Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
-Brockton Bay, The Trainyard-
She had spent the entire day in a state of boredom, a rare occurrence in Brockton Bay, known as the Disneyland of crime. It was supposed to be a hotbed of excitement and danger, especially here in Merchant's territory, where criminal activities unfolded with the precision of a clock.
Of course she had been kicking bad guys' asses left and right since she left Japan years ago.
Leaving Japan might have seemed like a questionable move to some, perhaps even to herself on occasion. But faced with a choice between mundane charity work or dealing with unpowered twerps, turning to villainy just for a bit of action wasn't an option. Besides, she had a soft spot for the Super Sentai Team. She liked those guys.
What really gnawed at her, though, was the absence of worthy adversaries. Without enemy capes to engage, she couldn't scratch that ever-growing itch for a good fight. It sounded selfish, she knew, but she couldn't deny it. And thanks to her very visible and fluffy power it was impossible to sneak in underground arenas.
To justify her actions, she often repeated the same excuse in her head: that there were other places where her skills could be put to better use, where the need for new heroes was greater than in Japan. After all, plenty of Japanese people had migrated to the United States for various reasons. So, technically, she was accompanying and protecting her people.
The PRT guys had undoubtedly tried to recruit her for their cape teams, but she wasn't interested. Screw that.
She had always been a solo girl.
Solo for the win!
Teams were for cowards who lacked faith in their own strength.
But circling back to her little problem, it was downright strange how peaceful Merchant territory had been lately. Especially at night, when crime rates typically soared even higher. There weren't even any unpowered crackheads harassing people, giving her an excuse to drop in and lend a hand. It wasn't quite the same rush as taking down a villain, but it still felt damn good to help people.
Having patrolled Merchant Territory for weeks now, she figured they must have learned their lesson after she handed Trainwreck a serious beat down and sent their boss running with his tail between his legs just a week ago. As if a Killdozer is enough to take her down.
HA!
Maybe it was time to shake things up and move on to ABB territory. She was itching for a rematch with those guys; they put up a good fight. Well, most of them did. She definitely wasn't keen on tangling with Lung again, though. That overgrown lizard was no joke—she'd narrowly avoided getting roasted last time.
That left Empire 88 territory. Those racist pricks were always easy to provoke, especially that piece of trash Hookwolf. He deserved an ass-kicking and a one-way ticket to a jail cell, preferably the Birdcage. But for such a beast, he sure knew how to lie low.
Ah, well. She'd patrol a few more streets and call it a night. She already had a plan for where to go the next day.
Just as she was about to move on, her smartphone interrupted her thoughts with its insistent ringing. She slowly stopped, lowering her speed, then came to a complete stop atop a nearby building. Fishing the device from her waist belt, she checked the caller ID and recognized the number, prompting a frown before she reluctantly answered.
"Hey girl, whatcha you calling me for? Kinda busy here."
"Yeah, yeah. Clearly bustling taking a stroll on the streets. Found something yet, Mirko?" came the teasing reply.
"Watch it, twerp!"
"Okay, okay, I just needed someone to fill me in on what's happening in the landfill. Something big is going on right now, but I don't know what exactly."
"Uh, really?" Rumi stepped closer to the building edge, peering in the direction of the landfill, but saw nothing besides the visible silhouettes of trash. "I don't see anything big."
"Still, I need your help. New Wave is currently busy because the ABB are harassing the other Asian independent capes, again. And the PRT won't bother with this besides another file for the infinite archives that never see the light of day."
Okay, change of plans. She decided to patrol ABB territory and beat up their capes; they needed to be taught a lesson for harassing her people.
"Okay, fine, I'll go take a look."
"Thanks, Mirko. I owe you one!"
"Not owe me, Oracle. You know what I want."
"Ugh, okay, you battle junkie. I managed to predict Hookwolf's movements, which was pretty hard, if you ask me, but I'll send you the address where he should appear next."
"Nice." Hookwolf's days were numbered now. And it would be even better if the tin man joined her fight; she'd drive her foot right up his ass so hard he wouldn't be able to speak bullshit again.
"Still, get there as fast as possible. I heard that Mush is going full mecha!"
"Wait... you mean the little ugly trash pink goblin, that Mush?" She frowned, recalling her encounter with the pink bastard. She had sent him flying with a kick and never saw him again.
"Yeah, I didn't know he could become a mecha, although made of trash, but still a big mecha!"
"How the hell can't I see it then?" She looked back at the landfill in the distance, squinting her eyes really hard, trying to spot the mecha Oracle mentioned, but couldn't see anything besides trash.
"Oh, it isn't bigger than a house."
"Tch, figures. Gotta bail, girl."
"Good luck!"
And with that, she hung up.
Rumi sighed as she pocketed her smartphone. Oracle, what an annoying girl. But she was the only thinker available for independent capes like her, and a good one at that.
Well, no time to lose. She had to check what was happening over there. If that pink goblin had created a mecha, then it should be big and strong, which meant she'd be fighting a big robot. A win in her book.
Taking a couple of steps back to get more distance, she ran and picked up speed, easily jumping across buildings and efficiently crossing entire street blocks.
Arriving at the closest vantage point to the landfill below, she saw that Oracle, once again, was right. There was something big happening down there.
Despite the darkness of the night, she could make out a half-mecha body made purely from trash, swinging its arms and slamming the ground with incredible force, causing small tremors.
Then, seconds later, its right arm was blown off.
"JUSTICE CANNOT BE STOPPED!"
Eh?
Maybe she had heard wrong. Even her bunny ears could mishear things sometimes, so maybe she needed to clean them.
"JUSTICE SMAAAAASH!"
As the booming voice echoed louder and clearer, Rumi watched in awe as whoever was screaming his attack moves hit Mush's trash suit straight on the chest. Before she could fully process it, she saw the guy actually pierce through the mecha's chest and come out flying from the other side, with the pink goblin in his hands.
With that attack, Mush's trash mecha collapsed on the spot, creating a new mountain of garbage.
She quickly picked up her phone and called Oracle.
"Hey, girl, you were right."
"Great! So what is it?"
"It's over, actually. A…" She squinted her eyes again, trying to discern the scene and find a buff dude holding Mush by the throat, the pink goblin flailing his arms like a chicken. "A really strong semi-naked guy just beat Mush."
"A semi-naked guy? Oh! It must be a new trigger then. Merchants doing Merchant things and accidentally triggered one of their victims, so naturally, he turned the tables on them."
"I guess he is..." Rumi winced as she watched the new guy smash Mush against the floor. "Yeah, he is beating him bad, really bad." She looked again, and the big guy was playing soccer with Mush's small body.
"Yep, new trigger. That's typical of them when they get new power and are very angry with someone."
Now he was executing those professional wrestling takedowns on the poor bastard.
But she had to admit, Mush was really tough. Anybody else would have died from that amount of punishment. She should have known after she kicked him and was back the next day.
And now he was mercilessly stomping him.
"Okaaay, I gotta stop this. At this rate, he's gonna kill him."
"Be careful Mirko, trigger events are known to be messy."
"Yeah, yeah," she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Call those paper pushers, so they deal with the aftermath. I have to stop this."
Without thinking it twice, she ended the call and leapt off the building. Her feet hit the pavement with a resounding thud, but she barely registered the impact as she sprinted towards the fighting scene, or beatdown in this case.
Before long, she arrived at the scene, confirming that her eyes hadn't deceived her. The imposing figure towering over the battered Mush was nearly naked, clad only in a pair of black boxers that barely preserved his modesty.
But most importantly, the freshly triggered guy was playing with Mush's battered body as if he was a basketball all the while flashing a toothy grin. Well, not like she actually cared for the little shit, but there were limits to how far they could take it.
And she could tell the Merchant cape was pretty much unconscious due to the amount of beating he took.
She could have simply called out to the brute, but...
The truth was, she'd been yearning for a fight.
"Luna rush!"
With a powerful leap, she propelled herself forward at breakneck speed, delivering a flying kick that landed squarely on the jaw of the new cape, catching him completely off guard. He was sent hurtling several meters through the air until he collided with the recently formed a mountain of trash, causing it to collapse instantly, burying him beneath its weight.
Standing amidst the aftermath, Rumi maintained a vigilant gaze, her guard raised, anticipating a counterattack from her opponent. But as the seconds ticked by, there was no sign of movement from the buried cape, prompting a furrow of frustration to crease her brow.
Had she... had she overestimated him?
Despite his formidable physique, she had assumed he could withstand a fair amount of punishment. She hadn't gone all out, so at most, she figured she might have knocked him out accidentally or perhaps given him a broken or dislocated jaw. Nothing too serious, she reasoned.
Yet, as the moments stretched on without any indication of his recovery, she couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. She had messed up, and now it seemed she wouldn't get the fight she had been yearning for.
With a resigned sigh, she slumped her shoulders, realizing that now she had to fulfill her other duties as a hero, very mundane and boring stuff.
Pick up the merchant cape and cuff him… she forgot the plastic cuff at home. Okay, so she needed to find a pipe or some wire to restrain the stinky bastard before leaving his sorry ass somewhere safe and visible so those paper pushers could pick him up and send him straight to jail.
"Ah!"
Rumi stumbled, her body protesting as she dropped to one knee upon taking a single step. A sharp throbbing sensation shot through her right leg, reminiscent of the pain she experienced when she had pushed herself too far in training, crushing rocks with her signature kicks. The similarity was unsettling.
"Ugh, this is not good," she muttered under her breath, realizing the situation she had gotten herself into. She couldn't afford to be seen limping, especially in hostile territory where villainous capes lurked like vultures, ready to pounce at any sign of weakness. Not that she was afraid; far from it. In fact, she welcomed the challenge they presented. But dealing with their nuisance would be... well, a nuisance.
Summoning her resolve, Rumi took a deep breath and pushed through the pain, gritting her teeth as she forced herself to stand. Every movement sent a wave of discomfort coursing through her, but she refused to let it show. With determination in her red eyes, she straightened up, hissing as the pain persisted when she shifted her weight onto her injured leg. But she pressed on, willing herself to walk as if the pain didn't exist.
Maybe she could go to the hospital and get a quick fix from Panacea.
"An attempt against justice, so you must be a villain!"
What?
"What?"
Before she could process what she just heard, the new cape she had thought she had knocked out emerged from the piles of trash with explosive speed. Debris flew in every direction as he struck a ridiculous pose, flexing his biceps in a show of strength.
"FEEL MY JUSTICE!" he shouted, charging at her with lightning speed.
Her eyes widened in shock at how fucking fast he was, despite his bulky size. Instinctively, she jumped high to avoid his ramming charge and twisted her body mid-air to get a better view of him. To her surprise, he had left his back completely exposed, a prime opportunity to strike a more vulnerable spot.
As soon as she landed on the ground, she shifted all her weight onto her left leg and delivered a powerful spin kick towards his head. But just as quickly as she had attacked, he had already moved on; never stopping his running pace.
Instead, he crashed into another pile of trash with such force that it toppled over like bowling pins. And then another and another, leaving her behind and confused as he charged further into the chaos.
Besides screaming "justice" at every opportunity, he seemed to be practically fleeing from the fight, or perhaps he had little control over his own speed. Rumi had witnessed similar occurrences with a few capes in the past, often resulting in broken bones when they miscalculated and crashed themselves onto walls.
"Is he a muscle brute?" she muttered to herself, pondering the origin of his recent powers. The strength enchancement was a dead giveaway, but then again, she couldn't shake the suspicion that she might be confusing him with a changer. After all, his speed was nothing short of ridiculous.
Before she could delve any deeper into her thoughts, another explosion rocked the area, drawing her attention to a silhouette soaring high into the sky.
"JUSTICE CRUSH!"
Instinct kicked in once more, and she barely had time to leap back as a human meteor crashed down in front of her. The impact obliterated the ground, unleashing a powerful shockwave that sent chunks of debris and trash hurtling through the air, forcing her to shield her face with her arms as she was propelled backward.
Despite the force of the blast, she quickly regained her balance and landed gracefully several meters away.
Not the first time she faced those sorts of explosive attacks.
"JUSTICE WAVE!"
At the sound of the move's name, she watched as a wave of earth surged toward her, dispelling the fog of war and revealing the big guy manipulating the ground itself, whipping it towards her in a devastating wave.
Caught off guard by the tremors beneath her feet, Rumi found herself unable to react in time. The wave crashed into her, launching her high into the air.
"Your days of villainy end today under my glorious justice!"
As she regained her focus, she noticed him assuming a stance, poised as if preparing to sprint. It was clear he was waiting for her to descend naturally.
Okay, enough of nice girl. It was time to get serious.
"FINAL JUSTICE!"
He declared his next move just as gravity began to pull her downward. Rumi carefully observed as the peculiar cape propelled himself forward to meet her with what he deemed "final justice."
Yeah, no.
At the crucial moment, just as she was about to be struck, she twisted her body with lightning speed, utilizing his extended arm as a leverage point to swiftly propel herself upward. In a flash, she wrapped her legs around his neck, getting a look of shock from her opponent as she secured a firm grip.
"Okay buddy, you had your fun. My turn."
With a primal roar, she summoned every ounce of strength in her legs and back muscles.
"Luna... Tijera!"
She unleashed one of her signature finishing moves, reaffirming her status as the ultimate badass and kick-ass bunny hero in the world. With a mighty effort, she hoisted his entire body into the air and executed a flawless arc, slamming him headfirst into the ground with devastating force.
Never skip leg days.
Pushing through the pain, she winced as her leg throbbed even more intensely than before. Ignoring the discomfort, she turned around to assess the aftermath of the battle, only to find the new trigger completely buried beneath the rubble, his legs dangling limply in the air. With a sigh, she rubbed her shoulder and rolled her arm a few times, easing the tension that had built up during the fight.
There were a couple surprises here and there, but she took down the big guy. Now, all that was left to do was to call Oracle and wait for the PRT to arrive and clean up the mess. And what a mess it was. Luckily, she wouldn't be footing the bill for the repairs, and there were tinkers who specialized in fixing collateral damage. Bless those guys.
"Nice try, big guy." she smirked, "But you're too young to handle this fluffy ass." With a playful gesture, she lightly smacked her toned rear.
"Justice…"
"Huh, you awake?" she leaned in closer, listening intently for any signs of movement or distress, prepared to lend a hand if necessary.
Before she could react, the ground beneath her violently shook once more, followed by another explosion that sent chunks of debris pelting her cheek with force, causing her to lose her balance and stumble backward.
"JUSTICE NEVER RESTS!"
To her astonishment, the supposedly defeated cape rose to his feet, flashing a confident grin as he turned his attention back to her.
Rubbing her stinging cheek, Rumi rose to her feet, meeting his intense gaze with one of her own. A surge of adrenaline pulsed through her chest, igniting a savage grin on her lips as she licked them in anticipation.
"Bring it on, big guy!"
Her challenge was taken to heart as he once more charged at her.
"JUSTICE RUSH!"
Anticipating his predictable attack this time, Rumi leaped to meet his reckless charge with a spinning kick aimed straight at his jaw. However, to her surprise, he shrugged off her blow and continued his relentless advance, forcing her to twist her body mid-air and use his shoulders as leverage to propel herself away from him, landing gracefully behind him.
Quickly assessing the situation, she glanced over her shoulder to find him still charging, but instead of crashing into the trash piles like before, he abruptly changed course, returning with the same ferocity, his grin never faltering.
Realizing that trying to dodge his attacks was futile, Rumi opted to face his charge head-on. Planting her feet firmly on the ground, she extended her hands in front of her, bracing herself for the impact. Taking the bull by the horns was something she had plenty of experience with. Fun game, if you asked her.
Before long, the brute crashed into her, his momentum colliding with her outstretched hands. Despite her best efforts, she felt her entire body shake from the force of the impact, her muscles screaming in protest. Yet, instead of dampening her resolve, the pain only fueled her determination. However, she soon realized that she hadn't succeeded in stopping him; like at all. Rather, he was manipulating her movements at his whim, her feet unable to find purchase as she was pushed back further and further.
Glancing from the corner of her eye, she saw the looming wall rapidly approaching, and the last thing she wanted was to be flattened against it. With no other option, she released her grip and attempted to leap to the side, intending to let him crash into the wall alone.
But her attempt to escape was quickly thwarted as she felt a strong hand clamp down on her ankle, squeezing with an iron grip.
"Gotcha!"
Shit.
Cursing under her breath, she braced herself as he slammed her hard against the ground. The impact knocked the wind out of her with a sharp gasp.
Before she could catch her breath, he hoisted her entire body off the ground and flung her back down again, this time face first. She gritted her teeth and endured the pain as he repeated the action, lifting and slamming her onto the opposite side.
Just when she thought it couldn't get any worse, he lifted her once more and spun her above his head like a towel, gaining momentum before hurling her body into a nearby metal fence. The force of the impact tore through the fence and sent her crashing onto the road, rolling several meters before finally coming to a stop.
Grimacing in pain, she groaned and struggled to get up.
But… it was fun.
It was very fucking fun.
How long has it been?!
She relished in the thrill of combat, a sensation she had not experienced in what felt like an eternity. Her body quivered with adrenaline as she pushed herself to the brink, reveling in the pain and strain that came with it. Rising to one knee, she licked her lips, savoring the metallic taste of blood that ignited a primal fire within her.
"That's all that you got?!"
She taunted, flashing a feral grin as she wiped the blood from her face.
"Justice won't be denied!" He roared back, his determination matching hers.
Having allowed him the first move, it was now her turn to seize control of the fight. With a fierce battle cry, she charged back into the fray.
"JUSTICE WAVE!"
He swiftly went on the offensive, slamming his fists into the ground to create another mini earthquake, conjuring yet another earth wave in an attempt to overwhelm her. But Rumi was ready. Anticipating his move, she leaped into action at precisely the right moment, using the wave to propel herself forward with even greater momentum.
"LUNA FALL!"
Descending with amplified force, Rumi struck him squarely in the chest with enough power to pulverize rocks, just as she had practiced countless times before. But much to her disbelief, instead of crumbling under her assault like she had hoped, he stood his ground with a devilish smirk on his face.
"My Justice is unyielding against villainy!"
She shouted, before grabbing her shoulder with a grip so tight it felt like an iron clasp.
In a split second, he delivered a brutal punch to her stomach that sent searing pain radiating through her body. She gasped for air as her vision went white, feeling every organ in her body shift and rearrange itself.
With a sickening thud, she crashed against a pile of trash and everything went dark.
The last thing she heard was his loud, annoying voice.
"ANOTHER VICTORY FOR MY JUSTICE!"
-Assault, Ethan-
"NOW ERASERHEAD!"
Assault watched as the nullifier shot forward, his bandages successfully wrapping around the newly awakened para-human to fully immobilize him. The action grabbed the full attention of the blonde man, who slowly turned around, squinting at them before inspecting his restrained body.
He felt a surge of satisfaction knowing they acted swiftly. Eraserhead had seized the perfect opportunity to neutralize the threat. Now, all they needed to do was calm the big guy before taking him back to headquarters to sort things out and add his name to the ever-growing list of para-humans in Brockton Bay.
"MMMM?! No rest for the righteous! Villainy shall be stopped!"
Something felt off after hearing that unwavering confidence in the man's voice.
And his gut feeling proved correct as the awakened parahuman effortlessly tore off Eraserhead's bandages, which were supposed to completely nullify powers and has never failed…till now.
"What?!" He was more vocal than his companion, despite being equally shocked.
"Petty villainous tricks won't work against my GLORIOUS JUSTICE!" the blonde guy proclaimed, striking a dramatic pose before assuming a combat stance. "Prepare yourself villains!"
He looked around taking advantage of his acceleration to get an understanding of his surroundings and saw the PRT response team already getting into position, the Japanese hero taking a defensive stance as he already recovered from the initial shock and then where the hero Mirko had crashed and was currently unconscious. That without forgetting the vast amount of destruction that occurred in the landfill.
But otherwise, there were no innocent casualties, which was a good thing.
With the blonde man clearly identifying himself as a hero of justice, Assault knew they had one chance to defuse the situation. He raised his hands in a gesture of surrender and stepped forward, calling out, "Wait, wait!"
To his relief, the buff man halted, giving him the opportunity to explain. "We're not villains. We're part of the Protectorate and the PRT of Brockton Bay. All heroes here, committed to bringing justice to the innocent and punishing the guilty."
That was a weird thing to say, but that was the best he could come up at the moment.
The awakened parahuman crossed his arms in front of his chest and tilted his head. "But you attacked my justice and prevented me from enacting justice. Only villains stop justice."
"It was a misunderstanding, big guy. Really sorry about that, it couldn't be avoided. This tends to happen with trigger events. Heroes are told to stop new triggers as soon as they see them to avoid unnecessary damages and to save innocent lives." He has seen so many trigger events and it was the norm to get a couple of casualties.
"Hmmmm…" the parahuman mused, tapping his chin in thought.
Which was a good thing. Now he needed one more thing and defused the whole situation.
"Just stand down and come with us, okay? I promise you that we will bring everyone to justice as heroes and a member of the Protectorate."
The parahuman's serious expression melted into a grin. "HAHAHAH! I CAN SEE YOU BURNING WITH JUSTICE, MY FRIEND!"
As the parahuman extended his hand for a handshake, Assault hesitated briefly before accepting. Unsurprisingly, the big guy's grip was very firm.
"You can only be an ally of justice!" the man proclaimed.
"Yeah, we do our best. Now, can you please follow us to the truck over there?" Assault gestured towards the waiting PRT vehicle.
"Sure, lead the way, err…."
"Assault. And my partner here is Eraserhead."
"Very well, friend Assault and friend Eraserhead. Show me the way to justice!"
With a sigh of relief, he guided the man towards the waiting PRT truck, grateful that the situation had been peacefully resolved.
And avoided a messy confrontation.
Ethan wished that all the trigger events were like that. Just exchange of words and everyone leaves happy.
"Ethan, is everything okay down there?" came the voice of his wife through his earpiece.
"Yeah, he's coming in peacefully," he replied.
"Whew, that's a relief. I really wouldn't have wanted to fight that guy."
He looked at his surroundings again. "Yeah, me neither."
-Amy Dallon, Panacea-
All things considered, it could have been worse.
Trigger events were usually messy affairs.
But it was still a good thing that this particular trigger event was an exception. Now she was finishing healing the heroine Mirko and then she needed to find the rest of the injured people. After all, as the great and benevolent heroine Panacea, she couldn't bear to leave any soul to die or suffer, even if they were criminals, or so the public believed.
If it was up to her, she would leave those scumbags to fend for themselves all alone. But then, Carol would go into a long rant and say how disappointed she was in her and the PR damage or how much damage that would cause to New Wave's reputation as a family friendly hero group, and that was being generous. Because maybe Carol would go into a different rant about her finally turning to villainy. So she had to heal the injured merchants who must be buried somewhere in all this wreckage.
It was like an earthquake hit the place.
"Uhhh what?" Oh, Mirko was finally waking up.
"Welcome back to the land of the living," Her beloved sister chimed in with a playful grin.
Mirko winced as she struggled to sit up, holding her head in her hand. "Did... did I lose?"
"Yeeep, but lucky for you, you were in one piece. Mostly," Amy replied, listing off the heroine's injuries. "A few cracked bones, superficial cuts, one dislocated shoulder, some tendinosis, muscle strains, and bruises—lots of bruises both internal and external. Honestly, your tendons might've snapped if you kept going."
"Wow, you sure took a beating." Vicky commented.
Mirko blinked once before slowly rising to her feet.
"Oh well, you win some and lose some." She remarked, clenching her fists with a savage grin. "Now, where is the big guy?! I could go for a second round."
Amy frowned, shaking her head. "I'm not healing you again." Despite the relative ease with which she could mend Mirko's injuries, the last thing she wanted was another lecture from Carol about abandoning her duties at the hospital in favor of vigilante heroics and potentially miss an emergency that only Panacea could fix.
"Nah, I'd win."
She rolled her eyes. Typical of this woman.
"Sorry to say, Mirko, but the PRT already took him away," Vicky interjected, gesturing toward the commotion in the distance.
Pretty hard to miss the crowd of people, cars and lights, all focused on a semi-naked man who happened to be very buff, accompanied by the Protectorate capes. So it was safe to assume they were pretty much gone from here.
"Tch, paper pushers are always taking away the fun stuff," Mirko grumbled. "Anyway, thanks for patching me up, doc. Now, I gotta rest, train, and find the big guy for another fight." With a wave, she sauntered off into the streets. "See ya 'round!"
Moments later, the rabbit hero took off.
"Yeah, later," Amy mumbled, glancing at her watch. She still had an hour left on her hospital shift.
-Daniel, (pending cape name)-
The PRT truck is way more comfortable than expected, like the seat is pretty comfy. The fluffy pillow provided a surprisingly cozy seat, cushioning me from the hard metal.
But despite the comfortable seat, my mood was anything but pleasant. Because I was pretty pissed, like really pissed off.
The opportunity to capture Mush and earn some much-needed credits had been within reach, so fucking close to get those sweet credits. I could have used those earnings to start paying off my loan and save up to purchase the second tier of my defenses and shrug off all the dangers of Earth-Bet.
But the company say fuck you and modified my heritage perk, rendering it practically useless before I could make effective use of it. Now I can only bite willing targets, those who gave their full consent, practically the same as a love confession. Taking away my only way to capture the evil psychopathic villains and other shitty people from this death world.
Needless to say, I had every reason to be livid.
How can I even capture and sell those bastards now? Seduction?
Impossible thanks to what the modder has done to me.
The crippling cape speech, that stupid modifier, has completely taken away my ability to speak properly or to express myself, took a while to deduce. Thankfully, it's only my mouth but not my actions which I have full control so of course I have been holding back the entire time and the reason I took the first chance to get away from all this mess, and pass it off as a trigger event but… oh my fucking god that was so cringe!
Justice this, justice that. Justice, justice!
In comics that's kinda cool and funny, but in real life it's fucking cringe.
However, all of this could be forgiven because I finally understood the company's true intentions.
The company is cruel, but just.
Why do I say this?
Because the bnuuy is real.
THE CHOCO BNUUY IS FUCKING REAL!
