Alloy and Kakeha had made it past the bridge on the South and walked through quite a few paths in the village, Alloy had suffered three very nice smells from foods inside the village houses, as well as the man they had to pass who was also grilling fish.(Yukio was at the center, they were at the South, the distance wasn't that much, but they were two different places.) Anyway, in no time, to Kakeha at least… they got a clearer and bigger view of the forest the closer they got. In a few moments, they walked and suddenly, Alloy stepped on a puddle of water. She shrieked. Nearly screaming.
"Alloy-san, what's wrong??" Kakeha inquired.
"That puddle… it's so… so… cold!!" She shook trying to answer.
"What do you mean?? This is a dry land. And we passed the river under the bridge a while back."
"You touch that water then!!" She retorted when suddenly, Kakeha's breath was visible.
"It's… how??" She asked as she glanced at the forest only to see bursts of strong waves in the air. "N… No… how is this possible?!?!"
"What is it, Kakeha??" Alloy asked. Her breath visible as well as she rubbed her hands together for warmth.
"I see them… I see the waves of Shiun here!!"
"Huh??!! How??!! Aren't they only supposed to be on the edges??!!"
"So… you did pay attention to how my power works…" Kakeha smirked.
"Of course, I can't navigate properly even with the tool Yukio has, but I like knowing how my crew works, you're all interesting!!"
"So are you, Alloy-san. You are right, though. The island is supposed to bounce Shiun waves back to the sea so navigation tools can pick up the odd waves bouncing back from each island. My eyes are more of a shortcut so I can see the waves directly. I've never seen waves like this before, waves right inside of and atop an island. It's weaker on the dry side, but heavy inside the forest."
"It's odd, but we'll ask Yukio about it when we see him again. For now, let's go into the forest!!"
"Alloy-san, Yukio also said the island held two seasons, the other was winter. I think… the whole forest is in a winter season!!""It is… look!!" Alloy's excitement turned Kakeha's eyes to her, she was pointing up toward the forest's closest leaves. And Kakeha's eyes widened. They were frozen.
"LET'S GO KAKEHA!!"
"Alright."
The two crossed over the to the larger signature of Shiun, seen by normal eyes as snow, and went into the forest. A mere few minutes later, Yukio had made his way to the forest entrance as well. He had coats on his arms as he walked inside the cold area. In front of him he heard something sliding down. Something slightly big, and it wasn't alone. Upon gazing at the projectiles, he came to find two icicles rolling down all the way to him where he stopped both of them. Inside the icicles, he found people. Two people in fact. His jaw dropped as he confirmed who they were.
"ALLOY-SAN!! KAKEHA-SAN!!" He shrieked. Alloy's face was frozen with a smile, Kakeha's was frozen with incomplete words, Damion and Tasue could've figured out exactly what happened, but Yukio didn't bother. He instantly carried them over to the drier side of the island, nearly slipping both of them from his hands thanks to the smoothness of the ice. He went back just before the entrance where he let them defrost slowly. He placed the coats he had brought while he looked for them next to him as he waited.
*****
On the East end of the island, Damion and Tasue were in pursuit of the suspicious man who ran into a quieter street that held towering buildings, odd for a village-like island, not so much if the prosperous buildings are next to the main market around. They had gone through at least three corners in the street and the more they went on, the more the man tripped and stumbled but kept scrambling back up as he went on.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!!" He shouted. The tinge of desperation clear as day in his voice, however, Damion also caught it.
"I'm tired of this chase." He said as he stood and instantly shot a flaming arrow in front of the running man. The arrow whistled right past him, lighting the street slightly before it landed right in front of him and remained stuck to the ground. Still emitting some light from its dying flame. The man stopped, scared by the arrow, he glanced back slowly to see Damion already drew another arrow on his bow and it was ready to shoot straight at him. However, he was given a chance.
"Why were you watching us?? Why did you run away?!" Damion demanded. The idiot's hands flew up. He surrendered.
*****
"WHY DID YOU GO WITHOUT ME??!!" Yukio urged them.
"I wanted adventure!!" Alloy answered as she missed her arm to the sleeve of the coat Yukio brought her.
"Alloy-san dragged me with her." Kakeha said. Managing to button one of her coat buttons.
The two had frozen solid due to the captain's want for adventure, reckless adventure, and Kakeha just didn't think of waiting for anything because there was nothing to wait for. They had thawed completely, but their limbs were still struggling to move.
"Now it adds up… You're a very reckless person, Alloy-san." Yukio mentioned.
"You wouldn't be the first to tell me that, could you help us with these coats instead of judging us??!!" Alloy's teeth shook.
"Of course."
In no time, the two were cozy enough to deal with the cold ahead. Yes. A coat made all the difference.
"Yukio-san."
"Yes, Kakeha-san??"
"I saw the waves…"
He smiled. "I knew someone like you would see something different!! What do you see??"
"They clashed, like there were normal waves entering the island from the side we arrived with and the abnormal waves coming from the other side… they are abundant, and I don't know why its happening."
"Well, now I can explain. We will debrief the rest later. Shiun tends to get more and more abundant when it is closer to the continents. The waves of Shiun often bounce back to the sea from the continent wall itself, some say Shiun was just meant for the seas, others believe that the continent rock works slightly different, but this is the reality, and islands such as this one, can gain different aspects far from anything we've seen before when Shiun bounces back from the continent and interacts abnormally with the normal flow of the same. Bringing results like…" he glanced at the frozen leaves.
"Two seasons on one island… I see… thank you, Yukio-san!!" Kakeha exclaimed as she bowed.
"Okay!! I'm completely thawed!! Let's g…" Alloy's train of thought got interrupted by her nose. She smelled food, finally!! Then they saw immediately where it came from.
"Yukio…" her eyes narrowed as she took small steps toward him, stopped right next to him and stared him in the face. Her eyes caught a glimpse of a tiny piece of meat on the corner of his mouth.
"Yes?? Alloy-san…"
"YOU BOUGHT YOURSELF FOOD AND ONLY BROUGHT US COATS??!!" She bellowed.
"Well… I… I thoug…" he was interrupted by a sound. They all were. It came from inside the forest, and it was followed by the roaring of what definitely sounded like a large cat, lion, tiger, whatever it was, it stopped Alloy's pissed off train of complaining before it really took off.
"What was that??!!" She wondered.
"I don't know." Yukio replied.
"Neither do I, let us go see what it is," Kakeha began. "This time we will not freeze solid."
"Yeah," Alloy said. They all began walking. They passed through the cold once more and for a moment, Alloy stopped. The snow was falling inside the forest, and she couldn't help but feel something beautiful about it. Kakeha stopped and noticed her enjoyment, it forced her to smile unknowingly before Alloy glanced at her.
"Beautiful, isn't it??" She began.
"Very," they both smiled.
Yukio had moved slightly ahead of them, he heard the growl once more and called out.
"ALLOY-SAN!! KAKEHA-SAN!! I HEAR IT THIS WAY!!"
"Okay!!" They both replied and followed behind him.
