Dark Magician returned from the Graveyard once more.
His black wizard robes fluttered in the wind. Folding his arms, Dark Magician gazed at Jaden Yuki with a cold and solemn expression.
[Dark Magician]
[Level: 7]
[Spellcaster-Type]
[ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2100]
"It looks like your attack is over, Supreme King," Dark Magician Girl said with a smile. "All three monsters on your field have already attacked. It's a pity, but I managed to narrowly defend through this turn."
Furthermore, during the next turn, she could use her master to defeat the Supreme King!
Dark Magician Girl exchanged a look with Dark Magician. He gave an imperceptible nod and lifted a finger. A surge of dark magic immediately covered Dark Magician Girl's Duel Disk.
The next card is the one Master prepared for me: Bond Between Teacher and Student.
Dark Magician Girl fixed her gaze on the top of her Deck.
[Bond Between Teacher and Student]
If you control 'Dark Magician': Special Summon 1 'Dark Magician Girl' from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. Then, you can Set 1 'Dark Magic Attack', 'Dark Burning Attack', 'Dark Burning Magic', or 'Dark Magic Twin Burst' directly from your Deck.
As long as she chose Dark Magic Twin Burst, Dark Magician's attack power would increase by the combined ATK of all Dark Magician Girls on the field and in the Graveyard.
What the Supreme King didn't know was that there were a total of two copies of Dark Magician Girl in her Deck. A sly smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
When the time came, there would be two of "her" between the field and the Graveyard. Her master's attack power would soar to 6500 points!
Because Jaden had used A Hero Lives, his Life Points were down to a mere 2000. Moreover, Elemental HERO Sunrise's destruction effect could not be activated during its own battle.
A 6500 ATK Dark Magician attacking a 3100 ATK Sunrise... the 3400-point difference in damage would be enough to wipe him out entirely!
"To lower your Life Points that much just to test my face-down cards... even the Supreme King makes miscalculations sometimes," Dark Magician Girl murmured under her breath. She placed her finger on the top of her Deck. "So, is it my turn now, Supreme King?"
"Don't be in such a hurry. My Battle Phase isn't over yet."
Jaden raised a finger, stopping Dark Magician Girl's attempt to end the current phase prematurely.
"Eh? But all your monsters have already attacked, haven't they?" Dark Magician Girl furrowed her brows and puffed out her cheeks in annoyance. "Or does the Supreme King intend to Set more cards?"
"No, I don't have any cards in my hand worth Setting." Jaden shook his head and looked up at her.
No cards worth Setting?
That meant there wouldn't be any Trap Cards to worry about next turn. Dark Magician Girl blinked. If that were the case, she was guaranteed to win once her turn arrived!
But why was the Supreme King's expression still so calm and composed? Did he still have a hidden ace? And why would he bother reminding her that he had no Set cards?
...
"Jaden?"
As the duel reached its climax, Alexis Rhodes and her friends arrived, drawn by the commotion. They immediately spotted Jaden and Dark Magician Girl standing on the dueling field.
"Dark Magician? That card on the girl's field is definitely Dark Magician, right?" Mindy's eyes widened as she pointed at the monster in shock.
"It's the real thing!" Jasmine couldn't help but cry out. "Isn't that the signature monster of the King of Games? Why is it appearing here?"
Alexis didn't respond to her friends' surprise. She watched the duel closely, her brow furrowed.
"All of Jaden's monsters have already attacked. Is he going to end his turn?"
No.
Looking at Jaden's face, Alexis's pupils trembled. Jaden's eyes were filled with the absolute certainty that he would settle this duel within this very turn!
It meant that no matter what backup plan his opponent had, Jaden believed he had already won. It was a manifestation of absolute confidence in his own Deck!
"I don't know what kind of tactics you plan to use next turn," Jaden said, looking directly at Dark Magician Girl and voicing her thoughts. "But I can feel that you think I've already lost as long as you reach your turn, right?"
"Eh?" Dark Magician Girl was stunned. She wanted to argue, but she could only pout, unable to find the words.
"Anyway, if the Supreme King ends his turn, that would be for the best. After all, the Battle Phase is already over."
"Who said my Battle Phase was over?" Jaden let out a soft chuckle. He took a card from his hand and flipped it face-up. "The final step isn't finished yet. I activate the Quick-Play Spell: Flash Fusion!"
"What?!" Dark Magician Girl's eyes went round with shock.
"Flash Fusion?!" The students below the stage also erupted into shouts of surprise.
"I knew it. That look in Jaden's eyes was the look of someone ending the duel," Alexis sighed in relief, feeling a quiet sense of joy.
"Eh? Alexis, it seems you really understand Jaden Yuki well."
"Exactly. It feels like you can guess exactly what he's about to do just by watching his movements," Jasmine and Mindy teased, smiling at each other.
"What are you two saying!" Alexis's face flushed red as she glared at them.
Dark Magician Girl's expression turned serious, and her brows knit together. "Flash Fusion... it sends Fusion Materials from the field to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon a monster from the Extra Deck. The monster summoned by this effect is destroyed at the End Phase... but since it's a Quick-Play Spell, it can be used during the Battle Phase!"
She looked toward Jaden's Elemental HERO Absolute Zero.
"And when Absolute Zero leaves the field, it destroys all monsters on the opponent's side. Which means... Master..."
Dark Magician Girl and Dark Magician locked eyes. Both saw the same realization in the other's gaze.
They had lost this duel.
"I use Elemental HERO Sunrise, Elemental HERO Stratos, and Elemental HERO Absolute Zero as materials for a Flash Fusion!" Jaden declared. "Come forth! Elemental HERO Core!"
Jaden pulled the card from his Extra Deck and placed it on his Duel Disk.
The silhouettes of the three heroes began to merge. In the next moment, a hero with a glowing red sphere in his chest emerged from the fusion vortex.
As Absolute Zero left the field, a powerful wave of freezing air swept over the field, instantly enveloping Dark Magician. His body shattered into ice dust and vanished.
"Ugh!"
Left without Dark Magician's protection, Dark Magician Girl gave a bitter smile and lowered her head. "Really... I didn't expect to lose this badly."
"No way, is Dark Magician Girl really going to lose?"
"Hey! Jaden Yuki, don't be so heartless!" The boys in the crowd wailed in despair.
Jasmine and Mindy looked at the group of boys with disdain, shaking their heads helplessly.
"There's no need to hold back. Even if the Supreme King went easy on me, I would still lose eventually," Dark Magician Girl said, glancing at the top of her Deck. She knew she and her master were completely defeated.
"Battle," Jaden commanded. "Core, attack Dark Magician Girl directly!"
Watching Elemental HERO Core loom before her, Dark Magician Girl felt a surge of emotion.
The Supreme King was truly a presence that could not be underestimated. The Jaden before her was likely even more powerful than the "Supreme King" of legend.
[Dark Magician Girl: LP 900 → 0]
[Jaden Yuki: WIN]
As the holograms slowly dissipated, there were no cheers from the crowd. The boys looked at the defeated Dark Magician Girl with heartbreak, appearing as though they were in physical pain. Their idol had lost. Even though the opponent was the famous Jaden Yuki, seeing their idol fall was a agonizing experience.
"The Supreme King is truly strong," Dark Magician Girl said, taking off her Duel Disk and looking at Jaden.
There was no disappointment on her face; instead, she looked quite happy.
"According to our bet, I have to go back to the Duel Spirit World now," she said, walking up to Jaden with her hands behind her back and a giggle. "Well then, let's meet again if fate allows, Supreme King Chu"
As she finished speaking, under the shocked gazes of every boy in the audience, Dark Magician Girl stood on her tiptoes and lightly pecked Jaden Yuki on the cheek.
The soft touch and the girl's fragrance left the unsuspecting Jaden standing there in a daze.
"Bye-bye, Supreme King~"
Winking at the stunned Jaden, Dark Magician Girl turned around and quickly left. She rounded a corner and, like a mischievous spirit, vanished from everyone's sight.
"No way! How could this happen?!"
"Why did she kiss Jaden Yuki?! I'm just as good-looking as him!"
"Why does my heart feel like it's breaking... Waaaah, my first love is over!"
The boys burst into a cacophony of wails and howls. To them, this Dark Magician Girl might have just been a student cosplaying, but the irrepressible jealousy made countless boys shed tears of envy.
"Well, it seems quite a few girls like Jaden Yuki," Mindy said, crossing her arms in surprise.
"Exactly. I really don't know what's so great about a guy like him," Jasmine agreed, nodding repeatedly. "By the way, Alexis, what's wrong? You've looked a bit strange for a while now."
"Alexis, are you listening to me?"
"Alexis?"
