Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Preparing for Closed-Door Cultivation

"I can't sense the rest yet. Once I break through these next two seals, I'll probably understand more. I'll let you know then. Also… I'll be counting on you for my parents."

Gu You merely gave a faint hum in response. Finding thousand-year spirit herbs? That was so easy. Even ten-thousand-year herbs—he could pull a few strings and get them if he wanted.

As for whether Tang Wulin was trying to scam him—Gu You figured that even if he had the nerve, he wouldn't dare. Because right now, Gu You was the only one capable of helping him find his parents.

Truthfully, dealing with Tang Wulin's adoptive parents was a headache. But pushing the story forward would eventually lead to results.

The Spirit Pagoda was secretly colluding with the Holy Spirit Cult. The Qian Gu family had turned a blind eye. Tang Wulin's parents had been kidnapped by the cult to assist in the development of certain technologies—designs that were also of interest to the Spirit Pagoda. They were being drained of every last bit of value. Once they became useless, death would be their only outcome.

Gu You wasn't afraid of the Holy Spirit Cult. What worried him was the Demon Sovereign. If she went all-out, she'd be even more terrifying than a half-god. Plus, she had two pseudo-god–level Soul Masters under her command, not to mention the numerous super Titled Douluo that followed.

Sure, Gu You could fight against Yuezi, but he always had the feeling that she wasn't using her full strength. Even if the Evil God wasn't a true deity, there was no way someone like that should be getting beaten by a six-ring Soul Master like him.

In short—he needed to act carefully. There was still time. According to the original plot, it would be over a thousand chapters before Tang Ziran and Lang Yue were killed. Gu You would definitely save them. They were rare talents. Tang Wulin's father had once been a federal designer—at minimum, an eighth-rank mecha designer. Otherwise, a single blueprint wouldn't have caused such a stir in both the Spirit Pagoda and the Holy Spirit Cult—nor driven them to anger the Federation and even risk a final confrontation with Tang Wulin just to eliminate the couple.

Thinking of this, Gu You turned and walked away.

It was time to go into seclusion.

He needed to forge his own second-grade battle armor, help Tang Wulin find the four spirit herbs, and also forge Yuanen's gauntlet. As for the metal—Deep Silver would do. It had great malleability and was ideal for the job.

Still, he had to admit that Tang Wulin had earned a bit more of his respect. He had personally prepared everything needed for the third seal. And just for the sake of his adoptive parents, he was willing to give up the tremendous opportunity tied to the Golden Dragon King bloodline. If that little punk inside Tang Wulin's mind saw all this, he'd probably be so furious he'd spit blood.

A thousand-year plan—what if it ended up completely falling apart?

Tang Wulin breaking free of his control meant the main character was stepping off the script. Everything from here on could change. And if that happened, the Dragon God successor Lan Xuanyu, who was meant to appear ten thousand years later, might never show up at all. Tang San's grand plan had been meticulous—almost all the powerhouses would belong to his family, creating a single overwhelming force.

But of course, nothing was without its surprises. Tang San had always been full of schemes. His divine sense hadn't been destroyed yet. It was even possible he already knew Gu You had discovered his existence.

Leaving Shrek Academy's outer court, Gu You headed toward the Shrek Blacksmith Association in Shrek City.

His figure vanished from where he stood, the surrounding scenery flying past in a blur. When he reappeared, he was already inside a building filled with the scent of metal.

"You said two days—how come you're back already?" Feng Wuyu's voice called out from another room.

"I'm done learning. Back to forging. Get me some metal. I'm making second-grade battle armor," Gu You said as he sat down and closed his eyes, preparing to cultivate.

"That's not something you can finish in just a couple of days. Let me take a look at the battle armor blueprint—who designed it for you?"

"Relax. It was tailored for me by an eighth-grade mecha designer. Just help me gather some Starfall Iron. As much as you can get. I've already got enough of everything else. And there's some usable material right here in this room."

Gu You had it all planned out. For the alloy, he'd use Deep Silver and Abyssal Beard Steel. It had excellent extensibility and suited his martial soul's traits well. As for choosing Starfall Iron—it probably had to do with the special energy carried by meteorite minerals. Weapons forged with it gained excellent penetrating power, and in terms of armor, its incredible density offered superior defense. It could withstand up to 20,000 degrees Celsius. Used properly, it would give his armor amazing defensive potential and a lot of room for enhancement.

"You're not joking, are you? Do you know how rare that mineral is?" Feng Wuyu gritted his teeth. Starfall Iron was among the rarest minerals in Douluo Continent's history. Just having two or three pieces was considered lucky.

"Of course I'm serious. I only need two pieces. Once I'm strong enough, I'll just fly into space and fetch you two more myself," Gu You joked casually.

"I'm not that stingy—but remember, only two!" Feng Wuyu's voice faded. He had clearly gone to fetch the ore.

Gu You placed the shattered battle armor piece "God" and the unused one "Dragon" onto the forging table. Then he took out a piece of Deep Silver and placed it alongside them. He pressed the furnace button, and the materials slowly descended into the forge to begin heating.

This forging table was quite advanced—capable of heating up to five rare metals at once. That meant a skilled enough blacksmith could use it to forge continuously. The furnace's temperature was also much higher than standard equipment, supported by soul power batteries—an extremely practical design.

Very soon, the Deep Silver finished smelting. It was the first to rise.

Gu You flicked his hands. Two gleaming Spirit-Refined Life Hammers appeared.

Even though he had never forged Deep Silver before, spirit refining it was nothing.

It was simply too easy for him.

Even before Feng Wuyu had returned with the Starfall Iron, Gu You had already completed the forging.

Looking at the radiant silver metal in front of him, Gu You nodded in satisfaction.

Spirit refining was no longer a challenge to him. It wasn't just because his hammers possessed the rare life infusion trait. His powerful bloodline and life soul ring were also immensely beneficial to forging—not only enhancing spirit-based effects, but also drawing the metal's energy toward him.

Of course, he wouldn't waste a blood sacrifice on a piece of Deep Silver. It wasn't of much use to him. Even if it reached the Heaven-Refined grade, it wouldn't matter—unsuitable materials had no value, no matter how high their quality.

Gu You stored the Deep Silver. He'd deliver it to Yuanen later. As for shaping it into a gauntlet—he'd let someone else handle that. He didn't have time for everything. Just forging the full set of second-grade battle armor would take at least two months.

"I'm back. Got the stuff," Feng Wuyu's voice suddenly rang out.
