The reason Black Superman was so confident was simple: just look at how Deadpool had been created.

That alone proved the method was feasible.

The organization responsible for creating Deadpool had already come very close to the correct answer. The problem was that their success rate still depended heavily on luck.

Furthermore, their so-called external stimulation methods were extraordinarily inhumane.

As a result, they often relied on mind control or implanted electronic chips in subjects' brains to forcibly regulate behavior, preventing newly awakened mutants from turning on their employers instead of becoming marketable assets.

Drawing upon the Kree research into the creation of the Inhumans, Black Superman didn't possess an actual Terrigen Crystal sample.

However, the research reports contained the crystal's molecular formula.

That meant the first hurdle had already been cleared.

The next task was identifying an appropriate stimulation method.

For Magneto, that part was almost effortless.

His control over magnetic fields allowed him to push ordinary humans into a state where their X-Gene activation process could begin.

The analogy was simple:

A normal human was a car.

The X-Gene activation compound was gasoline.

Magneto's magnetic-field manipulation was slamming the accelerator to the floor.

Once the tank was full and the pedal pressed down, the car would inevitably move forward.

There was no second outcome.

Black Superman's role was simply to ensure that the car drove straight down the road rather than accelerating directly into a telephone pole or concrete wall.

In practical terms, that meant verifying that the Kree-derived data remained applicable to modern humans, that it wouldn't trigger genetic collapse, and that the activation compound would still function in ordinary humans who lacked the Kree genetic modifications found in Inhumans.

With that established, the first real objective became clear:

Synthesize the X-Gene activation compound.

Interestingly enough, both the mutant project and his Alzheimer's research had ultimately led Black Superman to answers hidden within Kree technology.

The problem was that neither solution could simply be copied and pasted.

He still had to discover the synthesis process himself—or build the machine capable of producing the results.

Naturally, Black Superman didn't reveal all of this.

Instead, he selectively disclosed only the beginning of the process.

If he simply presented the final answer from the start, people probably wouldn't be pleased.

They'd be terrified.

The actual lecture proceeded almost exactly as he had predicted.

At first, nearly every mutant stationed at the base showed up.

By the third minute of the presentation, people had already begun leaving.

By the time he finished, only a handful remained.

Magneto was one of them.

Still seated, he gripped the documents in his hand with an ugly expression and stared directly at Black Superman.

The look was unsettling enough that even a Kryptonian felt a faint chill.

"Is there a problem?" Black Superman asked. "Just say it. That expression makes it look like you want to bite me in half."

Magneto asked bluntly:

"Where did these materials come from?"

Immediately, Black Superman understood the issue.

Magneto had probably assumed he had acquired the information through cooperation with mutant research organizations—or through some other questionable connection.

Had he obtained the data through unsavory means?

Was he involved in some scheme targeting mutants?

While Black Superman was still considering how to explain himself, someone else in the room spoke up.

"These are materials related to the Inhumans, aren't they? Not mutants."

Black Superman turned toward the speaker.

It was a strikingly beautiful woman with long straight black hair and a provocative outfit.

When she noticed his gaze, she smiled brightly.

"Joker Superman, long time no see. This is our second meeting."

She looked him up and down.

"If Magneto hadn't told me, I never would've recognized you. Though your appearance has changed again. That braided beard—is that supposed to be a Viking look?"

Hearing the old nickname, Black Superman finally remembered their first encounter.

Selene Gallio.

One of the assistants Magneto had brought from Genosha to America during the Dibari invasion.

Back then, she had worn a buzz cut and looked almost like a tomboy.

She fought with daggers and possessed psychic abilities powerful enough to interfere with Professor X.

Compared to her current appearance, she looked like an entirely different person.

Judging solely from that tomboyish image, most people would have mistaken her for a minor supporting character.

But anyone personally selected by Magneto to accompany him in a crisis was never weak.

In truth, Selene was an extraordinarily powerful sorceress.

Her origins were unknown, but records of her existence dated back seventeen thousand years to Central Europe.

She was also the earliest mutant known to history whose existence could be precisely dated.

Over countless millennia, she had not only refined her mutant powers but also accumulated immense occult knowledge.

Her magical abilities were exceptional.

She had even been considered one of the strongest candidates for the title of Sorcerer Supreme and had earned recognition from the Eye of Agamotto itself.

She also possessed a famous title:

The Black Priestess.

Within the Hellfire Club, she had once held the rank of Black Queen.

That position alone was enough to demonstrate her status among mutant elites.

Strictly speaking, however, this wasn't their second meeting.

It was their third.

During the Sentinel War that most people had forgotten, she had been one of the sorcerers recruited by the Sorcerer Supreme as reinforcements.

At the time, Black Superman hadn't connected her with the buzz-cut tomboy he had met previously.

Nor had he exchanged greetings with her.

Since she clearly didn't remember that encounter either, there was no reason to bring it up now.

Since she had greeted him first, Black Superman put on a look of realization.

"Selene. It's you. Long time no see."

He smiled.

"You're much prettier now than the last time we met.

"And you seem different too."

It wasn't just the long hair.

Her entire demeanor had changed.

The elegant dress emphasizing her figure, along with the coral necklace and ruby pendant around her neck, drew immediate attention.

The straightforward compliment earned him a smile.

Selene explained:

"When we last met, I happened to be in a low period for my powers.

"And there were certain restrictions that weren't easy to disobey.

"So I seemed rather ordinary.

"But now..."

She gave him a flirtatious wink.

"Whatever you'd like to do, I'm willing to cooperate."

Was she referring to the magical restrictions placed on Kryptonians by the Sorcerer Supreme?

That was something Henry had learned from Wanda.

Judging by Selene's words, those restrictions had apparently been lifted.

Unwilling to engage with her flirtation, Henry chose to play dumb.

"You know about the Inhumans?"

Selene nodded.

"My life has been very long. I know far more things than you imagine."

She tapped the documents.

"These materials came from the Kree, didn't they?"

Then she added for Magneto's benefit:

"Oh, the Kree are an alien species."

Black Superman admitted it openly.

"That's right.

"In 1995, I got caught up in a conflict between the Kree and the Skrulls here on Earth.

"These materials were part of the compensation I received for my losses."

In doing so, he was effectively admitting that he had obtained Kree scientific research.

But among mutants—people who generally trusted extraordinary abilities more than technology—very few would care.

Selene chuckled.

"Mmhmm. Compensation for your losses."

She raised an eyebrow.

"I won't ask whether they agreed to that compensation."

Naturally, she also refrained from asking whether he possessed additional Kree data.

She remembered Joker Superman's combat ability very well.

There was no point offending someone like that over information she couldn't personally use anyway.

Black Superman responded with a sly grin that communicated everything without saying anything.

The exchange between him and Selene visibly eased Magneto's expression.

After all, as long as the research hadn't been obtained through the suffering of fellow mutants, he had little reason to object.
