After a moment of thought, Leyton reined in his aura and asked calmly, "Alright, what's your question?"
"If I find it unreasonable, I don't mind going to the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery's underground to steal you out and sink you into the sea."
Church of the God of Steam and Machinery? The one possessing this wireless telegraph machine isn't a malevolent spirit, but a special Sealed Artifact? Danitz stared dumbfounded at the wireless telegraph machine spitting out illusory white paper, his expression gradually turning serious.
This Sealed Artifact is very powerful. The closest Church of the God of Steam and Machinery to Bayam is on Toscat Island, south of the White Whale Sea, thousands of nautical miles from the Rorsted Archipelago.
The tapping sound paused slightly, and another section of the illusory white paper was spat out. The Loen characters on it turned into blood-red Feynapotter characters.
"Do not try to threaten the great Arrodes! If you don't want to answer the question, you can choose to accept the punishment!"
"My question is: who did your clone meet in the mind world of East Chester County tonight?"
"You can see what's happening in East Chester County? Impossible, you must have spied on some information just now in the Spirit World."
Leyton's eyes narrowed for a moment, then quickly relaxed. He hadn't noticed being spied on by this sycophantic mirror just now. "Concealment" truly is a troublesome ability.
Does the Sun Pathway have such an ability? Or, is he also like the captain, able to simulate Beyonder abilities he has seen? Danitz was momentarily confused about Leyton's Beyonder Pathway.
Loen's East Chester County? What happened there? Klein maintained his persona as a cold adventurer, not asking the questions he was curious about, but a hint of inquiry appeared in his eyes.
The tapping sound continued. On the wireless telegraph machine, another section of the illusory white paper was spat out:
"You can choose to answer this question, or you can choose to accept the punishment."
Leyton didn't pay attention to Arrodes's urging words. He crossed his arms, an indifferent posture, and spoke, "I'm very curious if you yourself know the answer to this question?"
Tap, tap, tap, another section of illusory white paper was spat out:
"The great Arrodes knows everything!"
"Please answer the question quickly, or choose to accept the punishment."
Leyton raised an eyebrow slightly. Under the curious gazes of Klein, Danitz, and Bugs Bunny, he slowly began, "In the mind world of East Chester County, I met the returned 'Dragon of Imagination' Ankewelt, and..."
The tapping sound rang out. Before Leyton could utter the subsequent name, it spat out another section of illusory white paper. The words on it turned into neat, silvery-white characters:
"Correct answer!"
"If you have any other questions, please ask me later. The time now belongs to my great and supreme master!"
Heh, sycophant. Leyton scoffed inwardly, his gaze casually sweeping over the expressionless Klein.
This is too fawning, too shameless... Danitz's face twitched slightly. He had never seen such a shameless Sealed Artifact.
"My respected Master, may I continue to follow in your footsteps?"
After seeing the question, Klein only managed to keep his mouth from twitching by relying on his Clown ability. This mirror is indeed a sycophant, but it's probably not fawning over me, but over the Sefirah Castle aura on me.
Maintaining Gehrman Sparrow's standard expressionless demeanor, he said in a cold voice, without even a nod, "This is your own choice. You can do anything."
The tapping sound quickly rang out, making it seem as if the wireless telegraph machine was excited to be typing.
A moment later, new lines of Loen characters appeared on the illusory white paper, neat and elegant:
"Thank you, great Master. Following the rules of the question-and-answer game, Master, you may ask me one question, any question at all. I will definitely tell you everything I know!"
Among those present, Danitz's reaction was the most pronounced. His expression was stiff, as if he had recalled the unbearable encounter from earlier, and his entire face turned a bit ashen.
Bullshit! Where's your imposing aura from before? Where are your tricky questions? Why are you cowering like a dog? Danitz raged impotently in his mind.
This mirror always manages to refresh my understanding of it. After a moment of silence, Klein deliberated before speaking, "Where can I find mermaids?"
Tap, tap, tap, the wireless telegraph machine typed out the answer cheerfully:
"East of Gargas in the White Whale Sea, near the Ruins of Gods in the Sonia Sea, there are some mermaids, but they are all followers of the Evernight Goddess."
"Continuing further east from there, deep into the Ruins of Gods, there are also mermaids, but that place is very dangerous. Of course, you certainly wouldn't mind that."
Gehrman Sparrow, that Lunatic, indeed wouldn't care about such danger. In fact, these dangers would only make that pervert more excited. Danitz's peripheral vision glanced at Klein, then quickly retracted, afraid of being noticed and suffering retaliation.
No, I care a lot! Not to mention I'm just a Faceless, even if I've become a Sequence 5 Marionettist, I'd still have to be careful in a place like the Ruins of Gods. Klein silently grumbled inwardly, continuing to look at Arrodes's answer.
"Mermaids are kept at the Church of the Evernight Goddess's headquarters, the Church of the Evernight Goddess, and the Church of Eternal Sleep in the Sonia Sea."
"The aura on this wireless telegraph machine is about to dissipate. I eagerly await the next opportunity to serve my great Master."
As this page of illusory white paper was spat out, the wireless telegraph machine stopped moving and lost its deep, obscure feeling.
Aside from going to the Ruins of Gods, mermaids in other places would inevitably lead to conflict with the Church of the Evernight Goddess. Klein sighed heavily in his heart.
"The Secret Order definitely has its own channels too, but they must be hidden, so Arrodes can't detect them."
Leyton softly voiced his conjecture.
Secret Order? Yes, as a Hidden organization that has existed since the Fourth Epoch and controls the Seer Pathway, they must possess methods to complete the ritual required for a Marionettist's advancement. Either it's mermaids secretly kept, or a method that can replace the ritual.
This difficulty is no less than starting with the Church of the Evernight Goddess, perhaps even harder. I can't even find where the Secret Order's people are.
Sigh~ There's no most difficult, only more difficult. Or, do I really have to pray to the Goddess for help?
