Chapter 1014 – Humble
Lux crossed his arms, robe shifting slightly. He was suddenly very aware he had come to receive an Envy heiress candidate in nightwear like some irresponsible incubus prince in a cheap romance pamphlet.
Which was unfair.
He was expensive.
"Why did you come here?" he asked.
Cyrinne's gaze flickered toward the mansion, then back to him. "Did Gula tell you already?"
"She told me enough to make me concerned about her definition of invitation etiquette."
Cyrinne chuckled. "That sounds like Gula."
"She said you wanted to pay your debt."
"I do." Her playful edge faded, revealing something colder beneath. "Your time is limited, Prince Lux."
Lux's smile remained.
His eyes did not.
"The rest," Cyrinne continued, "I need a place to talk."
She glanced sideways, toward the road beyond the gate.
"Secretly."
Lux followed her gaze.
The road looked empty.
Which meant nothing.
