"Here should be a good spot," Aurora muttered, glancing over her shoulder at Elian when they got to their destination.
The palace's western garden.
Elian stepped in slowly, taking in a deep breath. Birds chirped and sunlight filtered past leaves from high trees. The pond at the end was pristine as ever, twinkling as if stars got caught in it.
Seraphyne stood close to Aurora, guiding her toward the bench. But the princess shook her head, silver eyes fixed on Elian. "You said you wanted to talk. This is a good spot." Her tone was almost flat.
Almost.
Deep down it was tinged with something heavy. Guilt perhaps?
Clasping his hands together, Elian took a few steps closer. "Aurora, we can't deny the tension between us since you got out of Amara's clutches," he paused for a beat, noticing her expression shift. "Which I honestly get. You saw things that... Shook you. Found out about—"
