Chapter 618 - Chapter 618: They’re Fighting!

Namor pulled a massive stunt at a very inopportune time—in an effort to weaken Krang's fighting force as much as possible, he chose to strike first at Krang's ally, the Roxxon Corporation.

Whether Namor had simply stayed in Atlantis for too long or his brain was waterlogged (the latter being more likely), he completely forgot one thing: a single Roxxon ship does not represent the entire company. Even if he truly smashed the vessel, the corporation still possessed enough resources to continue its operations.

Furthermore, he had already learned from the Avengers that the one truly executing this plan was the Enchantress, Amora. Would Amora really care about a shipload of mortals?

As for Dario Agger, if Thor hadn't been standing right there, he would have already transformed into a Minotaur to give Namor a proper fight. But since Thor was present, why waste the energy?

Thor, for his part, felt indignant but had no intention of raising a hand against these people. While some among them might be Hydra, Thor didn't believe a company could manage to have every single employee be a Hydra agent; the risk of exposure would be far too high. Consequently, there were a large number of innocent people on this ship.

Moreover, Thor hadn't even considered the possibility of Loki collaborating with Hydra. He simply assumed Roxxon had been ensnared by Amora's charms. If Amora handed the Casket of Ancient Winters to Roxxon's people, who then delivered it to Krang, it would allow Asgard to avoid the appearance of directly interfering with Olympus.

In light of all this...

"Stop, Namor! Your attack here is meaningless. Most of these crew members are innocent. Even if you intend to act, fighting them won't help you counter the Casket of Ancient Winters."

Thor acted accordingly, stepping in front of Namor, who was holding his trident and preparing to poke eighty transparent holes in the ship. He attempted to halt Namor's further progress, but Namor glared at him, fuming with rage. "Get out of my way, Avenger! these people are accomplices to that bastard Krang. They must die here."

"I don't want to fight you, Namor. You are, after all, a victim..."

"A victim!" Namor's temper flared as he glared at Thor, his fury causing a mist to rise around him. "I am no victim! I am Namor McKenzie! Lord of the Seven Seas! The rightful King of Atlantis! I am—"

"You're acting like a helpless child, Namor. Stop!"

Inevitably, Thor's words offered no help. Enraged, Namor hurled his trident directly at Thor. After Thor leaned aside to dodge the projectile, Namor lunged forward and landed a punch square on Thor's face. Caught off guard, the airborne Thor was sent flying a dozen meters away.

"Fine then, Atlantean." Thor stared at Namor, raising his hammer. "You shall bear the wrath of the Son of Odin!"

In an instant, lightning and waterspouts collided. Agger watched the earth-shaking battle with a faint smile. Beside him, the captain rushed over to report, "Mr. Agger, the hull has been punctured in several places. We're taking on water..."

"This is a twenty-first-century vessel, Captain. Even a ship from the Age of Discovery wouldn't sink just because a trident poked a few holes in it. Let's get back to work."

After speaking, Agger noticed the captain remained motionless and arched an eyebrow. "What are you waiting for? We have an Avenger protecting us, not to mention a god."

Meanwhile, Peter was still monitoring the progress of the underwater detection device. This probe, which was clearly more advanced than standard equipment, had reached a depth of over a thousand meters and was transmitting a vivid, lag-free video signal. The device seemed to be following specific instructions as it moved rapidly. Peter frowned, intending to see exactly where this thing was headed.

Then, he heard the Captain's voice over the comms.

"Spider-Man, satellite signals show you're in the Pacific?"

"Uh, yes, Cap. I opened a portal to get here. My teleportation magic is much more practiced now; as long as I have a clear description of the location, I can warp over. I'm trying to see what Roxxon is up to. They clearly aren't looking for oil; they seem to be searching for something else. Namor might know."

"I can't get through to Thor. Can you stop Namor—"

Peter immediately interrupted the Captain. "The two of them are already fighting."

Captain: "???"

Upon hearing this, the Captain remained silent for a long time before finally responding. "That's not normal. I admit Namor doesn't have the best temper... or rather, it's terrible, and his logic differs from surface-dwellers, but he shouldn't be this reckless. It's as if he's lost his mind..."

"If a blonde lady wearing a green medieval mage robe counts, then I've spotted the Enchantress Amora on the ship, the one Thor mentioned. Judging by the name, she masters magic used to charm others. If a hothead is being influenced by magic, it's quite normal for him to become this volatile."

As Peter spoke, he offered a suggestion. "But considering Namor's personality, Cap, don't you think letting Thor give him a bit of a beating is actually a good idea?"

"It is a good idea. A disobedient soldier needs a lesson."

The Captain let out a chuckle before reminding Peter, "I'm not entirely sure what Roxxon gave the White House, but they are unwilling to revoke Roxxon's overseas drilling permits. Since you say they're looking for something else, find out what it is. Also, stay safe."

"Roger that."

Hanging up the phone, Peter continued to monitor the situation. The commotion from the fight outside was terrifying, but it didn't affect Peter inside the ship. His Spider-Sense didn't foresee Thor or Namor smashing the vessel into the sea. He had already relinquished control of the detection robot and deleted his control logs, allowing the Roxxon crew to continue their survey.

Eventually, the robot stopped atop a certain building in the city of Atlantis. Peter transmitted all the data back to Avengers Headquarters, hoping they could provide some answers.

And then.

"If you plan on using magic to ambush me, lady, my advice is not to hold your hands so high—the movement was a bit too grand."

Four mechanical spider claws emerged from Peter's back. He stood up and turned around to face Amora, who had walked up behind him to launch a sneak attack. He deactivated the invisibility that was largely useless against a mage.

Amora looked at the mortal and chuckled softly. "Even so, what can you possibly do, child?"

"Uh, place you under arrest?"
