Chapter 527 - Chapter 527: Kang’s Dynasty (1)

Peter Benjamin Parker was an ordinary high school freshman living in Queens, set to become a sophomore when the new semester began. He woke up early, preparing to cross half the "Prime Country" for his internship.

"Yesterday, the Avengers under the Great Conqueror Kang once again heroically defeated an insurgent offensive. We rejoice in the fact that our beautiful world is ruled by Conqueror Kang."

As he headed down to the first floor, J. Jonah Jameson was broadcasting this news on the television with a beaming smile, followed by the next headline: "In other news, New York Mayor Wilson Fisk plans to donate to the F.E.A.S.T. gala to express his gratitude for the institution's outstanding contributions to New York."

"Morning, Aunt May. Where's Uncle Ben?"

"He's already left for work. As you know, the place where he works has turned into a 19th-century Western town." Aunt May grumbled with dissatisfaction, "New York is so big, why did he have to go to the 19th century?"

"I don't know. Personally, I think I might prefer the age of dinosaurs."

"Next story," Jonah continued on the television. "The Hydra Führer and loyal follower of Conqueror Kang, Lord Zemo, has criticized the Eurasian Empire's false accusations regarding border conflicts. Emperor Doom has forcefully refuted these claims. We hope they can properly manage this relationship, as no one wishes to see war."

"Following that, news regarding the African Empire..."

In the 21st century, the Great Conqueror Kang had conquered the entire world and generously bestowed it upon his followers. Hydra received Central and Western Europe; Doom received Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, and Russia; Wakanda received all of Africa; and the Mutants were granted Australia. The world was perfectly orderly.

Different times and spaces overlapped. A 19th-century Western town, a prehistoric forest from the age of dinosaurs, or a futuristic metropolis from the year 2099—different eras intertwined to form the wonder created by the Great Conqueror Kang. This was especially true for New York.

But what did any of this have to do with Peter Parker, an ordinary student?

"I'm finished, Aunt May." After finishing breakfast, Peter spoke to her with a smile. "I'm heading to my internship now."

"Stay safe, Peter. Don't wander off."

On the way, he sent a text to Gwen. On the street, Peter dodged a World War II police patrol riding a mammoth, then took an ancient, early-model train to the company where he interned.

The Baxter Building.

"We should not sit idly by while Europe suffers! Hydra should not rule anywhere!"

Passing beneath Avengers Mansion, Peter saw an old man in his nineties holding a sign, denouncing the atrocities committed by Hydra in Europe. As he looked at the old man, he felt the man seemed more familiar the longer he looked.

Then he realized—wasn't this old man Captain America? This hero of World War II had faced a total upheaval in the 21st century. Unable to accept the fact that Hydra ruled Europe, he frequently organized protests. Unfortunately, the first superhero was now old and frail.

And almost no one was willing to oppose Kang's arrangements.

Peter took the elevator up the Baxter Building. This building had originally belonged to the famous scientists, the Fantastic Four. However, they had disappeared during an experiment, and now the building was largely unattended.

Even Peter didn't know why an intern like himself was primarily in charge of the building, but those were the exact words of Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards. In a video he left behind, he stated that if the team ever met with misfortune, Peter could take over the Baxter Building and form a brand-new Fantastic Four.

But he didn't have any superpowers; what kind of new Fantastic Four could he form?

Peter shrugged. There wasn't much for him to do besides routine equipment checks. He then went to the residential level to visit the true master of the building.

"Good morning, Franklin."

Seeing the three-year-old child lying across the computer, Peter always felt things were a bit strange, but he didn't know what to say. "Have you found Dr. Richards and the others yet?"

"No." The child shook his head helplessly. "But I believe my mom and dad are fine. I'll find them."

"Alright... Do you want to go see Valeria? Even though she's currently in the Eurasian Empire with His Majesty Doom."

As Peter spoke, he pulled out his phone. Seeing Gwen's reply to his text, he breathed a sigh of relief. Good, he had a date after work today.

Logan woke up from his slumber, clutching his head helplessly. For some reason, he felt a splitting headache, and then he realized something with a shock.

He remembered all of his memories.

After the brainwashing by Weapon X, he was supposed to have lost all his memories, so why had he woken up? This wasn't right! What was the last thing he was doing?

He remembered—a man wearing a purple helmet had appeared at Avengers Mansion holding a cube, and then what?

Logan woke up holding his head and found himself on a Helicarrier. Confused, he turned on a nearby tablet and saw a world he had absolutely no recollection of.

Conqueror Kang ruled the world and had carved it up among different megalomaniacs. S.H.I.E.L.D. had become Kang's lapdog, and Logan was a non-commissioned officer within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Wait, he remembered Cyclops was missing. What happened to the school?

Realizing things were going south, Logan rushed out of the room and, under the astonished gazes of others, took a plane back to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Here, statues of the X-Men were lined up: Cyclops, the White Queen, Iceman... all the X-Men who had set out to help Spider-Man were considered deceased or missing.

But if Cyclops was dead in this nonsensical new world and he himself was in S.H.I.E.L.D., who was in charge of the school?

Logan rushed toward the Headmaster's office. On the way, he encountered Jubilee, who greeted him, but he said nothing, storming into the office with murderous intent.

Then, he froze.

"Good morning, Logan. Is S.H.I.E.L.D. on holiday today?"

Charles Xavier sat in his wheelchair, looking at him with confusion. "Is something wrong? You don't look very well."

"No, it's nothing, I just..."

Logan walked a few circles around Charles, confirming his scent, which made Charles even more bewildered. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"No. Actually, maybe there is." Logan looked at the Professor. "If you are the real Chuck, and all of this I know is real... then I need you to help me fix my brain. Something is wrong with it."
