Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Twin Dragons Play with the Pearl

This was a genuine sixty-third-rank Soul Emperor—plus, his martial soul was the extremely rare Golden Leaf.

It was said that twenty thousand years ago, the Spirit Ice Douluo, Huo Yuhao, had once fought a Soul Master with the Golden Leaf martial soul.

"Gu You, martial soul: Purple-Gold Dragon Emperor. Sixty-eighth-rank Power Attack–type Soul Emperor."

A brief silence.

Not even fifteen years old—already a Soul Emperor?

"He's a first-year student?"

"Level sixty-eight?! Is that even humanly possible?!"

The audience wasn't shocked in awe—it was long, stunned disbelief.

For a first-year student, reaching Soul Ancestor level was already miraculous. Yet this person in front of them… was a high-rank Soul Emperor. What kind of nonsense was this?

Even Luo Guixing and the others were stunned. 'Does he really have Soul Emperor-level cultivation?'

Opposite him, Ye Shihong gave a cold smile. "Kid, try being honest."

Behind him, one of his teammates had a face full of twitching nerves.

Anyone would doubt it—but Gu You was the adopted son of that man. If that person hadn't intervened back then, he would've gone mad from just one hit of Gu You's second soul skill.

At that moment, a group of teachers strode through the air and arrived.

At the head was the breathtaking Holy Spirit Douluo, Ya Li. Walking beside her was the dean of the Outer Court, the Silver Moon Douluo, Cai Yue'er. If one paid close attention, they'd notice Cai Yue'er deliberately took half a step behind Ya Li.

Many uninformed Outer Court students were surprised. Both were Title Douluo, and Cai Yue'er held such a prestigious position in the academy. Yet she was walking behind the Holy Spirit Douluo?

That implied Ya Li's status at Shrek Academy was higher than even the dean of the Outer Court.

But the Holy Spirit Douluo's abilities were in support and healing. How could she hold such high status? Clearly, there were hidden secrets behind her position.

Following these two Sea God Pavilion members was Elder Li, whom Gu You had met before. It was clear—whether or not Elder Li was a Pavilion member, his status in the academy was extraordinary.

Behind them came the two sixth-year head instructors, year-one's homeroom teacher Shen Yi, vice-homeroom Wu Zhangkong, and several subject teachers, all here to spectate.

But was that everyone? Gu You didn't believe so.

With his powerful spiritual sense, he could clearly feel many hidden and powerful soul power fluctuations nearby. None of them were below Soul Douluo rank.

The teachers seated themselves at the observation platform, the air still shimmering with soul power ripples where they had stepped.

Just as they settled in, two more people entered from the arena gate.

To be precise, they entered while arguing.

"What are you doing here?" the elder on the left looked at the one on the right in disgust.

"I came to watch my disciple crush everything. I want to see how much he's improved. And you? Why aren't you hiding on Sea God Island? What are you doing here? This is the Outer Court. Not your territory."

"I'm here to see if my grand-disciple has made progress. That brat was taught by Little Zhangkong."

"Wow, so now your disciple teaches someone and suddenly he's your grand-disciple?"

"What, not convinced? Let your disciple teach him then!"

"Bah."

"Bah your face! You think you're tough? All you know is cheating. Listen here, crazy old man, if you lead my grand-disciple astray, you're finished."

"Oh really? Try and stop me. Come on!"

"Don't think I won't. With your useless kung fu, I could put you down in minutes on the dueling platform."

"You wish!"

These two bickering old men were none other than the Crimson Dragon Douluo, Zhuo Shi, and the Blazing Dragon Douluo, Feng Wuyu.

As they squabbled, their gazes locked on Gu You.

Thankfully, they had some sense and didn't rush over to him. They walked up to the stands.

Seeing Silver Moon Douluo Cai Yue'er, both nodded politely to her. But when their eyes landed on the Holy Spirit Douluo, both of them froze.

"Ya Li, what brings you here today?" Zhuo Shi reacted quickly, flashing to her side.

Ya Li gave him a sidelong glance. "I'm here to watch the match."

"Ya Li, long time no see," Feng Wuyu had also appeared on her other side, rubbing his hands nervously.

Gu You had sharp eyes. He could see these two old fogeys constantly bickering but he couldn't hear what they said. Still, if he could hear it, it probably would've been pretty entertaining.

"Yue'er, how about we make a deal?" Zhuo Shi turned to Silver Moon Douluo with his usual brashness.

Cai Yue'er rolled her eyes. "Why are you two here anyway? If you're watching, fine—but stay quiet. Otherwise, leave."

Zhuo Shi replied righteously, "As a Sea God Pavilion elder, it's only proper that I observe the Outer Court's progress. Unlike some people, who are just a blacksmith and still show up to poke around."

"A blacksmith, huh? Without us, you wouldn't even have armor to wear. Want me to tell Zhen Hua not to forge your armor when you get to four-word rank? See how you like using battle armor without the piece that covers your butt."

"Feng Wuyu, I've had enough of you. Don't get cocky just because Ya Li is here, or I'll meet you on the sparring platform."

"Bring it on!"

"Enough from both of you," Ya Li said, shaking her head in exasperation.

Oddly enough, these two who were bickering fiercely immediately quieted down at her words. Though they still snorted at each other, neither said another word.

Cai Yue'er said, "You two are late. Sit in the second row."

"Okay." Feng Wuyu rose and headed for the back.

"Fine, I'll sit behind you." Zhuo Shi flashed into the second row, landing directly opposite Ya Li's seat.

Feng Wuyu was a step too slow and glared at him in frustration.

Zhuo Shi was unmoved. The two immediately started elbowing each other again.

"If you two can't be quiet, just leave," Ya Li frowned. 'Why are these two lunatics acting up now?'

"Quiet, you!" Zhuo Shi pointed at Feng Wuyu.

But Ya Li turned around just then, and under her searing gaze, the two mad dragons finally shut their mouths and obediently sat in their seats.

She shook her head helplessly and turned her attention back to the arena. These two were insane half the time and berserk the other half.

Cai Yue'er gave a hand signal to the referee.

The referee nodded and announced, "Upon verification, Gu You's soul power is indeed level sixty-eight."

That gave the crowd a definitive answer.

At that moment, all doubts vanished, replaced by thunderous cheers.

"Heavens! We're witnessing history—a thirteen or fourteen-year-old Soul Emperor!"

"No way, that's impossible, there's no—"
