able to change as fast as you."
Robin's eyebrow rose. "You literally left me with no choice but to marry you and trust you, or die without the answers I wanted about my past. About Ohara. About the books. About Saul. What did you expect me to do?"
"Do you regret it?"
She considered for a moment. "Not at all. If anything, I think if I hadn't taken that leap of faith, I probably would be dead in some dumpster or pool of sand, rotting." She paused, her voice softening. "I got a second chance at life. And although I was skeptical at first, I was truly able to live my life knowing full well that you were protecting me. I could actually live freely without a single bit of worry." She smiled—small, genuine. "I still don't have answers to everything. And I've accepted that those answers will come in time—or they won't. Either way, I've made my peace with it."
She looked down, then back up at him. "There's still fear, though. Especially with the powers you have and how you use them for your amusement. One day, I could be the one caught in your games." She met his eyes. "But even then, ever since I've been with you, you've made me feel protected. I've felt free. Like all I need to do is stay loyal, give myself to you, and in return I'll be protected for the rest of my life." She paused. "The thing that makes me fear you is also the same thing that gives me certainty that you are strong enough to protect me from everything in this world."
She fell silent, her expression thoughtful.
Then her eyes narrowed. "Wait."
Takuya's expression didn't shift. "What?"
"What did you do?"
His face remained unreadable. "What do you mean?"
She stepped back, studying him. "You definitely did something. At first, I thought it was just Nami being Nami—with her emotional outbursts, her inability to come out of her tsundere phase, her first relationship after a lifetime of drought. That's why all that corny drama that nami did happened ever since we came to Skypiea." She crossed her arms. "But now I'm revealing all these things to you. You didn't even ask. I didn't need to answer. Yet I was telling you everything like I'd been given some truth serum or something."
Her eyes narrowed further. "It made me reveal more than needed. I got corny too. Completely broke out of my character." She tilted her head. "What did you do?"
If my story made you smile even once, that's a win for me. That's what I want to live for—brightening dull days and reminding people that joy still exists. My dream is to keep getting better, to someday become the best storyteller in the world.
