After what felt like an eternity, the medical team stabilized the twin's. Mahira and the twin's spent weeks recovering in the hospital. News of Mahira giving birth was all over social media. Mahira sits in her cozy nursery, surrounded by soft toy's and baby blanket's. Elena sat quietly next to Mahira admiring the children in the nurse's arm's. Mahira smiled weakly as she looked at the two identical boys.
Elena squeezed Mahira's hand gently and smiled. She looked weak well because she had stayed with Mahira for three days also preparing a comfortable environment for Mahira's room so that when she woke up the colors would cheer her up. The nurse approached Mahira's bed and gave the twins to her. Mahira held her newborn twins, her heart filled with joy and love.
Dr Smith," congratulations Mahira! You have two handsome babies. They're warriors just like their mother.".
Mahira gazed at her boy's. They looked nothing like her. Their features were gentle and soft, both with honey brown eyes and she knew they'd grow to look exactly like Thane – same eye's, nose , skin. No feature of hers was taken. Elena clapped her hands and jumped up and down joyfully doing a silly dance, bending her legs and jiggling her waist and hands.
" Of fairy. They're going to take after our side of the family. Omg."
Kaashvi rushed in the room, her breath uneven. She booked the first flight to London when Elena told her of the babies birth. She held her chest trying to catch her breath as she leaned against the door a huge smile plastered on her face.
" Ooh my goodness Mahi, they're so handsome. I think we are going to get along. They're so handsome. So adorable ,look at those tiny noses. You're strong Mahi. You'll raise then with love. Honestly when I received a call from Elena, I was so scared. The twin's nearly died and you, your condition was bad. This past week was so scary. But thank god they survived."
Even Alf had boarded a flight to London as soon as she received the news of the kid's birth. Alf waiting anxiously outside, entered with tear's in her eye's.
Alf," Great grandmother's little miracles! May I hold them ."
Mahira handed one twin to Alf and she cradled the baby lovingly.
Alf whispered," Thane should be here Mahira, he's missing this."
Mahira looked away.
" His choice grandmother, I don't need him. I can raise my children on my own. If he made his choice then I can definitely make mine."
As everyone adored the babies, Mahira worried about how to raise children. She had no idea what trouble's would come her way.
Elena," everyone held my fairy godson's except me, fairy can I hold them now ?"
Mahira smiled," of course baby."
Elena carefully lift's one of the twins into her arms, cradling him tenderly.
" Awe, he's so tiny."
Mahira," support her head sweetie."
Mahira smiled as Kaashvi took countless pictures of the moment.
" Elena, Kaashvi help me name the twin's. I want their name's to start with an A, you have the right to name them "
Elena," Yay!"
Kaashvi," let's see ,baby A is so strong and brave."
Elena," How about Alexander?"
Mahira,"I love it."
Mahira gazes at baby B sleeping peacefully.
Mahira," and baby B is gentle and sweet."
Kaashvi," How about Angelo?"
Mahira," perfect."
Mahira writes the name's on a nursery wall. Alexander Carson and Angelo Carson. Elena and Kaashvi hug Mahira. Alf, Kaashvi, Mahira, Elena and the twin's return home, surrounded by teddy bears, blankets and pillows.
Mahira, "Mom!"
Teresa hugged Mahira then took the twin's.
" Wow! He's so handsome. You got us worried sick. The worst part is we didn't even know where to go."
Elena," they will look just like brother Thane."
Aliya," In that case, if the twins look like their father then he must be handsome. I think I want to meet him. Since sister doesn't want Thane, I think I'll take him."
Mahira," Don't you think about it."
Her voice was cold and her gaze was piercing.
Teresa," ooh they're so adorable… what did you name them! Come in."
Kaashvi stand's beside her holding baby Angelo. In her arms.
Mahira," Meet Alexander and Angelo."
The family gathers around, cooing over the babies. Teresa gently lift's Alexander into her arms, while John gazes adoringly at Angelo.
John," they're so small."
The family shares a warm , joyful moment, surrounded by love and new life.
Five years later
Five years had passed since Thane's departure. Mahira built a wonderful life for her twin's. Elena and Kaashvi loved the babies so much as well. They adored the twin's. Thane, returning from deployment boarded a flight to London after 5 year's. He decided to go to the mall first to get something to eat and some comfortable clothes to wear
He had never been to London, ever. He walks through the mall, scanning the area, hoping he could find a place to eat before he could buy comfortable clothes.
As he was looking through the mall he saw a familiar face and realized it was Mahira. Mahira was standing by a store eating ice cream her beauty captivating him. She was wearing a light blue silk saree, adorned by heavy jhumka bell earrings. Her hair was tied up in a neat ponytail. Her lips painted with a light shade of pink and no other makeup besides that and still she looked ravishing.
Thane," Mahira."
Mahira looked at the direction where she heard a familiar voice calling.
Mahira, "Thane"
Thane," I found you at least. How have you been Mahi?"
Mahira looked away and started packing her bag. She ignored his question and answered with her own.
" What do you want? Why did you come to London?"
Thane," Mahira, I want to see my son's. Grandmother told me that you were in London so I came here."
Mahira gave him a questioning look her eyebrow raised.
" You've got nerve showing up now. I was serious when I told you that you won't see them. They don't need you."
Thane," you can't keep me away from my son's Mahira. I want to see them."
Mahira," Ooh shut up you asshole."
Thane," you are being selfish. What you are doing is not right."
Mahira clicked her tongue.
"Who's being selfish? Me? Well then it's just the beginning. I always stick to my word's. I was willing to let you back into my life but you fuckin chose the army over our son's."
Thane," I don't regret joining the army. I know that the old Mahira would've supported me and waited for me. I made a mistake but following my dream's was not a mistake."
Mahira looked at him with disbelief.
" Seriously Thane. You have no ounce of shame. The old Mahira, who madly loved you, she's dead. Consider her dead. I would've supported you but you killed me. You killed the old Mahira, no one else did it was you."
Thane," Mahira, please…"
Seeing as his words wouldn't do anything he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer to him. She crashed against his chest and tried wriggling free from his embrace. Suddenly Thane's lip's crushed against Mahira, sparking a mix of emotion's. He deepened the kiss. For a second Mahira melted in his arm's but then she immediately pushed him away. This time she was angrier.
Mahira," what the fuck do you think you are doing?"
Thane," I still love you, I always loved you."
Mahira's anger boils over. She slaps Thane her eyes blazing.
Mahira," Stay away from me you bastard. I don't want to see you anywhere near Alexander nor Angelo."
Thane rubbed his cheek.
" Mahira, please…"
Mahira," You lost your chance. You hurt me a lot. Don't hurt them like you hurt me."
Mahira walks away, leaving Thane stunned and regretful. After two day's Mahira goes to her company with Angelo and Alexander. They had both been pestering her to take them to her workplace. Rachel had taken them our for ice cream as she had a contract to finish. She worked calmly smiling at the thought of her children smeared in ice cream. Thane stand's outside Mahira's office, hesitant to knock. He takes a deep breath and knocked on the door. Mahira had a huge smile on her face and opened the door. Her smile dropped as soon as she saw who it was and she went back to her desk leaning against it her body facing towards Thane. The butterfly ruffled dress she wore was savage, sexy and slightly professional.
" What do you want, Thane?"
Thane looked at her with pleading eyes that had a hint of lust when they roamed around her outfit.
" I want to prove myself to you Mahira. To show you I'm committed to being a father."
Mahira," And what makes you think I'll let you?"
Thane ," because I'm willing to do whatever it takes."
Mahira shook her head and tear's were already forming in her eyes.
" You can't just waltz back in after 5 year's. It doesn't work like that Thane. I can't repeat the mistake of falling for your words again."
Thane, "please Mahira just hear me out "
Mahira hesitates. She rolls her eyes looking at how pathetic he looked. Looking at him thieves would know to steal from him because he looked completely put of place. He was wearing a heavy jacket and pants warm enough to sleep through winter without a blanket. It was summer for goodness sake. London was very cold true but it was summer now. She shook her head disapprovingly.
Mahira," talk!"
Thane sat down on her office couch. She checked the time on her watch and looked irritated.
" I know I made mistakes. But my love for you was never fake. The Mahira who took care of my sister is the Mahira I fell in love with. I know that maybe if I had come earlier, you would've accepted me and my career."
Mahira looked at her nails as if she was checking if they were polished well but it was to avoids crying.
" If you had reciprocated my feelings then I would have gladly accepted your career and waited for you. But you used me to get blessings from grandmother. That was selfish."
Thane," Give me one last chance Mahira. At least let me fix things. I'll never abandon you again. Please Mahi."
Mahira searches Thane's eye's seeking sincerity.
" I'll let you see them, only so you can know how they look. But after seeing their faces you must go away."
Thane's eye's lock onto Mahira's filled with determination. Mahira called her secretary and asks her to bring Angelo and Alexander. Thane kept looking at her with admiration and there was a glint of longing in his eyes.
Thane," Do you still love me?"
Thane took slow steps closer to Mahira
" N..n..no! I d… don't love you."
Thane wrapped his arm around her waist and put a few stray hair behind her ear.
" My touch still affects you, I can still make you wet. It takes you a second or two to break free from my kisses. Every time I touch you, I know your heart yearns for more but you are stubborn."
Mahira pushes him away.
" Fuck you Thane. You know what I'll make sure you don't…."
Alexander," MI amore…"
Alexander and Angelo, curious about why Mahira called them ,ran into her office and hug Mahira's leg's, looking up at Thane with wide eye's.
Alexander," mommy ,who is that?"
Mahira," This is… your father."
Angelo's eye's widen and he clings tighter to Mahira's leg.
Angelo," Dad…dy."
Thane smiled genuinely with a hint of nervousness .Mahira admired his cute smile and looked away immediately.
Thane," Hi guy's. Come give Daddy a hug."
Thane kneeled down his arm's extended, tear's welling up, unable to believe that his son's had grown up so much.
Alexander," Do you know us?"
Thane smiled," of course I know you guy's. You are my two precious twins. My only son's."
Angelo looks up at Mahira, fear written all over his eyes. He had never expected that his father would come back.
Mahira," it's okay baby."
Angelo takes a step forward, trembling as if Thane would devour him. Alexander also cautiously approached Thane. Suddenly Alexander stepped back.
" I don't like you!"
Thane," Alexander. Son."
Alexander," You are going to hurt mommy. Like always if you come back you will make her cry again."
Angelo," I won't let you hurt mommy. Stay away from mommy."
Thane," Guy's I promise I won't hurt her. I love your mom."
Alexander shakes his head in denial.
" No you don't love her. If so why did you leave us. If you could leave her once, you can do it again."
Angelo," brother Alex and I will protect mommy from pain."
Thane took a few steps towards Mahira attempting to touch her.
Alexander and Angelo in unison
" Don't touch her!"
Thane," son please. Please Alex…Angelo please don't do this to me."
Alexander glared at him sternly his eye's as cold as his mother.
" Mom raised us alone for five years she can do it again. Where were you then? We could live without you for five years and we can do it again."
Angelo," Yes. We don't need you. We have mommy."
Mahira intervened, gently looking at her son's in assurance that they should be nice to Thane. Alexander and Angelo's faces scrunch up in distaste as they looked at Thane.
Alexander," I hate you!"
Angelo," Yeah, I hate you too."
Thane, "Son please…."
Alexander," Dad, Angelo and I know everything. We heard aunt Kaashvi talking about mommy's past. We know that you are at fault for mommy's pain."
Angelo," Yes, I agree with Alex. Once I saw mommy crying and it's all because of you. You abandoned us. You left mommy crying and sad."
Thane," please understand. I'm sorry for making your mom cry. I won't do it again. Please don't be so distant."
Alexander," sorry isn't enough."
Angelo," you don't deserve mommy."
Mahira places a calm hand on her son's.
" Boy's let's talk about this."
Thane's eye's welled up with tears as he realized the depths of his son's resentment. As soon as Thane left, Mahira called Aliya who was working as an intern in her company.
" Aliya, I don't want to see Thane near my kid's."
Aliya just had attitude. Ever since Aliya came to London she had changed. She had become self centered and selfish hanging out with wrong people. Mahira did not have time to focus on Aliya's life so she let her do whatever she wanted just as long as she didn't harm Angelo and Alexander.
Aliya," Listen Mahi, I really don't care about your personal life okay."
Aliya took a cigarette and started smoking.
" Have you heard the saying, another man's garbage is another man's treasure? Thane is rich and handsome. I think I like him. If you don't want him then I'll gladly take him."
Mahira," Aliya! Stay away from Thane, he's the father of my kids "
Aliya, "I'm not blind I can see that besides I am 18 now Mahi. I can make my own decisions."
Mahira," you don't understand the situation. Thane hurt me deeply. You won't be happy. He has two children with your sister Aliya with me."
Aliya rolled her eyes.
" Ooh poor Mahi. Should I pity you always playing victim."
Mahira," what's wrong with you Aliya. You don't understand what I'm trying to explain to you."
Aliya," Maybe I don't, but I know Thane still love's you. And I'll do whatever it takes to make him mine because you don't value his love."
Mahira," Aliya no! You can't compete with me for him. What you want to do is not right."
Aliya," then watch me compete with you."
Aliyah's eyes flash with resentment sending chills down Mahira's spine.
Mahira," Aliya stop this. You're going to hurt yourself."
Aliya," or maybe I'll hurt you."
Mahira looked at her threateningly.
Aliya," You know, I might even use Angelo and Alexander to get Thane. What are you going to do about it?"
Aliyah's word's hung in the air, shocking Mahira.
" If you dare use my children, I'll ruin you. I have the power to do that within a jiffy. This battle is between me and you so don't you dare use my children. I'll make sure you don't get Thane."
Aliya smirked.
" Is that a challenge? Okay then sis, challenge accepted. I'll do whatever it takes just sit back , watch and learn from an expert."
Mahira's anger boils over and she slaps Aliya. Aliya was stunned with her hand on her cheek.
Mahira," If you dare harm my children, I'll forget that you and I are siblings. Don't use my children for your fuckin benefits Aliya."
Mahira took a deep breath.
" Tonight at dinner we will discuss this topic with the whole family let's see if they approve."
During dinner that night
Everyone was silently eating when Mahira broke the silence.
" Mom I'm sorry for the timing but please tell Aliya to stay away from Thane."
Teresa," Mahi don't involve my daughter in your relationship issues."
Aliya stands up furiously
" Ooh mom, I don't need your defense. I'm 18 now. Mahira has everything, whether it's property, children, wealth ,fame she has it all. I deserve Thane."
Mahira stood up
" Enough Aliya. You want Thane , you will never get him! Mark my words."
