Uriel was lost in thought, going over what Adrianne had said to him.
“Her Majesty is the only direct descendant of the imperial family. Unless she chooses the Grand Duke as her successor, she’ll have to take a spouse to produce an heir.”
She had tried to persuade him to propose grandly to Apollonia, speaking to him with pity.
“What will you do if Her Majesty is not by your side, Sir Uriel?”
Leaving those words behind, she had left the room, seeming genuinely concerned.
Uriel let out a sigh. He closed his weary eyes, but at that moment, he imagined Apollonia in a beautiful white dress. His heart fluttered at the image of her, but there was a man standing beside her, holding her hand.
Uriel couldn’t see his face, but he knew that he definitely wanted to punch him.
‘I should stop.’ He shook his head to clear his thoughts. ‘How pathetic.’
