Work is exhausting, like really exhausting. Sometimes I had to go on unannounced trips to make
business deals and most of the time I had to check the departments in other countries. Angelo
and Alexander were not much of a problem. They were naughty, playful and stuff but they'd
never do something that could lend me or themselves in danger. They were risk takers and did
risky things and always got injured because of that.
As for Thane I should be feeling sorry for him but I'm feeling sorry for myself because I can't get
the pleasure I want. Well I have to consider that he's a cripple therefore no sex at all. It's not like
I was enjoying giving him a cold shoulder.
Anyway I'm in Korea with Angelo and Alexander. We left Thane with Adamsen. Angelo and
Alexander went with their uncle Mark. He offered to spend the day with them so Kaashvi and I
stayed behind.
'How's your relationship with Thane? Did you decide to fix things with him or move on with
Adamsen?'
'Kaashu you know that I'll always go back to Thane no matter what. I agree he made a few
mistakes and stuff but he apologized.'
Kaashvi's nose scrunched as she drank the glass of bitter whiskey in her cup.
'I knew you were a fool but I didn't know it was this bad. If he can hurt you once he can do it
again. What he did is punishable by law. Why do you stay with a man like him when someone
as wonderful as Adamsen is more than willing to love you properly. Everything he did before, he
can do it again without giving it a second thought.'
'People change Kaashu. If Mark treated you the same and you had a child wouldn't you go back
to him if he apologized?'
'No! I wouldn't go back to him. It proves how little his trust in me is. It proves that he will only be
by my side only when there's light in my life. I don't want that kind of relationship. Just because
we have a kid doesn't mean he can waltz back into my life as if he did nothing. Men like that
deserve to be in prison because if he can do it once he can do it twice. That's undermining a woman's love and strength. What if Angelo and Alex become abusive because they saw their
father doing it and they think it's right?'
'Dont say that. Everyone deserves a chance.'
'If you marry him and reconcile with him, don't expect me at your wedding. If you marry him,
consider me dead. If you marry him then our friendship will end. If everyone dies and you are
blamed then deal with the torture to come. If you reconcile with him then our friendship will end
that day.'
Is Kaashvi willing to end our friendship only because of this.
'Are you going to let such a minor issue end our 17 year old friendship? You are going to end
our friendship for what, to see me unhappy?"
'Yes! I will end our 17 year old friendship without a second thought if you go back to him. I hate
Thane with everything in me. His lack of trust nearly cost your life Mahi. Just because he's
crippled you pity him. Are you even sure he's crippled or he's just pretending?'
'What, now you want to believe he's lying? That he faked his accident. Why would he do that?'
'To gain sympathy isn't it obvious. Surviving a jet crash is almost impossible, I mean it would
require Jesus to come raise the dead. And even if it was, he would've been completely blown to
smithereens.'
'Thane wouldn't do that. I trust him and if that means ending our friendship then so be it.'
'You are going to choose Thane over me?'
'Yes. Do you know why? You know how much I had to sacrifice just to get him and if it means
sacrificing my friendship with you then so be it.'
Kaashvi slapped me. My cheek stung, I'm sure she left a five finger print.
'You are making a huge mistake. Go ahead, go to Thane. Do me a favor and leave the kids
here. Please. I'll bring them.'
Kaashvi threw me out but everything she said kept replaying in my head. Why would Thane
fake his injuries when he could've easily asked for my forgiveness.
I booked a flight back to London. I got there the next night at about eight o'clock. I wasn't really
excited to be back, I was already missing the kids but maybe if Elena had free time we would go
out or something.
I removed my heels so they wouldn't make noise for anyone just in case they were asleep but
the joke was on me because right there next to the wine racks, Thane was standing on his two
feet with an unfaltering smile with adamsen drinking wine carefree.
'You are so close to winning her back. Soon enough she will be your wife. Sitting on that
wheelchair must be tiring.'
'If it wasn't for your help I wouldn't have been able to fake my injuries and pretend so much.
Thank you.'
'All you have to do now is pretend that the therapy is helping you and you can walk and when
she forgives you please don't hurt her. It was hard enough giving up on her.'
'I feel guilty for lying to her but it's worth it because I gained her trust and love back.'
Kaashvi was right. I put my hand over my mouth to stop myself from making noise. Kaashvi was
right but I ended my friendship with her just for him. I trusted him. What's worse is that both him
and Adamsen planned this from day one. It was all a lie. Everything I saw was a lie. I called
Kaashvi and after five rings she picked up.
'What do you want? Didn't you end our friendship?' Her anger was justified and ending my friendship for a guy must be one of the worst things I
could do as a girl.
'Kaashu you were right... you…'
'Yes I was. But you are stubborn. Let Angelo and Alexander stay with me while you sort things out okay.'
'No I mean, you were right, he did lie to me, he faked his accident.'
Kaashvi promised to come tomorrow after that she hung up. I feel like a fool. The rain was pouring heavily outside but I couldn't stay in this house.
I went to a park nearby and sat on a bench under the rain. I couldn't stop the tears from falling and the rain drenched my clothes. I ended up falling asleep on the bench.
