We were in the middle of an 11v11 training match, twenty-three minutes in, and I was watching something special unfold. The 'B' team had the ball, trying to play out from the back.
For twenty minutes, the 'A' team had been a whirlwind of coordinated chaos, pressing with an intensity and intelligence that we had only seen in fleeting glimpses before.
The system was tracking everything from pressing triggers identified, successful turnovers, transition speed, and the numbers were climbing with every passing minute.
I'd set specific conditions for the session: the 'B' team had to complete ten passes before they could shoot, forcing them to build from the back. The 'A' team had to win the ball in the opposition half to score. It was designed to create the exact scenarios we'd been training for all month. And it was working.
Then, the trigger. The 'B' team's center-back received the ball under pressure, took a heavy touch, and played a slightly loose pass to his fullback.
