Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A Brother's Belief

Elena sat curled in the hollow of a tree, her eyes still red from the tears. The sting of her brother's voice calling her name echoed in her head.

> "Elena! Elena is over there!"

She covered her mouth, trying not to cry again.

> "He saw me... my little brother actually saw me..."

For a brief second, her heart—what little life remained in it felt warm.

But the warmth quickly turned to horror.

> "What if he told Mom and Dad? What if they come looking? What if I lose control again?"

But something worse had already happened.

Back at the House

Her younger brother had run to their mother, excitement bright in his voice.

> "Mom! Elena! She's outside, I saw her! She was in the backyard!"

His mother stared at him, her eyes bloodshot from days of crying.

His father, sitting nearby, gave him a cold glance.

> "Don't joke about your sister like that," his mother whispered.

> "But I saw her!" he shouted, tugging at her arm.

> "I SAID STOP IT!" she yelled, and in a moment of heartbreak, she slapped him.

He fell back, shocked—more hurt by her pain than by the sting on his cheek.

Silence.

Only the soft hum of the ceiling fan and the fading sun filled the house with emptiness.

At the Forest's Edge

Elena watched from behind the trees.

She saw her brother backing away, holding his cheek.

Her own tears fell freely now.

She wanted to run to him. Hug him. Tell him he wasn't wrong.

Tell him she was here.

But her thirst still lingered.

The sun still weakened her.

Her control was too fragile.

She turned away again, her heart cracking like glass.

> "I'm not ready to go back... not like this."

She wandered deeper into the woods, uncertain of where to go—only knowing she couldn't return.

Not until she could trust herself.

Not until she could prove she was still human… somewhere deep inside.

Meanwhile, in Antarctica...

Thousands of kilometers away, a different story was unfolding.

Deep beneath the ice sheets of Antarctica, the relentless summer heat and Global warming had accelerated the melt.

In an isolated research station, a group of scientists huddled around a lab bench.

They stared at a slide under the microscope, frozen by what they saw.

> "These... these are viral structures," one of them whispered.

"But they're like nothing in any database."

Another scientist stepped back from the glass container holding a sealed ice core sample.

> "These were trapped in ice for tens of thousands of years… untouched, unmutated. Idk what is these things"

The youngest of the group stepped forward.

He adjusted his glasses, staring into the petri dish.

> "This isn't just ancient… this could be extinction-grade."

Outside the station, the glacier let out a low groan. A sheet of ice cracked, then collapsed, revealing even more beneath.

Unseen, a new age was waking.

And with it, the virus that are capable of change the whole world or Make the human extinct from Earth.
