Chapter 2: New Beginnings
Chapter Text
Date: April 23 2011
Making my way down the well-lit and moderately well-maintained corridor of my apartment building's topmost floor I stopped in front of the second to last door. A small metal plate engraved with the number 124 Stared back at me as I fumbled for the keys in my pocket, my hands still a bit shaky from the day's earlier activities.
With a sigh I finally managed to get the door open, my subconscious hurry doing me no favors with the doors annoyingly touchy lock. Making my way past the entry way I shut and locked the door and then proceeded to flip my light switch. It was an activity so routine that it was barely worth mentioning, which was probably why I was thinking about it, my mind trying to escape from the panic and apprehension that had occupied my entire journey home.
I made my way to my apartment's small living room, slumping down onto my worn blue recliner with a long sigh. My headache continued throbbing away as I slowly rubbed circles on my temple trying to ease the pain as I truly tried to unpack the day's events.
I was a parahuman now. I'd figured that much out on the walk home; it was what that meant for the future that really mattered. My life was going to change, and that change would most certainly be drastic. Sure, I could try to continue living how I'd been living up till now, but just the idle thought of returning to the workforce with boring, ordinary people felt wrong. I was going to become a cape, it was just the truth of it, I couldn't settle for mediocrity any longer than I already had, and triggering was really the last straw. But what sort of cape did I want to be?
Hero or Villain? They both had their appeals. On one hand being a hero was tempting, all that influence and fame would certainly be nice, and it would also probably drastically improve my sex life, but I hoped the winds of change would affect that no matter what I picked. Now on the other hand I could become some sort of villain, robbing banks? Selling illegal substances? I was less opposed to it from a moral standpoint than I should have been, murder may make me a bit queasy but I'm sure I'd get used to it in time; really the kicker for me were the existing gangs. The Empire being a group of nazi pretenders lost in the fantasy that they hadn't lost the war, the ABB, being a group of disorganized Orientals under the leadership of a power mad dragon, and finally the Merchants what was there even to say?
I couldn't see myself meshing well with any of the three gangs, between incompetent leadership to one of the gangs only accepting yellow skinned individuals there wasn't much to write home about, and while being an independent villain was always an option, it just didn't sound like a good idea.
Brockton Bay just wasn't a good place for independent capes, and while that went for both heroes and villains, I think the latter would suffer the worst of it. I'd have to think about it more, I wasn't quite ready to make my mind up quite yet.

I wasn't awake till the first few mouthfuls of coffee had already been gulped down, the warm liquid returning me to the land of the living as I went about making my breakfast. I wasn't a morning person, never had been and I doubt I ever will be but I decided circumstances as they were I probably needed to get a jump on the day, so I had set my alarm clock forward and doomed my future self to the most miserable part of the day.
The sizzle of fresh bacon took the edge off my morning funk as I slowly added a few more strips to the pan.
A night's sleep had won out against my sudden onset migraine, and with a clear head I was more capable of long term, and hopefully good, decision making. I knew I wanted to join the cape scene, to some degree but before I joined the fray, I needed to figure out what my power was.
The toast I had started a while ago popped and drew me away from the stove, of course any power testing would have to come after I ate my breakfast.
Plating my food I say to eat, my old wood chair grinding on the tile floor as I scooted forward, a bit too far I came to realize as I bumped the table and sent my fork skittering off my plate towards the floor.
My hand darted out to catch it but was a hair too slow, and it carried on with its downward descent I without much thought willed it to STOP. The world ground to a halt, the fork pausing its fall a foot off the floor and the ambient sound I always heard from the street and nearby apartments ceased.
I reached out and snatched my utensil from the air and twirled it in my hand, a smile splitting my face as I unfreeze the world around me, I could get used to this.
Date: April 24, 2011
With my morning routine mostly finished up and my blinds thoroughly drawn and closed I began testing my power, though it was, if I'm being honest with myself, mostly just playing.
I had, after some trial and error, ruled out what I had originally thought my power was. I had originally thought I was moving fast, but after a closer examination it was more like the world was moving slow. The rest of the world wasn't stopping, the apple I was currently watching slowly fall to the floor was proof of that. But I didn't particularly mind that I couldn't stop time because this already seemed quite strong.
From the last half an hour of on and off use I figured out several very interesting things, one, I could adjust how slowed my surroundings became. I had been trying to stop everything up till now, so my power had been responding by slowing everything to its utmost, but that had the drawback of consuming more energy, leading to the headaches I had experienced yesterday when I overused it.
Focusing my mind for a moment I sped the world back up, the apple now falling at about half its normal rate as opposed to it inching through the air as it had done prior. Then with a kick I sent it flying across my apartment, followed by me switching it back to nearly motionlessness as I jogged over and plucked it from the air, the applications for my power swimming through my head as I went to repeat the process.
Sometime later and with the beginning of a headache starting to form I made another useful discovery. My phone worked at normal speed as long as I held it even when I had my power on full blast it still seemed to work fine, though all the Wi-Fi and cellular were unresponsive it didn't really matter to me, it was what it represented that piqued my interest. Would a gun be able to fire even in my time dilation? Sure, the bullet wouldn't travel far, assuming a gun could fire, but I could still fire it and move away.
My power was shaping up to be better than I could ever hope, if it wasn't for the time constraints on long periods of use it would be perfect. With a power this strong did I even need to join a team? I could probably go it alone, after all if I couldn't win a fight, I could probably just run from it. Grounding myself in reality before I started imaging world domination and harems of scantily clad women, I started going over the short list of constraints I had found in my testing.
First being that I could only keep my Slowing affect up for a minute at most without at least flipping it off for a few seconds to give my head a rest, the second being the slower I made the surrounding area the longer I had to wait between uses lest I give myself another head splitting migraine. And the third problem I noticed was that my fine control and the amount of effect I had on the surrounding area lessened as the overuse headaches re-manifested themselves.
I had a nagging feeling I could improve on those things, lessening my powers drawbacks through repeated use was just something I was almost sure I could do, and I'm equally unsure on how I know it.
Deciding to quit before I exhaust myself further, I return to my trusty recliner, flicking my old tv on with a press of a button as I recline my chair back, Surfing channels with one hand as I bring my apple shaped power practice aid to my mouth.
My teeth crunch through the only slightly bruised skin as I fill between channels. Weather? No. Football? Eh. Overused reality tv show? No thank you. Local news? What's the... Oh.
On the screen in front of me I could see a familiar five story brick building, two reporters standing in front of the video feed, A well-dressed middle aged man on the right and a young but certainly attractive woman on the left.
"What you're seeing here folks is the aftermath of yesterday's tragic battle, reports estimate over 80 casualties with more being reported almost every hour."
"That's right Jim." The female reporter cut in, sitting up marginally in her chair and clearing her throat. "At around 5:34 yesterday afternoon a confrontation erupted on 16th street, between Armsmaster, a local PRT cape and Hookwolf, a infamous member of one of the city's local… ahem 'gangs'. The situation escalated from there as their fight led to the collapse of the Johnson Resources firm pictured here. She took a pause, her co-host soon filling in the silence.
The green screen behind them played a short video of Armsmaster and Hookwolf fighting down the street and eventually into the office building when Armsmaster was propelled through what looked like the building's main entryway.
"Sadly, it appears that most workers were still in the building at the time of the attack, and we expect the fatalities to only increase as the scene is searched and excavated. Several videos from nearby bystanders show the two capes escaping the collapse, with the villain appearing to have escaped before further PRT reinforcements could arrive."
Video continues to play behind the duo, a familiar large metallic wolf making its way down the street going towards what looked like the commercial district.
"While unable to capture the escaping perpetrator, Armsmaster was able to save several people from the wreckage, a few minutes later Miss Militia arrived on the scene along with a dozen PRT troops securing the area and helping with civilian evacuation."
My eyes darted across the screen looking for even a glimpse of my face on any of the provided footage. I was drawn back to the reporting duo, a mention of a birdcage sentence or other forms of punishment for the involved villain being mentioned, mostly I paid attention to the video behind them, hoping beyond hope I wasn't in frame.
A few minutes later the program ended, and the tension bled out of me as I leaned back in my chair.
I was so caught up in my new superpowers that I had almost forgotten how I'd got them, and what would have happened if I was shown on camera using them. Luckily I didn't see myself in any shot, the collapsing buildings rubble and dust obscuring much of the footage's ground coverage. While it looked like my first tv cape appearance was luckily being put on hold I was still unsettled by the whole affair, mostly bothered by the fact that I'd gotten so caught up in my own power that I'd forgotten the world around me, a mistake I hoped to not replicate going forward.
With my earlier good mood substantially dampened I started to think about things I would need if I planned to join the cape scene, which I still certainly did. Possible tv appearances would be less of a problem once I had acquired a mask after all. I would need to get a costume put together and maybe pick up a few weapons or pieces of equipment that would aid me in whatever sort of cape work I decided to get myself into.
I left my apartment not long after, causally smiling and waving as one of my neighbors passed me in the hall, a young black woman probably in her early twenties with her arms full of brown paper bags, I think her name was Sarah though I wouldn't bet on it. While she did live right down the hall from me we had only spoken a handful of times at most, we honestly were barely acquainted but it never hurt to be friendly to a pretty face. She smiled back giving me a casual greeting as she walked past. I watched her arrive at her apartment, three doors down from mine, the number 121 adorning the door.
I was about to continue on my way when I was stopped by the sight that was unfolding in front of her door. Sarah was attempting to balance her large bag of what appeared to be groceries with one hand as she began to fumble with her door.
My eyes glanced down at her denim clad ass, and the long lithe legs that held it up, she certainly wasn't hard on the eyes. Her crop top clad chest suddenly bounced and I took in the situation that was unfolding. Her hand must have slipped as she had nearly dropped her grocery sack as she struggled to get her keys out of her tight pocket, cursing quietly under her breath as she continued to struggle. Well this was just pathetic.
I returned my attention back to more appropriate areas and cleared my throat as I moved forward to assist her.
"You need any help with that, Sarah?" I had to hope that I had her name right as I gave her my best smile.
She must have thought I had left after our prior greeting because hearing my voice led her to dropping the bag completely.
A minor flex of my power was all it took to let me catch the bag with hardly any exertion, slowing it by just enough that I could catch it without it looking suspicious.
"Let me hold that for you." Her momentary scare seemed to have passed and what must have been embarrassment took its place as her eyes met mine as she responded.
"Oh…. Ah Edward, thank you so much, that would be wonderful." I could tell she struggled a bit with my name, failing to hide that she'd probably forgotten it from the handful of times we had chatted, I made sure not to point that out, no need to fluster the woman further.
"It happens to everyone, lord knows how many times I've struggled with my door." A casual glance at her front revealed a small golden cross shaped necklace resting between her perky tits, religious was she? Well it wouldn't hurt to pretend, would it?
She had finally managed to retrieve her key while I held her groceries, unlocking the door without much fanfare and turning back to me to relieve me of my temporary burden. I handed them to her without much hassle, her hand lingering slightly on my own as she pulled the bag from my grip.
"That was so kind of you, I got your name right didn't I?" She smiled at me and leaned against her door, holding it open but not obviously in a hurry to leave.
"Got it in one, can't blame you for not being sure about it though, I haven't been the most neighborly, have I?" She was quick to respond
"No no, you've been fine. I've just had a busy couple of months with work, still I should have tried to talk to you more often, it's not everyday I meet someone so helpful in the bay." She had to adjust her arms under the sack she held, the weight probably not being the most comfortable thing to support for a more in-depth conversation.
"Well we should correct that mistake shouldn't we? Here let me give you my number so I can give you a call when I'm in less of a hurry, and when you don't have an arm full of groceries?" She gave me a grin as she told me her number, quickly entering it into my phone as I continued back on my way; while she was definitely worth the time I did still have stuff planned for the day after all. Time to collect some costume pieces.

Ding Ding
The shop's door rang once again as I exited through it, left hand now grasping the handles of a heavy plastic bag. A black motorcycle helmet with its dark tinted visor rested on top of the rest of the sport biking outfit. While I had first set out to find some sort of mask for my costume, I had soon come to realize that the only mask I was going to be able to easily get was an out of season Halloween mask. There's lots of indignities I would be willing to suffer to live out my cape fantasies, but wearing a rubber gorilla mask wasn't one of them.
While the helmet had cost a fair bit more than what I had been expecting to pay for a mask, it still wasn't my main expense, that was the padded outfit beneath it, where did that bitch off a store manager get off thinking that 650 dollars was a reasonable price for a full body suit of padded pleather? Sure, I bought it, but I didn't have to like it. While muttering curses about the falling value of the American dollar I made my way down to what I planned to be my last stop on this shopping trip, a small army navy store that would hopefully have more reasonable prices.
When the online description mentioned it was on 'the edge of the docks' I had hoped that meant it wouldn't be deep enough that I'd have to come near any ABB members, that was too much to ask wasn't it? I had been cutting through an alley, my phone having told me that it was the shortest route to the store.
"Watchaa doin in our territory whitey?"
I hadn't seen him till he was almost on top of me, a dumpster having blocked my view of the man. The man in question being of medium build, tattoos snaked up his neck from under his shirt, a look at his face showed me he was obviously asian. The red and green outfit he wore clearly marked what sort of organization he belonged to, his aggression towards me plain to see as he slowly approached.
"I was just going home." I figured if I could avoid unnecessary conflict in the middle of the day it would be for the best, but the angry chink seemed to have other ideas.
"Yeah goin home are yah? What have you got in that bag? Why don't you hand it over so I can have a look?" He was closing in on me as he spoke, and dug down in his pocket as if he was grasping onto something.
I wasnt a fucking idiot, the last thing id be doing was handing over my newly purchased gear to some upjumped gangbanger.
"I don't think that's a good idea, and now I'm pretty sure we are done here, isn't that right?" The ABB member, having now come within feet of me, had to look up to meet my eyes, the average built man coming up to my chin. From what I could tell with a glance the obvious height difference seemed to only make him angrier and I could tell he had come to the conclusion that I wasn't going to hand my bag over willingly.
His right hand, which had been in his pocket up till now was pulled free and along with it came a small switchblade, blade flicking opening as he brandished it at me as if it was some shocking trump card.
"You're going to hand me that bag white boy before I decide to yah regret coming to our area!" I simply raised my eyebrow at him, setting my bag down as he squared off against me.
If I had not triggered yesterday I probably would have handed the bag over by now, pride folding to preserve my own survival, after all a couple hundred bucks wasn't worth dying for, but now? I didnt fucking get powers only to cower before some squint eyed prick, I planned to go out on patrol latter, I wouldnt bother even thinking about doing that if I was afraid of some goon.
Activating my power and slowing the world around me to a hopefully not to noticeable degree, I swung my clinched fist forward, stepping into range of his knife long before he could react, planting my hand into his throat. I could feel something move in his neck upon impact, I figured that should probably be enough so I didn't bother throwing a second punch.
reverting the area around me back to normal I watched him with unsympathetic eyes as the knife fell from his hand, hands moving to clutch at his throat as he stumbled back letting out light gasps for air, obviously struggling to breath.
Thinking back I had honestly not been in that many fights, sure a couple highschool brawls and scraps, but never anything serious; my martial skill went about as far as knowing how to throw a nasty right hook, but that didn't seem to matter anymore because now I could just cheat. With the world moving so slowly it wasn't hard to aim for someone's neck, especially when you can catch them off guard with how fast you can move, though looking at the writhing man, I realized I might have made a mistake.
The muscled asians struggle was slowing, his legs now only lightly kicking as his face started to change color, hands which had been grasping at his neck starting to go limp. Shit.
I approached and bent over, with a closer look I was able to tell that I may have underestimated my own strength or more specifically the effect of my power on my own strength. His neck was dented in, The flesh around it already starting to change to a reddish tint. His eyes were now glossy staring ahead at nothing and his motions seemed to have stilled, I think I may have killed him.
It was with a sinking feeling that I looked side to side, confirming that I was indeed alone with my new problem. Luckily our altercation had occurred in a relatively long alley way, the dumpster and other rubbish giving a decent amount of cover from the more busy street I had crossed through here from. Another glance showed a lack of security cameras, the brick and concrete walls of the two buildings adorned in spray paint and nothing else.
My stomach felt a bit queasy but I think it was more an issue of stress than a crushing feeling of guilt. I tried to draw my mind away from introspection and to the present, the much more real problem of a dead gangster ranking higher on my own list of priorities than trying to figure out what I should feel about an accidental murder.
Grasping him by his feet I dragged him behind the dumpster, I then proceeded to frisk his pockets as I debated on what the fuck I needed to do.
I soon Found and emptied his wallet of its monetary contents, 300 dollars in only slightly stained bills coming away and into my pocket, I quickly moved on.
This needed to look like anything other than a cape murder, the last thing I needed was more attention being shown to new arrivals in the cape scene because they figured one of them had killed this ABB thug, they would be right, but I still would definitely prefer if they didn't know.
Hardening my heart I used a torn newspaper to hold the dead man's knife, winding it back and with a little bit of resistance stabbing it down into his chest. The wet noise was probably the worst part of the whole thing. Watching the blade I saw and felt that it had stopped part way in, hitting something hard I would guess it was a rib though I wasn't sure. I went for another stab, this time getting the knife to stay hilt deep, a bloody rose bloomed on his chest around the knife lodged in it. I stepped away figuring this was enough to hopefully make this not look like a cape killing. I wanted his cause of death to be a bit murkier; the knife would probably draw attention away from his wound throat at least that was what I was going for.
My stomach kept churning, the act of stabbing the corpse had definitely made me a bit queasy but I powered through, stamping that feeling down, I couldn't afford to vomit, not now.
To finish it off I dragged several nearby trash bags on top of the corpse, once again hoping to delay and obscure the discovery and investigation of the murder.
After checking to make sure none of his blood had gotten on my hands or clothing I picked up my bag and exited the alley, trying to be as casual about the whole affair as possible. Walking a few more hundred feet I let out a long sigh, my stomach may have settled back down but I was still worrying about the whole thing. It wouldn't be until I was shopping in the store that had gotten me into this whole mess that I was starting to actually calm down.
By now I was several blocks from the crime scene, and the body was hopefully hours from discovery; but still I worried, and I didn't think I'd stop worrying till I was back at my apartment with at least a couple miles between me and that damned alley.
Staring at the case full of large Combat knives I habitually scratched my chin, running my thumb along it and feeling the stubble there I realized I had forgotten to shave; that was probably the biggest travesty of the day. I nearly chuckled at my own unvoiced joke as I continued to view the knife case, it really had been a hell of a couple days, hadn't it? I needed to stay out of trouble… hell who was I kidding I should know that isn't possible, not with my luck.

I left ABB territory without any further problems, returning to my apartment with all of my cape shopping done, at least for now.
Arriving back in front of my building much more tired than when I left it I made my way inside. Deciding to take a short detour before I sequester myself back in my lair I go to check my mail. Fishing the key out of my pocket, I turn the lock, and hearing a click, blindly reach my hand in and feel around till I grasp its contents.
Two envelopes reveal themselves to my eyes, one, a bill, being immediately set to the side, while the other…. A silver and gold filigree covered rectangle stared back at me, A large cursive 'C' was embossed onto the front of the envelope in wax, acting as both an identification and a seal. I had never in all my life seen such a gaudy and almost blatantly pretentious letter, if I wasn't so baffled on why it had made its way into my mailbox I would almost be impressed.
Tucking both envelopes into my bag as I decided to figure out what was going on latter, I made my way up to my apartment, the minute long elevator ride was punctuated by the upbeat music playing through the crackly speaker, taking what could have been a pleasantly silent ride into just another annoyance. Getting off the elevator I made my way back to my door, the hallway was thankfully empty, I wasn't terribly in the mood for socializing and was honestly thankful for the reprieve.
I got the door open in one click and slipped inside, the day's events, which had been like an invisible weight on my shoulder lifting as I found myself back in what I considered safety. Returning to my oh so familiar recliner I sat down to think, casually running a pale hand through my short blonde locks as I finally relaxed.
I killed a man. It was as simple as that, and while unintentional and arguably in defense that gangster was still dead under a pile of garbage bags with his own knife lodged in his chest.
I continued to stroke my own hair, rubbing circles into the back of my head while still deep in thought, as weird as some might think I honestly wasn't that bothered by it. Id always assumed as most people do that taking another life would be hard, but the truth of it was it is incredibly easy. Stabbing him had been more upsetting than the murder in of itself, and the worry and panic about possibly being caught in the act had been the actual worst part of it.
I shook myself out of my stupor and, deciding not to dwell further on my accident, went over to my fridge to start making an early dinner. After all, I did plan to go on my first caped crusade tonight, didn't I?

I was just sitting down at my dining room table to eat the chicken topped salad I'd thrown together when my phone loudly dinged. I gave my phone which rested next to me on my table a glance, I shrugged and picked my fork up, deciding to Ignore it in favor of eating my food while my chicken was still warm.
Ding
I really should change my text alert to something less annoying, shouldn't I? I decided that my nice warm chicken would have to languish a little longer as I set my fork down and reached for my phone. Entering my pin with practiced ease, I looked at the text alert on the top of my screen. Little Sis was the label on the text messages. I smiled slightly as I opened my texting app, at least it was someone worth interrupting my dinner for
>'Big brother you haven't texted me in three days, are you alright? I thought you promised you'd always text at least once every couple days!'
>'Are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?'
I smiled as I read her texts, my sister sure was needy wasn't she? I'd only known her for about two years, she probably knew the exact date not that I'd ever asked, I wasn't willing to admit I forgot it would probably upset her. I had been so busy the last two days dealing with my new power that texting her had completely slipped my mind, it honestly made me feel a bit guilty, it seemed to be a power only she possessed.
>'Sorry Evelyn, I've been so busy with work lately that I forgot our promise. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?'
I was a little bit of a push over when it came to her, I'd always wanted a sibling and low and behold one came out of the woodwork to find me. A couple seconds after my text was sent I had already gotten a response, Evelyn's texting was quick as ever, though she claimed it was just because she was so excited to talk to me.
>'Eddie!!!! I thought you had grown tired of talking to me, is this a bad time, are you with someone right now,?'
>'No, I'm currently alone, it just took me a while to get to my phone.'
>'I'll believe you this time big brother, so did you get it?'
I stared at her message for a second, what did she mean, get it? I had a silent revelation as my eyes glanced over to the other side of the table, and the gaudy envelope resting on it, Ah.
>'would you happen to be referring to a gold and silver envelope?'
>'Of course, so are you coming?'
>'Well I haven't actually gotten the chance to read it yet, what even is it?'
>'It's an invitation to a party we are throwing at my house! You know I had to do a lot to get momma to put you on the guest list, so you have to come.'
>'Well I'm going to be pretty busy throughout this next week so I'll have to see if I can make it'
I knew I may have made a mistake when it took her several moments to respond.
>'Well luckily it's not happening till the fifth of may, so you will have plenty of time to clear your schedule. Besides you owe me, remember when you promised to take me out to the movies but couldn't make it. You told me that you'd make it up to me, and this is what I want, I haven't seen you in person since you took me to the zoo, I've missed you Eddie.'
This girl, I couldn't say no to her. How was I supposed to explain that I planned to spend the next few weeks working on my powers and caped persona? I couldn't, and no excuse I made was going to be good enough for Evelyn when she really wanted something, at least not when she wanted something when it was related to my time.
>'All right, I promise to come to your party, what's it about anyway, is it a family event or something?'
>'I'll leave that for you to find out when you read the invitation, I'll be getting out of your hair now, I can tell you are busy right now, your responses are shorter than they usually are, are you eating dinner? This is earlier than when you normally eat dinner.'
>'Yeah I was about to eat dinner when you texted, how did you know anyway?'
>'It's easier to get you to agree to things when you are waiting to eat food. Anyway, love you bunches ttyl Eddie ♥️♥️♥️'
>'Love you too Eve, you know sometimes you're too smart for your own good.'
>'I know you don't really mean that, you love me too much!'
>'Your right, but don't push your luck sis, or I'll have to punish you'
All I got in response was a thumbs up, this girl was actively trying to give me gray hairs.
Closing my phone and rubbing my face with my other hand I went about eating my now cold dinner, chewing as I thought over what she had just gotten me to agree to, what kind of house party had such a fancy invitation? My curiosity got the better of me, so setting my dinner aside once again I opened up the envelope that had been sitting across from me.
Pulling the card out of the envelope I read the big cursive script that ran across its top.
Edward Bell, You have been cordially invited to the annual Protectorate fundraising ball.
You have got to be shitting me.

Chapter 3: Capes, Helmets and Ice-cream
Chapter Text
Date, April 25, 2011
High up on the roof of some sort of office building I crouched, gazing over the side and down at the city below me. Pulling my glove up slightly I checked my watch.
12:58 am
Even with night setting in over the city it was still alive with activity, a smattering of people milling about on the sidewalk below with many cars still driving up and down the street.
I currently was overlooking the boardwalk, I figured it was a relatively safe option for a first patrol. The boardwalk area having record low crime rates due to the PRTs dedication to protecting it at the cost of the rest of the city meant I had little to really worry about, other than the PRT of course. The reason I was out so early into the night came gliding over head, scanning the street below and passing right over me, my black outfit color matching with the building's tar roof. In a sense I was hero watching, Attempting to track when certain heroes were patrolling near my apartment building, and so far I had actually had some success.
Glory girl turned with the street and continued on, her white dress illuminated by the city's many lights. I'd been following her for some time trying to see if there was some sort of rhyme or reason to her patrol, the answer? The girl was just wandering through the sky hoping to happen upon something interesting, kind of like I had been doing before I spotted her. Though I had actually gained some more useful information while I'd tailed her, first of all she never seemed to stray from the boardwalk area, skirting its edge but never venturing into any of the nearby gang territory that adjoined it, though, from my position on the ground I could clearly see her desire to do so, her eyes always searching for any excuse to venture in, but none ever revealed itself and she would move on. The second thing I noticed was her habit to check her phone every few minutes, as if she was worried about the time or waiting for someone to send her a response. It was hard to tell from 60 feet below her, and my helmet's slightly tinted visor certainly didn't help.
I was just debating calling an end to the nearly hour long stalking expedition I had been taking part in when something of real interest finally occurred, a loud female scream echoing through the night air. I froze and crouched down as Glory Girl spun in place, seeming to zero in on the sound's direction and she zipped off towards it, easily moving three or four times faster than she had been when she patrolled the streets.
I debated not following her, I really did, but the allure of finally seeing some action on my first day out won out over caution. I slowed the world down as I moved across the roof, making my way down to the slightly lower neighboring roof. I continued on repeating the process till I was closer to the screams origin, or at least I figured I was because I had just been following the white and gold streak that was Glory Girl. Once she had landed on the street and I was in no danger of being discovered I stuck my head over the side, reverting time back to its normal flow as I watched the action unfold down below.
A group of three black men surrounded a fat white woman, her torn purse clutched in the meaty hands of the largest of her would be robbers. I'd have to guess he was somewhere around my height or even a little taller, pushing the 6 foot 4 mark, though honestly it's a bit hard to guess heights from a three story buildings roof. The clothes the muggers wore had messy M's scrawled across their backs, lazy imitations of their gangs logo. What three Merchants were doing on the edge of the boardwalk area was a mystery to me, you'd have to be a complete idiot to try to mug someone here so early in the night when the city's young up and coming heroes were still out and about…. well they were Merchants, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
The portly older woman who they had been in the process of robbing was curled up on the ground, clutching her stomach in what appeared to be some measure of pain as she continued to wail for help, help which happened to be arriving at this very moment.
THUD
The noise of Glory Girls landing seemed to stun the Merchants out of their revelry, the three of them whipping around to stare at the heroine with a healthy measure of shock and fear.
"I HAVE ARRIVED, have no fear, for I have come to save the day, put your hands in the air and back away from the woman, no one needs to get hurt!"
She was cocky, that was my first impression of the caped crusader, who upon landing had puffed her chest out in pride instead of squaring off against her adversaries. It's one thing to read about someone's personality online and another to see it in person, that amount of pride would get a normal hero killed, luckily for her she was certainly not a normal hero.
BANG
The lead gangster seemed to have had a pistol tucked in his pants, for while Glory Girl was announcing her arrival he had drawn it and opened fire, the first bullet missed wide, the gangster for some reason trying to fire his gun sideways.
BANG BANG BANG
The next three shots were more accurate, one of them seeming to impact the heroine to little effect, flattening itself against the air in front of her falling harmlessly to the floor. The second bullet missed wide once again appearing to hit a parked car, making its alarm start blaring loudly in the distance. The final bullet tore a hole through her cape, and harmlessly flew on through.
I was probably as surprised as the thieves were when I saw how fast Glory Girl moved, body almost blurring as she flew forward, hand grasping the lead Merchants gun and with almost casual ease ripping it from his fingers and crushing it into a metal and plastic ball. She then grasped the lead merchant by his ratty shirt, lifting him up so that his eyes were even with her own while she floated in the air.
"Well that wasn't very smart, now was it?" The lead merchant thrashed to no avail, dropping the victim's purse in an attempt to break her grip shouting all sorts of slurs and curses while she held him in place, his companions showed their immense loyalty to the cause when they nearly instantly left him for dead.
"Fuck this shit man, she's a cape man I ain't fighten no cape man." The furthest back merchant immediately broke, dashing for a nearby alley to obviously try and slip away. The other merchant also began to run, dashing in the opposite direction.
The group's leader was forcefully tossed aside into a nearby wall, the loud impact making me think he'd probably have at least a broken rib or two from the throw. Chasing down and capturing the other two merchants took the caped crusader no more than a minute, neither of the thugs even managing to make it more than a hundred meters before they were caught.
I watched the whole scene unfold from my rooftop vantage point, even seeing the way Glory Girl switched from menacing the gangsters to comforting the obviously upset woman who kept wailing about how rough the perps had been with her and how they had ruined her designer purse. I cared less for the civilians' plight and more for how Glory Girl handled the whole scene. I was honestly impressed all things considered, while the girl was prideful she certainly knew her stuff, and she was Strong, I might be able to run from her but I doubted I'd be able to do much else, the long knife sheathed on the side of my thigh felt pretty inadequate when superpowered threats like her patrolled the streets.
As I watched her call the crime in to what I assumed was the PRT I decided that it was about time to make my exit, turning to make my way away from the edge of the roof I felt the back of my boot catch on the ledge I had been crouching on, creating a loud scuffing sound.
The hairs on my neck stood on end, and I heard a throat being cleared behind me. Slowly I turned around, hands held out in a non threatening gesture as I came helmet to face with the blonde superhero.
Date, April 25, 2011
"Ahem"
She cleared her throat again, arms crossed as she raised an unimpressed eyebrow while she gazed at my attire, obviously assuming I was some sort of villain, an assumption that I would prefer she didn't make.
"Oh ah, hey I was just passing through when I saw…."
"Cut the bullshit. Do you spend a lot of time up on roofs watching crimes? Maybe you commit some of the crimes? Why don't you try telling me the truth this time and I won't assume you're a gang member."
Something about her was scary but it came and went as if whatever was making me afraid was struggling to get through to me, definitely food for thought when I didn't have an angry blonde heroine staring me down.
"Look, I wasn't trying to do anything wrong, I was just passing through when I saw you apprehending them and thought I could pick up some tricks."
I paused and, seeing her motion her hand as if asking me to continue with my story, I did.
"I saw that you had the situation under control and decided to continue my.. patrol."
I could see I had more of her interest now, her eyes scanning my rudimentary cape costume and pausing on my sheathed knife before she returned her eyes to my face, seemingly having seen enough.
"New trigger?" Her eyes seemed to soften ever so slightly, having come to an actual correct conclusion.
"Yeah." My tired sigh wasn't even faked when I admitted that, it had been a hell of a couple of days and I had barely given myself the chance to rest. Something in me demanding action, that's the reason I couldn't just leave well enough alone and had to follow Glory Girl, because my brain couldn't fucking resist the excitement.
"Well based on your costume and the fact you're patrolling I'm going to assume you plan on being a cape, but what kind of cape are you?"
Well that's a loaded question to ask A guy you just met isn't it, I don't even know the answer to that question myself. But instead of saying that I just decided to play it safe, who knows it may be even a bit true.
"I plan to join the losing side, this city has enough villains as it is, and it's a bit too crowded on their team anyway."
That got a snort out of her, the last of her frown leaving her face as she floated to the ground in front of me, now not towering over me like an angry angel and instead just giving me a more thorough look over.
"I hope you know that your costume isn't the most… heroic, you're lucky I didn't just arrest you on general principle, all black really should be a crime." Now she got a snort out of me, at least the situation had deescalated.
"It's all I could put together, I don't have an awesome costume like you, but it's a work in progress." Flattery will get you far in life, don't let anyone tell you it won't. Seeing the smile that was growing on her face I could tell that it had been especially the right call in this case.
"I'm sure you'll get one one day, so what's your cape name? I can't just keep calling you biker in my head, otherwise I might just get used to it." She smiled even wider, giving me a wide grin like a cat that had gotten its way.
This girl, this girl for some reason really made my heart race, how her smile was so charming that it made me want to forget the danger that she could pose, those ruby lips were just so… I had to snap myself out of it, of all the times now was not it.
"I'm thinking of going with Blitz, it works well with my power." She seemed to mull it over in her head, I could immediately tell she wasn't a huge fan but she wasn't completely against it.
"You know that sounds kinda empire-ish don't you?" She gave me another of her raised brow looks, as if daring me to say that was my intention.
"It just felt right, the nazi's aren't on the top of my future employment list if that's what you're wondering." She barely paused for a moment before continuing.
"Oh and who is it you're thinking about joining? The Wards? I can tell you're at least pretty young, though you are quite tall, what do you eat, whole cows?"
"I was actually planning on staying unaligned, I'm not a huge team player and to be honest with you, the PRT doesn't seem like my kind of place."
"It's not safe to be a solo cape in this city, a team would help you." She seemed concerned, as if she had seen my type before, heroes who thought themselves invincible, while that wasn't really anything like me I'd let her believe what she wanted. Before I could answer she leaned a little closer, staring me down as she gave me an unimpressed look.
"You can hold your excuses Blitz, I know I won't convince you that easy, but even if you don't want to join the PRT you should at least come in for power testing and to get certified."
Hearing that I quickly shook my head, the very idea of turning myself in to be poked and prodded was both extremely unappealing and one hell of a privacy and safety concern.
"I'm sorry to be a dick about it but I really don't want to do that either."
"Look it's for your own good, I don't want to have to arrest you when you're out here fighting the good fight just because you refuse to register." I could tell she really meant well, but at the same time I knew she was not being fully honest.
"Glory Girl… I'm not stupid, I did my research, the PRT won't arrest an unregistered independent unless they commit a crime." I could tell that she was a bit embarrassed about being called out on her lie but she still persisted.
"Just because they won't arrest you for it doesn't make it not a crime, besides, once you're registered you'd have more legal protection, what happens if you accidentally injure a criminal? Without a license you can get into serious trouble." I could tell this girl was used to getting her way, and me telling her no just made her want to get me to agree even more. Sadly the approaching sirens of the PRT support she had called in was going to mean I'd have to cut this conversation short.
Smiling an unseen smile behind my helmet I tilted my head to the side. "Didn't they ever tell you that no means no, Vicky?" Using her real name may have been a bit of an overstep but she didn't seem to mind it, at least not that much.
She did frown at me, pouting her lips like a petulant child who just got told she wasn't going to get ice cream. I guess she could tell that the PRT sirens were making me flighty because she seemed to decide to give up on her push to make me register for now, instead reaching into a pocket on her outfit and pulling out a small piece of paper and a pen.
"I can tell you aren't going to be convinced, but, in case you change your mind or just need to talk, here's my number. Hero's need to stick together, even if you lone wolves think you're too cool for help."
"Thanks, I'll make sure to give you a call. You know they say to never meet your heroes but I'm pretty happy I met you, you're even more beautiful in person."
A light blush spread across her face, my compliment probably taking her by surprise. I smiled as I took the offered paper, giving her a quick goodbye wave and a promise to call as I went from zero to my full speed, enjoying the look of shock on her face as I Blitzed away.
I didn't know what to think about the whole encounter and as I eventually returned the world back to normal speed I went through the whole thing in my head, I then checked if there was anyone following me.
Seeing that it seemed to be clear I slowly made my way back to my apartment, changing into a stashed set of clothes I had hidden a couple blocks away as I thumbed the piece of paper in my pocket, thinking over my first cape appearance with a thoughtful look on my face, what a night.

While my impromptu introduction to Vicky had gone quite well, honestly better than I could have ever hoped, I was still pretty frazzled. Returning to my apartment at around 2 am saw me heading straight to bed, tosing my cape outfit in the closet and changing out of my civilian clothes felt like one of hercules's 12 labors and as soon as I was done I climbed into my bed falling asleep nearly as soon as my head touching the pillow.
Waking myself up with a cold shower certainly got me motivated, that early morning fugue state washing itself down my drain along with the previous night and day's grime. Toweling myself off and giving my sizable rod and tackle a gentle patdown I considered my plans for the day, an errant thought I'd had after my short text conversation with Evelyn sat at the forefront of my mind; if there was one person I could truly trust it would be her, wouldn't it? I'd only known her for two years but it already felt like a lifetime, and the idea of keeping such a monumental secret from her for an extended period of time just didn't sit right.
Hell, thinking about it more, with how observant that girl was I'd give it a few months before she would have worked out my second persona, that of Blitz, the caped…. mercenary? I still wasn't sure what I really wanted to do as a cape, all I knew was that I didn't like the idea of keeping Eve in the dark any longer than I had to and I figured today was as good a day as any to solve that problem.
My phone buzzed lightly as I selected Eve's name in my contacts and called her, it had to ring three times before it was answered, a groggy voice coming over the line.
"Hmm who ish it?" I must have woken her up, quickly glancing at my wall mounted clock I read the time.
10:47
I wasn't even that early, I knew I wasn't a morning person so I probably didn't have much room to talk but Eve liked sleeping in a bit too much for her own good, the whole day would pass her by and her lazy butt would still be in bed sleeping the day away. Though it did make sense, it being a Sunday morning I wouldn't be surprised if she was trying to maximize her sleep before the school week started anew.
Deciding to answer my sister before she fell back into the realm of dreams I lightly chuckled into the receiver.
"Wakey wakey Eve, sleep well?"
"Big Brother?" I could hear the questioning tone to her voice, as if wondering if she was dreaming the whole phone call up. I could also hear when my voice seemed to fully register with her because it went from a sleepy question to pure excitement.
"I slept great, how are you? Why are you calling so early, do you need something?" Her words flew out of my phone unbidden, as if each of her questions couldn't quite wait for their predecessor to leave her lips before they too joined the constant stream of inquisition.
"I see that someone is now awake, are you free later today, in maybe an hour?" I knew the answer before I asked the question but it was always good to be polite.
"OF COURSE! Do you want to go somewhere? What should I wear? Are we going somewhere dressy?"
"Eve slow down, and no we aren't going anywhere fancy, I was thinking about that ice cream I promised you a while back, want to go?" This girl's excitement was contagious and I couldn't fight the smile off my lips even if I wanted to.
"What do you think? Of course I want to go silly, I'll have my driver take me over to your apartment and then we can walk, or would you prefer if she drives us?" It was always a bit humiliating to have my little sister provide the transportation for our little outings, or as she liked to call them 'dates'.
"No, I think we can walk just fine from my place, it's only a few blocks away anyway."
"Okay, whatever you say Biggg~Brother." She also probably knew it wounded my pride when I had to have her driver drive us around but she still always offered, luxuriating in the opportunity to tease me, almost purring into the phone as she quickly said her goodbyes and hung up, telling me she needed time to get dressed. I could only hope that this trip went better than my last one, Eve was enough of a handful on her own, I'd probably be pretty overwhelmed even without yesterday's impromptu body disposal.
Date: April 25, 2011
I was waiting at my apartment building's door when her car pulled up, Sleek black profile standing out from the rest of the cities on average, more rundown vehicles. It probably also stood out because it was easily two cars long, the small limo taking up two spaces as it parked, the back most door being violently thrown open as soon as it was put in park.
My favorite blonde missile shot out towards me, uncaring about the other pedestrians as she wrapped her arms around me burrowing her head into my thin black sweater clad chest, the early morning chill immediately dispelled as I felt how warm her small body was. I think I could hear a muffled 'missed you' but it was honestly hard to tell with her face pressed so tightly against my chest.
"I missed you too Eve, but you know we just saw each other a week ago right?" Even as I said that my hands had reached up to embrace her, holding her against me as I enjoyed the hug, the only other person who ever hugged me like this was long gone, and I missed it, even if I wouldn't admit it outloud.
"Oh Eddie, I know you can't stand to be separated from me, even if you're too proud to admit it."
I released her from my arms as we separated, her left hand latching onto my right hand before I could move more than a foot away from her. Out of the corner of my eye I could see her make some gesture to her driver with her free hand as if dismissing the car, which did exactly that as it pulled off and left leaving my admittedly over dressed little sister dangling off my arm.
Eve had worn a high end designer jacket, along with a short skirt and a pair of leggings, it looked good on her, though I wasn't sure if that's something she'd want to hear me say so I decided to keep my observation to myself. As we walked towards the ice cream parlor she chatted away, telling me about how school had been going, how one of her friends, apparently named Vicky, a certain blonde cape came to my mind but I shook it off, had just broken up with her boyfriend for the sixth time this school year.
The conversation continued to wander from there, covering much of her recent in-school social life, which I was happy to hear was quite vibrant and healthy. Sometimes I worried that she was too lonely, her dependence on me had at first been greatly concerning but at this point I had figured out that it was more of an issue of a lack of close family and not her having a problem making friends.
We soon arrived at our destination, a small hole in the wall shop that sold what I considered to be the best ice cream in the whole city. The words 'Super scoops' adorned the outside of the building, their mascot being a small ice cream cone wearing a red cape. I was dragged through the door; Eve buffaloing into the building, even cutting past a pair of kids that looked like they were about to get in line, completely absorbed in our conversation. I couldn't help but lightly chuckle as I listened to her loudly complain about her algebra teachers needing to hand out homework, I never would get tired of spending time with her.
Date: April 25, 2011
The three groups in front of us were finally served and out of the way, I never was a fan of waiting in line, and neither was my sister; who seemed to be trying to glare a hole through a man who had taken a little too long to orders head.
"What would you folks like, I have a couples sale if you're interested." The shop's owner drew my eyes back to the front and I forced a smile as I realized that he had mistaken Eve's possessive grasp of my arm as us being a couple. I was just starting to puzzle together the words in my head to tell him that he was mistaken when my arms passenger cut in.
"Oh that sounds wonderful, we'd love to have one of those, isn't that right Eddie?" She gave me one of her patented looks, as if daring me to tell the cashier that we were in fact brother and sister but I simply nodded along, handing the man his 8 dollars as a triumphant Eve bounced on her heels in joy, I knew what battles were worth fighting and this certainly wasn't one of them.
"You know Eve, some people would think it was a bit inappropriate for us to pretend to date, what if we ran into one of your friends from school? I'm sure you wouldn't want them to think you were dating an older guy like me." She paused mid bounce, Vibrant green eyes gazing up into my own.
"Don't be silly Eddie, there isn't any situation where you could ever embarrass me, besides any girl would be lucky to have a boyfriend like you, why would I be embarrassed about that?" I was honestly flabbergasted, but as quickly as the serious look had come to her face it went, her eyes turning mirthful as she laughed.
Soon the man returned with our couples special, a large bowl with two spoons sticking out of a large mound of chocolate and sprinkle topped strawberry and vanilla ice cream. I scanned the room and picked out the corner most table, the shop empty enough that we wouldn't have to worry about anyone overhearing our conversation, perfect.
Date: April 25, 2011
"Say awwwww." The conversation had returned back to its regular flow for the last couple minutes, eve asking about how I'd been doing between bites of ice cream, but when I'd been a bit hesitant to answer when she asked me what the new 'job' I had mentioned over our texts yesterday she decided to get back at me. Leaning across the table towards me she held out her spoon, watching expectantly for me to eat the offered ice cream.
I held my mouth open and allowed her to spoon it in, tasting the delicious frozen treat as she smiled warmly at me, seeming to enjoy the light blush her behavior had managed to trigger in me. What she didn't know what that my blush had nothing to do with her attempts to embarrass me and everything to do with the fact that her tits were pushing against the table as she leaned forward, her jacket unzipped enough that I could see the deep neckline of the shirt she wore bellow it and the pillowy white flesh that was showing through it. When did she grow so….. womanly.
When I had first met her she was definitely not that endowed, I'd have guessed she was now a C cup, I snapped my self out of it, forcefully dragging my eyes back to the spoon she was bringing back towards my mouth, she was my fucking Sister, I obviously had a bit too much built up tension if I was perving on her.
"Feed me next Eddie, if you can't tell me about your work at least enjoy this icecream with me." My eyes snapped back to hers, clearing my throat as I immediately realized what she was doing.
"I'll tell you about it later, this just isn't a good time, I promise I'll tell you when we get back to my apartment, okay?" While that seemed to please her quite a bit she still crossed her arms and pretended to pout.
"I fed you, so you need to feed me, even if you aren't keeping secrets from me I still want to be fed." I sighed as I grabbed my spoon and slowly spooned some pink ice cream into her plump lip gloss coated lips, her pink tongue shooting out to meet the ice cream. I really needed to get my mind out of the gutter.
It was 20 minutes later when we left the parlor, Eve happily hanging off my side as we walked back to my apartment, the sweet taste still lingering in my mouth as I debated on how I was going to tell my sister about my powers.
Date: April 25, 2011
Leading my sister to my apartment was always a bit embarrassing for me, this girl had seen such luxury that when I had first met her I had feared she would look down on me. While I had been completely wrong in that misguided fear it still felt a bit awkward leading my practical princess of a sister down the building's dimly lit hallway, floors covered with carpets that had more stains on them than clear spots. Though a glance over at her showed me that my fears were as always misplaced when it came to Eve, her eyes met mine with a smile of pure joy, obviously happy to accompany me no matter how lower class her surroundings were.
"Eddie isn't that your room?" I had nearly walked past my own door in thought, shaking my head. I went to fiddle with my lock as I responded to her.
"Yes, indeed it is, I was lost in thought there." With a click my door opened and I gave her an exaggerated gesture to enter, holding the door open for her with my other hand. She giggled at my theatrics and walked on in, almost skipping through the door as I followed in after taking my time to make sure it was shut and locked.
"So what is it you want to do, would you like to try those 'video games' again? I know I wasn't very good at them but I'm sure I'll get better." I recalled the memory of Evelyn driving her car into the wall when we were trying out a racing game, and the way she had shouted abuses at the screen, as if the car's virtual driver was at fault for her crashing. I didn't think that was a good idea; and even if I hadn't been planning on sharing my deepest secrets with her after I had her settled in I still would prefer to not repeat my previous mistake of handing her a controller.
"No I was thinking about eating in, you did enjoy my cooking last time didn't you?" She immediately perked up, obviously not opposed to the idea.
"I would love to! Can I help cook this time?" she bounced over to my kitchen not even waiting for an answer before she went to where she knew I kept my aprons and went to my bathroom to put on the one I had specifically purchased for our collective culinary adventures. I went about getting our lunches ingredients out, just fishing a dozen eggs out of my fridge when she made her triumphant return, skipping back into the room with a smile on her face.
"So what are we making big brother?"
"Omelets sounded good to me, would that be alright with you Eve?" She nodded her head in affirmation, helping me crack the eggs open as we got to work.
—————-
"So what's on your mind Eddie? I can tell something's been bothering you." I had just pulled the second omelet off the skillet, its edges just slightly over done when I heard her question.
"Why don't we sit down and eat first, the food is hot after all."
I knew She could tell that I was nervous about something but she didn't press me on the issue, simply smiling and nodding along as I plated our food and carried it to my small kitchen table, sliding the invitation that had sat there since the day before to the side, making room for my plate as I debated on how to tell her.
Seeing my turmoil Eve decided to come to my rescue, sliding her soft hand over mine and giving me a reassuring squeeze as her green eyes met my blue ones.
"You know you can trust me with anything right?" Her voice was softer than it normally was, but it was still firm, and her eyes said more than her lips. I gave her a wane smile as my thumb stroked her hand and I began my tale of how I had triggered, and everything that followed. Her eyes never left my own, though I could see by the way she tensed her shoulders when I spoke of my near death experience that she wasn't happy to hear about it, grasping my hand harder as my story continued on.
I hesitated when I got to the part where I had accidentally killed the ABB gang member, wondering if she really needed to know about my possibly worst mistake, but seeing the look of pure adoration in her eyes I knew I couldn't keep anything from her. I watched her closely as I told her about the killing, from what I could read from her body language she seemed more worried about my escape from the crime scene than she was about the accidental killing in general. I soon finished my tale out, finally telling her about my meeting with Glory Girl, which she seemed extra interested in; not that the rest of my story hadn't had her rapt attention but the way she twirled a finger through her blonde hair in thought as I told her about Glory Girl giving me her phone number certainly was curious.
When I had finished talking she stood from the table, making her way to me to give me a tear filled hug, though the tears were not just her own.
"I'm so happy you decided to tell me." Her smile was dazzling if not a bit strained, the part where I told her about my near death had certainly shook her up.
"I couldn't keep a secret from you even if I wanted to, and even if I could I didn't have the heart to do it." She let out a quiet laugh as she lightly punched my shoulder.
"And your secret is safe with me, I hope you know that I'd never put you in any form of danger, big brother." I could tell she really meant it, though I already knew that, if there was one person that would never betray my trust it was my precious Eve.

We had eventually finished the by then cold omelets, with Evelyn asking me questions about my power that I was more than happy to answer. She had also advised me to buy a second phone for my cape identity, which I was honestly ashamed of not having already done.
"You know the Vicky I'm friends with at school is Vicky Dallon right?" That certainly gave me a bit of a shock, my right leg bumping into the table in shock.
"Really?" She nodded as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"It's good she didn't hurt you or I'd have had to give her a piece of my mind." I shook my head at her antics, her tears from our earlier conversation long gone as I discussed my cape plans with her.
She had been even more fascinated when I showed her my power, using my speed to blur around the room as she clapped her hands in joy. We were now settled down on my couch, which sat near my favorite recliner. She had leaned her head on my shoulder as we continued to chat, my hands idly playing with silky soft hair.
"You know it's not really her fault, I was lurking around on the roof, it is fair to be a bit suspicious of a roof lurking cape." She scoffed at my reasoning, leaning her head further into me, the scent of her berry shampoo filling my nose as I continued to stroke her head.
"I don't care if it makes sense, I still wouldn't forgive anyone if they hurt you, which includes you Eddie, if you want to play cape that's fine but I need you to come back to me, okay?" I gave her a gentle smile as I pulled her up into my lap, wrapping her in a hug.
"I promise I'll always come back to you Eve, you don't need to worry about me." She smiled a sly grin back at me.
"That's Why I worry." Then she darted her head forward, moving towards me with her lips puckered as if to kiss me on the cheek.

Eve kissed me.
We had stared into each other's eyes for a few moments, and she had leaned forward, glossy pink lips puckered to kiss my cheek, or that's what I had assumed.
Our lips met in a wet embrace, my eyes frozen in shock as she continued the kiss for a moment longer, and then that moment became two and then three. She tasted of strawberries, my mind Idly noted as her tongue tentatively pushed against my teeth, which I opened to allow her entry. Her tongue was needy, slowly but deliberately snaking its way through my mouth, her eyes were locked with mine, her love for me evident in her gaze.
By then I started to reciprocate, a hunger I didn't know I had being satiated as I tasted my little sister's mouth, my tongue meeting her tongue in a sloppy entanglement, god this was wrong. My cock throbbed painfully as she let out a muffled moan into my mouth, her hands clinging to my body as if afraid I'd fly away.
Then as abruptly as it started it stopped, a thin string of saliva breaking between our mouths as she pulled back, a rosy blush spreading across her cheeks.
"I... Eve…"
"Shhhh." She shushed me with a well manicured figure, holding it against my freshly kissed lips as her eyes refused to meet my own.
"I love you Edward, more than you'll ever know, I'm sorry for doing that, I know I shouldn't have but I just couldn't help it, when I heard you had almost died…"
"I love you to Eve, and like I said I won't leave you alone, I promise, but you can't….. you shouldn't...." I couldn't bring myself to say what needed to be said, my words failing me as I thought about the kiss we just shared.
"I know we shouldn't, Edward, I know but sometimes it's hard to keep telling myself that when I'm near you." Was she saying what I think she's saying?
"Eve…. I don't know what to say." She shook her head moving away from me and towards my bathroom with a small smile.
"Then don't say anything right now, think about it and give me an answer when you're ready, no matter what I'll love you, okay?" I simply nodded along, I didn't know what to think, and my slightly hard cock certainly wasn't helping.
She left my apartment a few minutes later, giving me a quick hug before she skipped away down the apartment's hallway, obviously not unhappy with the day's events. My hand rubbed my face as I shut my door, wondering what to make of Eve's…. attentions.
