Chapter 243 - Toward Mt. Moon

"Hi~~ my dear, you actually called me? Don't tell me you've been missing me so much you can't sleep at night?"

The very first thing Logan heard after dialing Blue's number was her playful, teasing laugh.

Unlike Red or Blue Oak, finding her location using the Pokédex was impossible—she almost never activated that feature, always moving mysteriously like a phantom.

"Haa… Blue, it's a relief you're okay."

Logan exhaled, his voice carrying a hint of tension easing away.

"Hmm? What's going on?"

Blue instantly caught something unusual in his tone. Dropping her playful act, her voice grew serious.

Logan briefly explained what had happened with Red and Blue Oak.

"So… the Kanto Elite Four are deliberately targeting Trainers who placed highly in the Indigo League?"

"Yeah, that's about right. Just like villains from novels and TV—first they try to recruit you, and if you refuse, they get angry, capture you, and eliminate you."

Logan shrugged. He had heard of schemes like this far too often.

"Hehe~~ dear, it's rare to hear you this concerned for me. That makes me very happy, you know. Don't worry, I may not be able to beat the Elite Four, but catching me won't be easy either. Actually, you are the one in the greatest danger. As Kanto Champion, you're their primary target. And knowing your personality… you'll charge straight at them head-on."

Green laughed sweetly, but by the end of her words, there was genuine worry in her voice.

"Actually… I've been investigating the Elite Four for a while now. They're definitely hiding something, and it's tied to a certain 'giant bird.' Even if they didn't come after me, I was planning to confront them anyway."

She hesitated, then continued without holding anything back:

"I also suspect this connects to the mysterious person who kidnapped me years ago. When we meet in person, I'll explain everything in detail. For now, one last bit of news—Lance, the commander of the Kanto Elite Four, hasn't been in Kanto for over a year. He's been traveling other regions, searching for… something."

Logan frowned as he ended the call. Things were far more complicated than he'd first thought.

"Was that your girlfriend?"

A soft, curious voice asked. Logan turned to see Cynthia watching him with gentle eyes.

He hadn't hidden the conversation, so Cynthia had heard Green's affectionate words clearly.

"No, not at all. She's just another Pokédex Holder, a close friend and ally."

Logan denied firmly and without hesitation.

"The girl you battled in the Indigo League, right?"

Cynthia nodded knowingly.

She asked mainly for the sake of her close friend Caitlin. If Caitlin's crush already had a girlfriend, Cynthia would have to break the news. But seeing Logan's unwavering denial, she let it drop—for now.

"Logan, what do you plan to do next?"

Professor Oak asked gravely.

"The area where Blue Oak disappeared is too vague, but Red's location is certain. I'll head to Mt. Moon first to search for clues, then move on to investigate Blue Oak's disappearance."

Logan replied after some thought.

"Hmm, that's the best option for now. I'll also keep investigating. Luckily, my senior researchers won't be arriving in Kanto for a while—otherwise, with all this chaos, it'd be impossible to host them properly."

Professor Oak shook his head with a sigh.

"Cynthia, I was planning to take you on a cycling tour across Kanto, but clearly that's not happening anymore. Will you… be returning to Sinnoh?"

Logan asked carefully.

"There doesn't seem to be enough manpower here. Since I've stumbled into this, I can't just stand by and do nothing. If you don't mind, let me join you in your investigation."

Cynthia's voice was gentle as flowing water, yet it carried a quiet determination.

"Honestly… this isn't your fight. Even if you don't get involved, no one would blame you. And with the Elite Four involved, things could get very dangerous."

Logan admitted. At first, he had wanted to drag Cynthia along as backup, but after spending time together, he'd come to genuinely care for her. Now, he didn't want her dragged into Kanto's shadows.

The waters of Kanto and Johto ran too deep. Not even a Sinnoh Champion could walk away untouched.

"Your concern touches me… but I have a strong feeling this is the fated chance I need to break through my current limits. If it is destiny, I won't run. I'll face it."

Her tone was soft, but her resolve was absolute.

"…Alright then. We'll move together."

Logan stopped trying to dissuade her. If Cynthia was joining, at least the odds were a little better.

"No time to waste. We'll head to Mt. Moon now. Pikachu, you're coming with me. Yellow—you should return to Viridian City for now."

Logan gave his orders decisively.

"No! Big brother, I'm coming with you!"

To his surprise, the usually obedient Yellow shook her head stubbornly.

"Don't be ridiculous! This isn't child's play. Don't expect your enemies to care about your age—in battle, they'll attack without hesitation."

Logan glared at her sharply.

Yellow flinched, shocked. It was the first time Logan had ever raised his voice at her. But instead of backing down, she straightened her back and met his gaze with fierce determination.

"I was the one who found Pikachu first! I can understand its feelings better than anyone. And… you know my ability. I won't hold you back. I can help you, big brother. Please—take me with you!"

Her voice carried both stubbornness and pleading.

Logan was about to refuse again, but Professor Oak suddenly spoke:

"Logan… take her with you. This girl can read the thoughts of Pokémon. That's no ordinary gift."

Yellow's face lit up. She hadn't expected the old man who'd yelled at her earlier to defend her now.

"Professor…"

Logan muttered, only for Cynthia to add warmly, "I can feel this child's resolve—and the unique bond she shares with Pokémon. She needs to grow, too. With the two of us around, we won't let things go too badly."

Her gentle gray eyes softened Logan's resistance.

"Big sister!"

Yellow's eyes sparkled with joy. She was completely swept away by Cynthia's warmth.

"My name is Cynthia. What's yours, little one?"

Cynthia bent slightly, drawing Yellow close with a serene smile.

"My name is Yellow Viridian Daisy, Cynthia-sis!"

Logan sighed. With everyone siding with her, he couldn't refuse anymore. Be careful, kid. Don't let Cynthia's kindness capture you too deeply…

Cynthia's charm truly was universal—people of all ages and genders found themselves drawn to her.

"Fine. You can come. But never stray far from Cynthia or me. And when there's downtime, you'll start training your Pokémon seriously. Got it, Yellow?"

Logan finally agreed, but his tone was strict.

"Yes, big brother! I promise!"

Yellow puffed her cheeks and answered seriously.

"Then Pikachu—stay with Yellow. She saved you and brought you back to me. Protect her well."

Logan stroked Pikachu gently.

"Pika-pi!"

The little mouse nodded firmly, hopping from Logan's shoulder into Yellow's arms.

"Professor, Daisy… we're heading out. I'll update you as soon as I learn anything. Daisy, don't worry—if Red is safe, then Blue Oak will be fine too."

After one last reassurance, Logan and Cynthia summoned their Garchomp and soared off toward Mt. Moon.

"Grandpa, why give that girl a Pokédex?"

Watching them disappear, Daisy finally asked. She knew how precious the Pokédex was—it contained her grandfather's lifetime of research.

"That girl wields the 'Viridian Power.' And not just any level—the highest form. You could call it 'Nature's Blessing.'"

"Eh?"

Daisy blinked, confused.

"Do you know how Pokémon can unleash their greatest strength?" Professor Oak continued. Without waiting for her to answer, he explained:

"When a Trainer's bond with their Pokémon reaches its peak… when their emotions truly synchronize… and when together they touch the flow of nature itself… they can draw upon the power of nature. That is the highest form of connection."

He folded his hands behind his back, his eyes full of thought.

"Letting Yellow travel with Logan may guide him to awaken that 'legendary secret'…"
