Chapter 28 - Wand and Sword

Dumbledore then spoke. "Now everyone take seat, we have one more thing to discuss before class is over"

Everyone took these seat, as Dumbledore looked at all 4 Houses Student.

Then the door opened, Snape and McGonagall's came into the room, because they felt like chos was gonna happen

The classroom went silent again.

Not the shocked silence from Harry's Aether resonance.

This silence was different.

Confused. Curious.

Because sitting on the board now were two massive words written in glowing gold ink.

SWORDS AND WANDS

Dumbledore stepped aside, letting the students read.

"Most believe," he said calmly, "that magic has only one path. That all witches and wizards are meant to wield wands, cast spells, and shape mana externally."

He raised his wand.

A small flame appeared above his palm.

"The Path of the Mage."

The fire vanished.

Then Dumbledore tapped the board again.

More writing appeared beneath it.

WAND MAGIC — THE PATH OF THE MAGE

Users channel magical energy externally through catalysts such as wands or staffs.

Strengths included:

versatility,

elemental manipulation,

ranged combat,

barriers,

and structured spellcraft.

Requirements:

magical control,

incantations,

mana shaping,

and external casting focus.

Then Dumbledore's expression shifted slightly.

"However…"

The candles dimmed.

The air became heavier.

Another set of words carved themselves into the board.

SWORD MAGIC — THE PATH OF THE WARRIOR

Users possess bodies unable to release mana externally.

Instead, their magical energy is absorbed directly into the body itself.

Strengths included:

monstrous physical ability,

overwhelming close-combat power,

heightened senses,

impossible durability,

and instinctive battle perception.

Requirements:

martial discipline,

physical conditioning,

weapon mastery,

and immense stamina.

Whispers exploded across the classroom.

Ron looked horrified.

"You're telling me there are people who fight dragons with swords?!"

Theo muttered, "Usually the dragons lose."

Hermione's hand shot up instantly.

"But Professor, if they can't release mana externally, then how do enchantments interact with them? Wouldn't magical reinforcement overload the nervous system due to internal mana density?"

The entire room stared at her.

Dumbledore smiled.

"Excellent question, Miss Granger."

Snape, somewhere in the distance, looked mildly proud against his will.

Harry, meanwhile, wasn't listening.

His eyes had drifted downward.

Toward the mark on his arm.

Because this…

This wasn't what Beelzebub was.

Not fully.

Beelzebub wasn't merely Sword Magic.

It was something older.

Something wrong.

Something alive.

The mark pulsed once beneath his sleeve.

Almost… amused.

Then Dumbledore circled the word Sword with his wand.

"Historically," he continued, "Godric Gryffindor himself walked the Path of the Sword."

The Gryffindor table immediately looked smug.

"Though true Sword practitioners are rare in modern Britain…"

Dumbledore's eyes shifted toward one particular student.

"…we do happen to have one among this year's first-years."

Every head turned.

A boy sat quietly at the Gryffindor table.

Silver-white hair.

Bright blue eyes.

A sword resting beside him almost casually.

Like it belonged there.

Like it was part of him.

Harry blinked.

The boy looked… oddly calm for someone being stared at by four houses.

Dumbledore smiled warmly.

"Would you mind standing, Alex?"

The boy rose smoothly to his feet.

And the moment he did—

Harry felt it.

Not magic.

Not resonance.

But pressure.

The kind that came from something sharpened beyond human understanding.

Beelzebub suddenly spoke in Harry's mind.

Its voice quieter than usual.

More interested.

"…A Sword."

Not a swordsman.

Not a warrior.

A Sword.

Like it was a species of its own.

Dumbledore looked around the classroom thoughtfully.

The students immediately became nervous.

That expression never meant anything good.

His eyes passed over Hermione—too predictable.

Draco—too dramatic.

Ron—too likely to accidentally die.

Then his gaze landed on Harry.

Dumbledore's smile widened.

Harry immediately did not trust that smile.

'Oh no.'

Theo noticed too.

"Oh no," Theo said out loud.

Blaise physically leaned away from Harry like he wanted plausible deniability when the explosion happened.

Dumbledore clasped his hands together cheerfully.

"Mr. Potter."

The room collectively winced.

Harry slowly pointed at himself. "Me?"

"Yes, you."

Harry looked around desperately. "Can I politely refuse?"

"No."

'Worth a try.'

Alex, meanwhile, looked mildly panicked now that he understood what was happening.

"Professor," Alex said carefully, "I don't think sparring with an Aether resonance is safe."

Dumbledore's eyes twinkled.

"Neither is Hogwarts staircases, yet we continue onward."

McGonagall sighed into her hand.

Snape muttered, "This is why insurance costs are unbearable."

A practice circle formed in the middle of the classroom.

Students quickly moved their desks back.

Very quickly.

Like they had survival instincts.

Harry awkwardly stepped into the center opposite Alex.

Up close, Harry realized Alex was actually pretty tall for eleven. Not huge, but sturdy in the way someone who trained constantly became sturdy.

Alex gave a small polite bow.

Harry awkwardly copied him half a second later.

"So…" Harry started. "Are we actually fighting?"

Alex shook his head immediately.

"Oh! No no no. It's just a demonstration."

Harry relaxed slightly.

Then Alex continued:

"I'm just supposed to show Sword reinforcement techniques."

Harry relaxed more.

Then Beelzebub spoke.

'The white-haired child is lying.'

Harry blinked internally.

'What?'

'Not maliciously. But his instincts are active.'

Harry looked at Alex again.

Now that he focused—

He noticed it.

Alex's stance.

Relaxed on the outside.

Perfectly balanced underneath.

Like a resting lion.

Dumbledore stepped back.

"Simple exercise," the Headmaster said. "Mr. Potter will cast a basic spell."

Harry raised an eyebrow.

"And Alex?"

Dumbledore smiled.

"He will attempt to cut it."

Silence.

Pure silence.

Hermione's quill snapped.

Ron choked on air.

Draco whispered, horrified, "You can DO that?!"

Theo slowly looked toward Blaise.

"We are about to witness something incredibly stupid."

Blaise nodded.

"And historically accurate."

Alex looked embarrassed.

"It's really not that impressive—"

Beelzebub immediately interrupted.

'He is lying again.'

Harry raised his wand uncertainly.

Alex placed a hand on the hilt of his sword.

The classroom pressure changed instantly.

Not magical pressure.

Killing intent.

No—

Focus.

Pure overwhelming focus.

The candles flickered.

Even the fairies hid.

Harry swallowed.

Then Alex smiled sheepishly again.

"Whenever you're ready."

Harry slowly raised his wand.

He looked at Alex.

Alex looked back politely.

The entire classroom leaned forward like they were about to witness either history or manslaughter.

Probably both.

Harry cleared his throat.

"So uh… what spell should I use?"

Dumbledore answered immediately.

"Anything below lethal."

McGonagall nearly stood up. "ALBUS—"

Snape looked exhausted already.

Alex raised a hand quickly. "Maybe just a basic Bolt Spell?"

Harry nodded rapidly. "YES. THAT."

Harry took a breath.

"Lumos Bolt!"

A beam of concentrated light shot from his wand straight toward Alex.

And then—

Alex moved.

Not fast.

Not flashy.

Just… precise.

His sword left the sheath with a clean metallic sound.

SHING.

The spell split in half.

The two halves curved around Alex harmlessly before exploding against the walls behind him.

Silence.

Harry blinked.

Ron stood up.

"HE CAN DO THAT?!"

Alex immediately looked embarrassed. "It's really just mana redirection—"

Theo slammed both hands on the desk. "YOU CUT MAGIC."

Hermione's eye twitched violently as her worldview suffered critical damage.

"That violates at least FOUR magical principles!"

Alex scratched his cheek awkwardly. "Well… technically Sword Magic works by interacting directly with mana structure instead of—"

"No," Hermione interrupted instantly. "No. I reject this."

Dumbledore clapped happily.

"Excellent! Again."

Harry pointed at himself. "Why am I the test dummy?!"

"Character growth."

"That's not what that means!"

Harry tried again.

"Flipendo!"

The force spell shot forward.

Alex stepped sideways casually and swung once.

The spell shattered like glass.

A collective gasp echoed through the room.

Then—

A stray piece of broken force magic smacked Ron directly in the forehead.

BONK.

Ron fell backward off his chair.

"BETRAYAL!"

The room erupted into chaos.

Half the Gryffindors were cheering.

The Ravenclaws were having academic breakdowns.

The Hufflepuffs looked terrified.

Meanwhile Hermione was rapidly writing notes with the fury of a scholar trying to fistfight reality itself.

"Impossible… mana severance through kinetic reinforcement… direct structural disruption…"

Padma peeked over her shoulder.

"…Are you okay?"

"No."

Harry stared at Alex now.

"…Okay that's cool."

Alex smiled sheepishly. "Thanks."

Then Harry grinned.

Which immediately worried Theo.

"Oh no," Theo whispered.

Blaise nodded solemnly. "He's about to do something stupid."

Harry pointed his wand dramatically.

"If you can cut spells…"

Alex's expression slowly shifted into concern.

"…can you cut this?"

Harry's Aether resonance flared instinctively.

The classroom lights flickered.

The crystal from earlier hummed violently.

Snape immediately stood up.

"Potter—"

Too late.

A massive beam of golden magic exploded from Harry's wand like a fantasy final attack.

Students screamed.

Ron ducked under the table.

Hermione shouted, "THAT IS NOT A FIRST-YEAR SPELL—"

Alex's eyes widened.

Then—

For the first time—

His smile disappeared.

Not from fear.

Focus.

Pure instinct.

His sword arm moved.

The room heard a sound like reality being sliced open.

For one impossible second—

The giant beam of magic stopped.

Split cleanly down the middle.

The two halves curved around Alex—

—and obliterated half the ceiling behind him.

Complete silence.

Dust fell from above.

Everyone stared at the smoking hole in the classroom ceiling.

Then slowly—

Alex raised his hand politely.

"…I think we broke Hogwarts."

Theo slowly lifted his head from under the desk, hair covered in dust.

"…What."

Alex blinked innocently.

Theo pointed at the giant hole in the ceiling.

"No—no forget the ceiling—WHAT is your resonance?"

Alex scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"My family had it checked before I came to Hogwarts," he admitted. "It's Aether."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Then the entire classroom exploded.

"THERE'S TWO OF THEM?!" Ron screamed.

Hermione looked moments away from ascending beyond mortal understanding.

"That statistically makes NO SENSE!"

Draco physically sat down on the floor.

"No. I refuse. The universe has rules."

Blaise pointed at Harry and Alex.

"The universe clearly disagrees."

Harry stared at Alex.

Alex stared back.

Then both boys spoke at the same time.

"Oh."

"…Cool."

Theo looked personally offended by how casual they were being.

"You two are apparently once-in-several-centuries magical anomalies!"

Harry shrugged. "Yeah but he seems nice."

Alex nodded. "You seem nice too."

The room collectively realized something horrifying:

There were now two Aether users in Hogwarts.

And both appeared to share exactly one brain cell.

Meanwhile—

Snape had stopped glaring.

Which somehow scared everyone more.

McGonagall looked like she was mentally calculating how many walls Hogwarts insurance covered.

Dumbledore though?

Dumbledore looked delighted.

Not normal delighted.

Ancient wizard delighted.

The dangerous kind.

"Remarkable," he said softly.

Beelzebub's voice echoed in Harry's head again.

'Interesting.'

Harry internally groaned.

'You keep saying that.'

'Because the white-haired child is abnormal.'

'You're a demonic sword.'

'Correct.'

Harry hated how reasonable that sounded.

Alex looked around nervously at everyone staring.

"…Did I say something wrong?"

"YES," the entire classroom shouted.

Alex flinched.

"Sorry."

Then—

CRACK.

Everyone looked up.

The ceiling above them finally gave up emotionally and collapsed further.

A massive chunk of stone fell directly toward the class.

Students screamed.

McGonagall reached for her wand—

But before anyone could react—

Alex moved.

One step.

One swing.

The boulder split into dozens of perfectly harmless pieces midair.

The fragments landed gently around the classroom.

Silence.

Theo slowly looked at Harry.

"…You found a second protagonist."

Harry nodded.

"…Yeah."

The classroom was destroyed.

Not metaphorically.

Actually destroyed.

Half the ceiling was gone.

One wall was smoking.

Several desks had fused together from residual Aether discharge.

And somehow, through all of this—

Dumbledore looked pleased.

A few hours later, after several professors, twenty-seven repair spells, and one deeply traumatized castle fairy later…

The announcement was made.

Due to:

"unexpected magical circumstances,"

"structural instability,"

"mana saturation,"

and "the existence of TWO Aether resonances in a single first-year class somehow,"

…the first-years had the rest of the day off.

The Great Hall exploded into cheers.

Students immediately swarmed Harry and Alex like they were war heroes returning from battle.

"BEST FIRST CLASS EVER!"

"You destroyed the ceiling!"

"You CUT MAGIC!"

"YOU SHOT A SUN LASER!"

Ron grabbed Harry by the shoulders dramatically.

"YOU GOT US OUT OF CLASS ON THE FIRST DAY. YOU ARE MY HERO."

Then he grabbed Alex too.

"AND YOU! YOU BEAUTIFUL SWORD MANIAC!"

Alex looked horrified by the attention.

"Oh—uh—thank you?"

Harry looked equally confused.

"We just broke a room."

"That's what makes it legendary," Blaise explained calmly.

Meanwhile—

At the Ravenclaw table.

Hermione Granger sat perfectly still.

Too still.

The kind of stillness that made people nervous.

Parvati slowly leaned away from her.

"Hermione?"

Hermione's eye twitched.

"I woke up," she said quietly, "prepared for my first proper academic day at Hogwarts."

Padma nodded carefully. "Okay…"

Hermione continued.

"I organized my books."

Another twitch.

"I prepared notes."

A second twitch.

"I memorized three chapters ahead."

Then she slowly turned her head toward Harry and Alex laughing across the hall.

"And those two idiots," she whispered with the fury of a dying star, "blew up the classroom before lunch."

The lantern beside her flickered.

Jophiel's voice echoed softly in her mind.

'Calm yourself.'

"I AM CALM."

The lantern immediately dimmed in fear.

Across the hall—

Harry sneezed.

Theo looked at him.

"You just felt Hermione's killing intent."

"Why does she want to kill us?"

Blaise answered immediately.

"You canceled learning."

Harry paled.

"Oh no."

Alex looked genuinely guilty.

"…Should we apologize?"

Theo and Blaise stared at him.

Then simultaneously:

"No."

Because behind Hermione—

Half the first-years were literally chanting:

"DAY OFF! DAY OFF! DAY OFF!"

Even Dudley was standing on a bench cheering.

McGonagall walked past the tables holding her forehead.

Snape followed behind her carrying what looked like the remains of a melted desk.

"This," Snape said darkly, "is why children should not possess divine-tier resonance."

Dumbledore walked by cheerfully sipping tea.

"Oh Severus, where is your sense of wonder?"

"The ceiling is gone."

"Yes," Dumbledore agreed happily. "Magnificent, isn't it?"
