Chapter 433 - Chapter 433: Nothing but a Tool

Golariel studied the unfamiliar motes of light floating in Orsaga's hand. Linking the sight to his words, she immediately understood what they were.

Leaning in close, curiosity sparking in her eyes as she observed the strands of radiance flickering within each sphere, she asked:

"Is this the system you once told us about?"

Thousands of years earlier, Orsaga had explained to them that he was not, in the strictest sense, a naturally-born Abyssal Demon, but rather a kind of reincarnator.

His reincarnation had not been entirely successful. He treated his previous life with complete detachment, as though it were nothing more than the faint memories left behind from devouring a soul. Even the Abyss itself had acknowledged his pureblood identity.

He had also told them about his strange advantage — the so-called Evolution System — and how it functioned.

Later, they learned he had even purchased another system from the Abyss, which he had been dissecting and studying ever since. Not long ago, he mentioned his research had finally borne fruit.

So, Golariel and the others already had a rough idea of what this might be.

Orsaga casually gestured as if to say you guessed it right, and with a smile confirmed:

"Yes, that's it. Though for now, what I can manufacture is only a simplified version. It'll need upgrading later."

He then glanced at them and asked:

"So—do you want to test it early?"

Alison eyed the six motes, each like glimmering dust, and shrugged indifferently:

"Why not? After hearing you talk about it so many times, I'm curious to see what it really does."

At her reply, one light sphere flew toward her. The instant it touched, it melted away like a snowflake into water.

At once, a faint sensation rippled through her, and a translucent screen unfolded before her eyes:

[Host: Alison Koweit Naritari

Race: Elf

Rank: Myling universe — Child of Light / Greater Demon

Strength: 161

Speed: 165

Constitution: 160

Mana: 158

Soul: 170

Talents: Nature Affinity, Scion of Radiance, Arrow Beyond Space…

Evolution Points: ∞]

Thanks to the system's nature, Alison instinctively understood the meaning of each entry. But when her eyes fell upon the final line, she froze.

"...The number for Evolution Points… isn't this wrong?" she asked uncertainly.

Orsaga glanced over and explained lightly:

"Those points are drawn directly from me, so that's why they show up like that."

For him, energy meant little now. He had simply opened unlimited accounts for Golariel and the others, with all costs drawn straight from the reserves of Crimson Heaven.

Alison frowned helplessly.

"Still… showing ∞ feels strange. We don't really know what that means in practice…"

Beside her, Petra, who had been exploring her own system panel, nodded in agreement.

An unlimited card was nice — but sometimes a card with a clear figure, say 100 billion to spend freely, was more reassuring. At least then they'd know the scale.

"Fair enough…" Orsaga chuckled, scratching his head.

The next moment, the ∞ symbols on their panels shifted, replaced with a string of numbers:

1,000,000,000,000,000

"..."

The six of them stared silently at the endless zeroes. They didn't know exactly how much such a figure represented, but the sheer length of it was enough to leave them speechless.

To calm them, Orsaga added casually:

"Don't worry — the number refreshes every day. You'll never run out."

That explanation only made Golariel furrow her brow in concern.

"But what about you? Won't this slow your own progress?"

To her, Orsaga was their cornerstone. If he weakened himself for their sake, it would be a problem.

But Orsaga waved her off, smiling with indifference:

"It's fine. In the end, it's just energy."

Had this been back when he was only a Greater Demon, such extravagance would have been impossible. But as a Chaos God, his very presence within this Multiverse granted him power on par with an Demon Lord.

Even if this strength came only from the Multiverse's blessing, the benefits were real.

Thus, traits once exclusive to Demon Lords were gradually manifesting in him. Though imperfect, even as a "false" Lord, he was no weaker than many "true" ones — perhaps stronger.

With his senses, awareness, and abilities forcibly elevated, he no longer required the Evolution System for many things. He could now accomplish them on his own — better and faster.

His innate talent, Transcendence – Crimson Sin, alone could generate, within a single second, enough energy to incinerate the entire physical universe.

Before their eyes, the vertical pupil on his forehead glowed faintly. Slowly, a quail-egg-sized transparent crystal formed in his hand.

Holding it delicately between two fingers, he explained calmly:

"This is the original Evolution System I was born with. You could say that half my current achievements belong to it. Without it, I might have remained just a High Demon… or died long ago."

"I've examined it countless times, yet I still can't figure out how it attached itself to me in the first place. So yes — its existence carries a certain risk."

Elsa blinked at the crystal, then asked in puzzlement:

"So… are you planning to discard it?"

Orsaga chuckled.

"Of course not. After all these years, I've grown attached. How could I just throw it away?"

Then, as if to prove his point, he tossed the crystal into his mouth.

With audible cracks, he chewed it leisurely. Sparks, flames, and fragments of space-time occasionally flickered at the corners of his lips.

"Crunch… mm… not bad. Quite tasty."

The six women exchanged speechless looks, silently staring at one another.

Orsaga ignored their stares. Between bites, he still gave them a serious warning:

"One more thing: when you use the system to strengthen yourselves, don't push too far at once. If your power surges too quickly, it could spiral out of control. Take it step by step, give your bodies time to adapt. And remember — the system has its limits. It cannot take you beyond the level of a Demon Lord. To reach the true peak, you'll have to rely on your own effort. In the end… this system is nothing more than a tool."
