Chapter 299: Are You Threatening Us?
Chaotic Demon Sea – Skywind Region.
A massive island floated like a continental plate above the ocean's surface. Lush forests sprawled across its landmass, and deep within, the fierce roars of savage beasts echoed intermittently.
Along a narrow forest path, a caravan moved slowly in procession.
At the head of the group walked a cold and stunning young woman dressed in a pale white dress.
"Stop. Stay alert!"
Suddenly, the woman's steps paused slightly as she gave a low command, her eyes lifting to the sky ahead.
"Sister Gu Yan, what's wrong?"
A curvy, red-dressed woman beside her asked in a quiet voice.
Just then, many in the caravan noticed that the space ahead had started to ripple, quickly forming into a spatial vortex.
Two figures stepped out from the vortex.
"Finally out... Damn, space transfer still sucks,"
Lin Fan exhaled the fresh air and stretched lazily.
Although nothing had interrupted their journey, five days of space transfer still left a strong sense of discomfort.
"So this is the Skywind Region?"
Lin Dong hovered in midair, scanning the surroundings and taking in the salty ocean breeze.
Naturally, the two figures were Lin Fan and Lin Dong, who had just arrived via the spatial array.
"Looks like there are people down there. Let's just ask them."
Lin Fan smiled, descending toward the caravan. Lin Dong followed close behind.
The caravan tensed as the two descended.
"I am Lin Fan, and this is my brother Lin Dong. We've come from the Eastern Xuan Region. Could you tell us where we are?"
He spoke politely, ignoring their wary expressions.
After a brief pause, the white-dressed woman responded,
"This is the Skywind Region, Xuanling Island."
"Xuanling Island? Thank you, miss,"
Lin Fan nodded calmly, showing no change in expression.
"We won't delay your journey. Please, go ahead."
He and Lin Dong stepped aside to clear the path.
As they moved, Lin Fan's eyes flickered upward—on a hill not far ahead, a large group of armed individuals stood watching them intently.
"It's the Wei Clan! They actually came too!"
Whispers of unease passed through the caravan.
So… the Wei Clan had arrived on Xuanling Island as well. What timing.
At the front of the group stood a man in green robes. His eyes were sunken, and though his face wore a smile, it carried a chilling undertone.
"Well, well… what a coincidence, meeting Miss Gu Yan here,"
he said with a grin.
Gu Yan's expression remained calm.
"Wei Song, the Wei Clan sure has sharp ears. You got here fast. But that Life-Origin Spirit Fruit? The Gu Clan won't hand it over."
"To the point, as always. Then we'll let our skills decide,"
Wei Song replied, his tiger-in-sheep's-clothing demeanor unwavering. Then, his gaze shifted toward Lin Fan and Lin Dong.
"You two, are you hired helpers for the Gu Clan?"
he asked with a sneer.
"Some matters aren't meant for outsiders. Don't get greedy over a bit of profit and end up losing your lives."
Lin Fan raised an eyebrow.
"Are you threatening us?"
"Just speaking the truth. Not a threat,"
Wei Song smiled,
"We don't know you, and I assume we have no bad blood. If you walk away now, I can still treat you as friends."
"To friends, the Wei Clan is generous. But to enemies…"
his smile turned sharp,
"They tend to lose sleep… permanently."
"I see."
Lin Fan smiled faintly.
"Well, if destroying the Wei Clan guarantees me a good night's sleep—then I guess I'll have to go ahead and wipe it out."
Silence.
Everyone—Gu Clan and Wei Clan alike—was stunned.
No one expected Lin Fan to respond like that.
In the Skywind Region, powerful forces abounded.
The most famous were the Two Great Sects—Evil Wind Cave and Heaven-Earth Cave.
Then came the Five Great Clans: Gu, Wei, Su, Zhu, and Shentu.
The Wei Clan, one of the Five, had several Death Profound Stage experts.
Even among powerhouses, no one dared take them lightly.
And Lin Fan… just threatened to wipe them out.
"Heh… I've never met someone so arrogant in my life."
Wei Song bared his teeth in a smile filled with murderous intent.
Then he looked toward Gu Yan.
"So, is this the Gu Clan's position as well?"
Gu Yan replied indifferently,
"These two are not affiliated with the Gu Clan. Whatever happens between you is your business."
She gestured, signaling her people to step aside.
Wei Song looked surprised, then turned his cold gaze back to Lin Fan.
"So no one's backing you… good. Don't blame the Wei Clan for being ruthless."
A long spear materialized in his hand.
"Don't underestimate him,"
a voice warned from behind—spoken by a figure completely shrouded in a black robe.
Lin Fan glanced over, sensing a strong spiritual energy fluctuation.
That must be the lesser Symbol Grandmaster the Wei Clan had hired from Evil Wind Cave.
Wei Song frowned.
"Then shall we strike together, Brother Xu?"
"He's mine. You handle the other one."
the black-robed man replied coolly, lifting his head to reveal a pale, sinister face.
"Fine."
Wei Song nodded and turned his attention to Lin Dong.
"Blame your companion for being too arrogant!"
With that, he lunged forward, spear in hand, launching a ferocious assault at Lin Dong.
At the same time, the black-robed figure's cloak whipped in the wind as a surge of immense spiritual energy burst from his body.
Hurricanes formed around him as his presence shook the forest, sending chills down everyone's spine.
