Denji opened his eyes slowly which were sunken so deep they seemed about to sink into his skull. His trembling gaze wandered, scanning the place around him.
He was sitting beneath a withered tree, and before him lay a silent grave covered with damp soil.
He felt something stir in his lap, and lowered his head slowly… it was Pochita, sleeping. The little creature woke as soon as it sensed Denji's gaze.
In an instant, Denji hugged Pochita with overwhelming force, his mouth open in an attempt to scream but no sound came out. He felt as if, if he didn't scream, his heart would explode from the crushing pressure inside him.
Pochita extended his tiny claws and patted Denji's hands, which were gripping him as though afraid he'd vanish again.
"Don't worry… just let everything out"
Pochita said softly, continuing to pat him gently.
And in that moment, Denji burst out in a hoarse, drawn-out scream:
"HaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" he cried with all his strength, tears streaming down his face. The images of that night replayed endlessly in his head the face of that man still burned into his memory, making his voice rise in anguish.
"You'll be alright… you're safe now. That man won't hurt you anymore. I'll make sure of it."
Pochita whispered reassuringly, his warm tone loosening the knot in Denji's chest just a little. Denji's eyes darted around in confusion and fear, his throat tight , he couldn't form words, only faint murmurs.
"I'll make sure of it" pochita repeated with tears flowing slowly from his eyes
_____________
Rain fell relentlessly as Rem trudged through the forest, the downpour soaking his jacket until it clung to his body, his hair heavy and dripping. His one remaining eye was empty as though life had abandoned them long ago.
Behind him, the mansion burned. Flames devoured its wooden old walls, sending black smoke into the sky, smothering the beautiful red moon with a layer of ashen ugliness.
Before leaving the scene of the massacre, Rem had set both the mansion and the car ablaze. The car exploded moments later in a thunderous blast that shook the entire forest.
"death…" he whispered under his breath, then raised his voice, strained with suppressed fury. "death! I'm talking to you, damn it!"
But no answer came.
Rem exhaled slowly, pulling a cigarette from his pocket and placing it between his lips. Just as he reached for his lighter, something strange caught his attention—
A herd of crows was circling above him, gathering on the branches in eerie silence. No cawing, no sound only the rhythmic flutter of wings cutting through the steady fall of rain.
He frowned, eyes narrowing at them.
"Court of Crows…?" he muttered warily.
The number of crows grew rapidly, swirling around him in tightening circles, their bodies forming a wall of blackness. A sharp feeling seized his chest; his eyes trembled with growing fear as he shouted,
"death! What's happening?! Death!!!"
*Do not be afraid... soon, you will be one again*
Her voice echoed in his mind—soft, yet terrifyingly calm. Rem's panic deepened he screamed with every ounce of strength left in him"What are you talking about?!"
Suddenly, from the direction of the burning mansion, a figure shot into the air with a single jump that was so powerful it snuffed out the flames and smokes in the mansion and its surroundings.
Vrrrrrrm… Vrrrrrrm!
The roar of chainsaws split the forest apart, their echo reverberating between the drenched trees, merging with the rhythm of the falling rain. Rem turned sharply toward the sound, his eyes widening by the second.
In the sky, beneath the crimson moon, a small figure floated in the the middle of bloody moon with every passing moment, it grew larger
until its form became clear.
A towering being, armored in darkness, its body a humanoid of living steel with four massive arms, each ending in a roaring chainsaw that spat sparks with every twitch. From its head jutted another large chainsaw blade, glowing with a bloody light of the moon as it descended from the skies toward Rem.
The only emotion that filled Rem as he stared at the incoming monstrous entity was fear pure, primal fear, unlike anything he had ever known since the day he transmigrated
He took one step back, then another, before turning to flee deep into the forest. His boots slipped in the mud, his breathing ragged
Then agony ripped through his stomach.
He gasped as he looked down
A chainsaw chain was wrapped around his abdomen, pulling him violently backward.
He turned his head slowly his lungs struggling to draw air.
Behind him stood that chainsaw creature, silent and imposing beneath the red moonlight. Its right arm was extended toward him, the chains slithering from it like steel serpents coiling through the air.
Rem's lips trembled as he whispered in a hoarse voice filled with disbelief and pleading:
"D… Denji? My boy… c-can you… let me go, please?"
But the only response that came from that chainsaw creature no longer resembling the defenseless child it once was but was a violent tug of the chains
The sound of tearing metal filled the rainy night, followed by the wet, sickening rip of flesh being shredded apart. The chain sawed through Rem's torso, splitting him open in a storm of blood and noise.
Rem screamed his voice mingling with thunder and rain.
"DEAAAAATH ARRGGGGH! DEAAAAATH! HELP MEEEE!!!"
But his cries were swallowed by the roar of the chainsaws that drowned out every sound in this god forsaken forest
The man who had never flinched even before the sick tortures of the Devil of Pain now screamed like a toddler.
The Chainsaw Man yanked the chain with a brutal pull making Rem collapse onto the ground, landing atop his own mangled entrails. His breath came in shallow gasps as he tried to crawl backward through the mud now thick with his blood.
"death… please… someone HELP MEEEEE!!"
Then a familiar voice echoed inside his mind cold, composed, yet distant, as though from deep within his skull:
*What are you doing, Rem? Stay still.*
He froze, sweat and blood mingling on his face.
"Stay still?! And let him kill me?!" he gasped in hysteria.
"Yes," replied the voice, calm and unwavering. "It is the only way your original body can reclaim its soul back"
Rem gave a broken laugh, half-choked by his own blood.
"Ha… haha… hahahahaha…"
The terror hadn't left his face, but he laughed because he finally understood. His fate had already been sealed.
He lay flat on his back, the roar of chainsaws drawing closer and closer, their growls so loud they nearly drowned out the rain noise. He smiled faintly, his breath faltering.
"So you want me to accept my death… as if it means nothing? Fine."
With a trembling hand, he reached into his torn abdomen, fingers sinking into the warmth of his own insides, searching for his heart to end it himself.
But when his hand reached the place where his heart should have been his eyes widened in shock
.
There was no heart.
Only a small cube
He froze, then remembered the last thing the Devil of Pain had told him:
"Find a certain cube… and I shall appear before ye."
A bloody grin spread across Reim's lips as realization struck.
Death understood instantly what he was about to do.
"Rem… my dear... don't"
But he didn't listen. He yanked the cube from his abdomen, his blood pouring freely, coating the golden cube in a crimson sheen. It began to glow—pulsing with an intense red light.
In the next instant, the cube erupted.
Light exploded from within him, followed by a shockwave that tore through the forest.
Then a massive body burst forth from Rem's torn stomach, emerging with such violence that it split Reim cleanly in two.
The being that emerged was a towering man with olive toned skin and a long mane of sleek hair cascading over his shoulders, all drenched in Rem's blood
He looked down at Rem's mutilated remains and smiled coldly.
"Oh… as always, I love this view."
Rem's eyes widened in disbelief, staring at the man who he had just gave birth to
Rem now basically gave birth to two grown adults in his life, once gave birth to death in pain devil realm and this time gave birth to some random muscular middle Eastern man which was really weird
The Chainsaw Man didn't hesitate. He vanished in an instant.
A sharp tearing sound ripped through the air.
The middle eastren man's head flew off his shoulders, spinning lazily in the rain.
"Waaow !… feisty dog aren't you" his severed head muttered with a grin as it floated midair, before the body right hand calmly reached up, caught it, and reattached it—without leaving a single trace of injury.
The Chainsaw Man lunged again, his steps thundering through the forest, his saws howling like metallic beasts from hell.
But the mysterious man raised one hand, and the ground itself trembled.
From the earth burst black rusted chains like serpents of shadow, wrapping around the Chainsaw Man, piercing his flesh, binding him so tightly he couldn't move an inch.
For a moment, everything went still only the sound of grinding metal and quivering chains remained.
The man smiled coolly, then turned his gaze toward what was left of Rem sprawled on the ground. His voice came low, calm, and almost amused:
"Now then, let's get back to you… Rem, my dear. Our deal was to meet again once your contract with Death was over, wasn't it?"
The only thing Rem could manage was a slow blink, his eyes heavy and dim, clinging barely to consciousness.
The man chuckled softly.
"Oh, I see… yeah dumb question my bad ,if that lynx and the Chainsaw Man were to meet now, humanity would go extinct. Well then, in any case…"
He turned his head slightly, gesturing to the shadows behind him.
"conquest, my second dear… show yourself."
The moment he spoke the name, rats began to pour from every direction, crawling over the ground and piling into a massive, writhing mound of tiny bodies.
From within that mass emerged a tall woman with flowing crimson hair, her pale skin gleaming under the moonlight, and a soft smile curving her lips
Her eyes glowed faintly yellow as she spoke, her tone calm and knowing
"Judas… you've changed. I don't recall you ever speaking this way before."
The man smiled faintly, half his face hidden under the shadows of the trees. His voice was quiet, deep, carrying an abyssal weight.
"Call me Pain… Judas died long ago. And as for your question ...well, I was inside this person for quite some time. His life has influenced my speech a little bit.
Now it's my turn to ask what are you doing here, conquest?"
The woman raised her head slightly, smiling, her eyes gleaming with unreadable intent.
"My name is Makima. And I'm here for one reason only ,to reclaim what's mine."
"And what might that be?" judas asked, narrowing his eyes.
Makima gestured gracefully toward the bound Chainsaw Man, still struggling within the rusted chains.
"That boy."
Judas laughed quietly, the sound devoid of warmth "And how exactly do you expect me to release him? I could di- no forget dying the entire concept of pain will be erased on the spot, you know. You of all people should know what those saws are capable of "
Makima walked forward, her steps measured and echoing softly against the wet earth. The sound of her heels mixed with the drizzle.
She reached out gently, and though the Chainsaw Man lurched forward trying to attack her, she didn't flinch. Instead, she embraced him tightly.
the whirring blades started to slow… slower… until their violent scream faded completely.
The monstrous body shrank, and with it, the chaos and fury vanished—leaving only the small figure of Denji limp in her arms, free from the wounds that Rem's experiments had left upon him.
Judas smirked lightly and began,
"Oh… how lovel—"
BOOM!
A sharp explosion tore through the silence of the forest.
Judas eyes flicked upward, noticing that the rain had stopped. Then he saw it—Rem's head had exploded.
He froze for a heartbeat, then burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"Pffffft! I guess death didn't like that ending! Hahahahahaha!"
He laughed until he bent over, clutching his stomach, his shoulders shaking with mirth Then he exhaled deeply, looking up at the sky, now turning gray with the coming dawn that was mixed with the clouds
"Hooof… well then, Rem… I suppose we'll meet again once little death is in a better mood. Until then…"
He lifted his face, a wild grin spreading across his features, eyes glinting with crazed delight.
"I'll roam this world spreading the only thing I've ever truly mastered...violence."
