Chapter 388 - Chapter 388: Another Form of GN Particle Enhancement

The divine-like appearance of the Joyeuse Gundam at this moment filled the surrounding Earth Federation soldiers—who had gathered earlier but were forced to observe due to Hoshino Ruri's warning—with awe. Even many high-ranking A-Laws officials below began to reconsider provoking SDP in the future, fearing they might truly incur "divine punishment."

However, Reid himself had no idea what extraordinary phenomenon he had just unleashed.

For Reid, he heard Liuli's warning to Ange over the squad comms and immediately saw the fully charged Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon firing at the Ice Phoenix Gundam.

No one understood the low temperature tolerance of the Ice Phoenix Gundam's armor better than Reid, its creator. Although the GN Particle Armor's built-in GN Field could somewhat resist ultra-low temperature erosion, it would last less than half a second against a beam that could nearly halt particle motion. If hit directly, the Ice Phoenix Gundam would instantly freeze and shatter into pieces.

Reid instantly concluded that unless Ange mastered particle dispersion immediately, she faced certain death.

This realization sent Reid into a frenzy. The outburst of Newtype emotions caused his Psychic Power to surge, and his mind began racing at incredible speeds.

At this moment, everything around Reid seemed frozen in time—only his thoughts remained active.

The only solution Reid could conceive was to pilot the Joyeuse Gundam in front of the Ice Phoenix Gundam before the beam struck, activating the Super GN Particle Sword in Trans-Am state to unleash a Beam Saber that would neutralize the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon through particle collision.

From a purely logical standpoint, however, the Joyeuse Gundam couldn't possibly outpace a beam. There was no way to intercept it before it reached the Ice Phoenix Gundam.

Yet Reid's emotions for Ange overrode all rationality. Before fully processing the solution, his brain bypassed logical deliberation and sprang into action.

The skills "Red Comet" and "Star Inheritor" activated simultaneously.

Thanks to the ultra-high feedback speed of the latest Psycommu System, Reid triggered the Trans-Am System with a single thought.

Then, only one idea consumed his mind: Charge! Charge! Charge! Intercept the white beam of the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon before it reached the Ice Phoenix Gundam.

From a third-party perspective, the GN Particles emitted by the Joyeuse Gundam's thrusters instantly turned gold before the Mobile Suit vanished from its original position and materialized directly in front of the Ice Phoenix Gundam.

Meanwhile, the Aurora Goddess' Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon beam had just left its barrel.

Unbeknownst to Reid, he had inadvertently triggered another form of GN Particle miracle.

Reid was not an Innovator—whether Newtypes could become Innovators remained unknown, and the term "Innovator" had never appeared in his skill roster. But it was a fundamental property of GN Particles to amplify their output when pilots experienced intense emotions.

Innovators, when paired with the Twin Drive System, can infinitely refine GN Particles based on their ability strength. These GN Particles can trigger miraculous self-healing, greatly expand human consciousness, or amplify the psychic power of Innovators.

However, Reid's current situation is clearly different from that of Innovators. The Newtype's psychic power has a vast range—the lower limit might only be slightly stronger than an ordinary person's, while the upper limit can achieve immortality of the soul even after death.

Reid's psychic power is clearly among the highest tier of Newtypes. Even if you brought Setsuna from before he communicated with the ELS in the movie, without GN Particle amplification, his psychic power would likely still fall short of Reid's current intensity.

Coupled with the Star Inheritor skill capturing and amplifying the psychic power of everyone around him, Reid's psychic strength has reached a level capable of triggering Minovsky Particle miracles. His current mental intensity is at least on par with when Kamille gathered the souls of the entire Gryps War battlefield.

But the Joyeuse Gundam doesn't use a Minovsky Particle Fusion Reactor—it only has GN Particles.

Naturally, these GN Particles would be amplified by this terrifying psychic power.

If GN Particles refined by Innovators change from pale green to cyan with rainbow highlights,

Then GN Particles forcibly amplified by a Newtype's powerful psychic power become pure green without rainbows. And as widely known, when Newtype abilities erupt to a certain level, a red halo appears around the Mobile Suit, with color depth proportional to psychic intensity.

Now with both factors combined, the GN Particles have been dyed golden yellow.

With the enhanced GN Particles, quantumization was naturally triggered. Combined with Reid's single-minded focus on reaching the Ice Phoenix Gundam at maximum speed, quantum teleportation automatically activated.

Thus, Reid's frequent complaints about golden Mobile Suits being suicide on the battlefield came back to haunt him like a boomerang.

Though Reid's mind remained in a dazed state, solely focused on pushing back the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon's beam, he didn't realize his Mobile Suit was now gleaming gold.

In fact, Reid had already succeeded in countering the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon's beam. As spectators watched with god-like awe, more psychic power was absorbed through their thoughts by the Star Inheritor skill and amplified for Reid.

Although the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon was unreasonable black technology, Reid's current state was clearly even more unreasonable.

Thus, the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon's beam began being pushed back at a visibly accelerating rate.

Ultimately, the golden GN Particle Beam fired by Joyeuse Gundam not only reversed the Type-N Cold Line Destruction Cannon's beam but completely vaporized the Aurora Goddess on the spot.

Moreover, the golden beam shot through the atmosphere straight into deep space, visible even to lunar research station personnel with naked eyes.

With the Aurora Goddess evaporated and the threat eliminated, Reid finally began to regain his composure.

Of course, Reid was probably the only one recovering at the scene—even the frenzied dragons were staring dumbfounded at the sky where clouds had been pierced.

But the most stunned was undoubtedly Nein behind Reid.

As a super artificial intelligence whose every component represented black technology, Nein felt her systems approaching crash.

Too much had happened in that brief moment.

Nein stated that she had no idea how her main body had teleported over (the 99 System resides in whichever Mobile Suit it inhabits, making that unit Nein's main body).

As for the Mobile Suit suddenly erupting with incomprehensible energy, Nein called it cheating—no Mobile Suit system could remain completely unchanged while particle energy multiplied exponentially out of thin air.

In reality, Reid's first two uses of the Star Inheritor skill had been with the Hermes Zero. Since this unit was produced earlier and couldn't carry Nein, she had been unable to observe the miracle up close both times. She had always assumed the Hermes Zero possessed some secret weapon.

Thus, this third miracle nearly fried Nein's system circuits, leaving her stunned inside the Mobile Suit.

Fortunately, Reid regained his senses and deactivated the skill immediately.

The Star Inheritor skill placed tremendous strain on Reid's body without a massive influx of voluntary mental energy from others. Prolonged use risked causing immediate unconsciousness upon deactivation.

Just like now—the moment Reid turned off the skill, the sudden drop in mental intensity left him feeling utterly drained, as if he hadn't slept properly for three days and nights.

Simultaneously, after the miracle's enhancement faded, the Joyeuse Gundam's arms triggered red alerts despite nanomachine repairs.

From an external third-party perspective, arcs of electricity now crackled around the Joyeuse Gundam's arms, appearing ready to explode at any moment.

Evidently, this burst of power had caused extensive damage to internal components in the arms holding the Beam Destroyer Sword, severely compromising circuitry. Until nanomachines completed repairs, the Joyeuse Gundam's arm mobility would likely rival that of a Guntank.

The Mobile Suit's red alerts finally snapped Nein back from the verge of system crash induced by her confusion.

Though Nein often teased Reid with sharp remarks, she deeply cared for him as her master.

Thus, she now spoke in an unyielding tone:

"Reid, the Joyeuse Gundam's arms have sustained severe damage. Your mental energy shows clear signs of depletion. We must return to the ship immediately."

Reid objected—the battle outside wasn't over, and he'd just pulled off an impressive move. Withdrawing now would render that effort wasted. He opened his mouth to argue, for a man might forsake anything but his dignity and pride in combat.

But Nein, familiar with Reid's temperament, had deliberately opened a private channel to the Ice Phoenix Gundam during their conversation.

Before Reid could speak, Ange—still shaken inside the Ice Phoenix Gundam—snapped back to attention and declared:

"Nein, don't ask Reid. Get him back to the ship and strap him into a Medical Pod."

Reid hurriedly tried to protest, "Wait, Ange, don't listen—"

But Ange cut him off again, her voice trembling with emotion:

"I don't care. No explanations. If you get hurt in later battles because you took that hit for me... I'd never forgive myself."

Hearing this, Reid swallowed all his prepared arguments and finally conceded weakly:

"Fine. I'll leave the battlefield to you. I'll rest on the ship first. Nein, let's go."

No sooner had Reid spoken than Nein piloted the Mobile Suit toward the Gran Chaos without waiting for his manual control.

Of course, the dragon swarm wouldn't let Reid return to the ship so easily.

After regaining their senses, those Dragons and smaller drakes charged madly toward the Joyeuse Gundam, while the five dusk-armored machines also abandoned their original opponents to surround Reid.

However, the Joyeuse Gundam wasn't as vulnerable as it appeared - the Sword Saint System remained fully intact, and its two GN Buster Swords rendered all smaller drakes completely harmless.

As for the Dragons, they first had to face Ange in her enraged state.

The reason Joyeuse Gundam ended up in this condition was precisely because it had taken that blast for her.

Ange now deeply regretted using her sword for the final blow against Villkiss earlier, when simply deploying Funnel Blades could have easily resolved the situation.

If she hadn't used her super GN Beam Saber for that stab, she wouldn't have been forced to tank that sneak attack head-on.

Thus, the Dragons now attempting to swarm the Joyeuse Gundam became Ange's venting targets.

Although the Ice Phoenix Gundam was in its post-Trans-Am performance decline phase, it was more than sufficient to handle these Dragons that Ange knew inside out.

Having learned from her recent mistake, Ange abandoned the Ship-Slicing Sword that might get stuck in flesh, switching directly to her Magnum Beam Rifle.

Ange understood perfectly that while the Dragons' Magical Shields could block anything, they had their limits.

If continuously depleted, these shields would eventually fail to stop even ordinary Paramail machine guns.

Moreover, these magical shields weren't 360-degree coverage - only the surface the Dragon actively maintained provided protection.

With the Magnum Beam Rifle's power, breaking through a shield in one shot wasn't difficult, and even against more magically potent Dragons, two shots would surely shatter it.

Once the Magical Shield broke, these Dragons became nothing but thick-skinned meat buns to Ange.

The Dragons' bites couldn't possibly hit the fully-serious Ice Phoenix Gundam.

And after breaking their shields, a single Absolute Zero Bullet from the Ice Phoenix Gundam could instantly eliminate a Dragon.

It's worth noting that the Ice Phoenix Gundam's Absolute Zero Bullet was far superior to ordinary freeze rounds equipped on Paramauls.

While Paramail freeze rounds couldn't instantly kill Dragons unless hitting vital points, just one hit from the Ice Phoenix Gundam's Absolute Zero would freeze these Dragons solid, causing them to shatter into code fragments upon crashing to the ground.

With Ange intercepting the Dragons, the dusk-armored machine squad naturally fell to the Xia sisters.

When Reid took that blast for Ange earlier, the Xia sisters felt their hearts nearly stop. Reid meant everything to the two sisters now - if he died, they wouldn't know how to continue living.

So when the highly dangerous dusk-armored machines also began pursuing Reid, the Xia sisters immediately activated their Psycho-link systems, transforming into green and crimson-purple streaks of light that charged straight toward the five dusk-armored machines.

Of course, during their assault, they conveniently cleared out the smaller drakes still foolishly attacking the Joyeuse Gundam, as both women wanted Reid to return to the ship quickly.

Seeing his opponents disappear again, with the follow-up swarm of smaller drakes being pushed further away by the Black Tri-Stars and Gran Chaos' concentrated firepower, Reid had no reason to remain outside and could only return to the ship for now.

Once the Blade Angel Gundam and NT-X2 Gundam activated the Psycho-link system, the Twilight Armor units wouldn't hold any advantage even with five against two. In this clash of advanced technologies, berserkers unable to unleash the Twilight Armor's true potential stood no chance against the Psycho-link system.

Of course, after Reid returned to the ship, he definitely wouldn't enter the Medical Pod. Instead, he would maintain standby status while having the Joyeuse Gundam repaired to minimize the nanomaterial sections requiring restoration and accelerate the Mobile Suit's recovery.

Reid hadn't forgotten that even if all these extradimensional dragons and Twilight Armor units were eliminated, the surrounding Earth Federation Forces were gathering in increasing numbers.

If Ribbons insisted on having them launch another assault, it would undoubtedly lead to another major battle.

Because Reid believed that after their previous encounter, the Earth Federation Forces wouldn't foolishly line up to be cut down again.

Indeed, Reid's concerns were justified. Inside the banquet estate, Ribbons was still watching the aerial battle personally, braving ground temperatures that had already dropped below negative ten degrees Celsius.

After Reid returned to the ship, Ribbons visibly relaxed, then murmured to himself:

"Good, it seems that burst mode comes with a cost. It appears there's still hope for dealing with Reid Isaac."
